Later went In for a bad throat infection which the doctor said I needed to have a test done before I could even enter the hospital, had a televisit which they gave me antibiotics for the issue and told me to call if it didn't clear up. It got worse, I called them and the on call doctor told me to keep taking the antibiotics and wouldn't see me. Next day I was in urgent care having a doctor ask me for permission to take a picture of it because it was so bad and was given 3 different antibiotics to deal with it. had a 15 minute consultation with one of their departments and they gave me a bill for 600 dollars 2 months later even though I spent most of that time with a PA. 2400/hr billing rate for a consultation. theyve lost my payment before and nearly sent me to collections even though I called their billing department to ensure it had been paid which they confirmed and eventually had to threaten action which conveniently right after that they found the payment. I've rarely heard of others having a good Interaction with this hospital as well. Make the trip to Denver or junction. Just don't go there.

I saw a NP by the name of Kathryn McCullough and she was fantastic!! She talked with me for a long time to understand my medical history, prescribed me my necessary medications, and submitted a referral for me. I wanted to relate my experience from over 2 years ago with the practice, and offer my sincere thank you to the medical professionals that I encountered. In January of 2024, I spent the week skiing with friends. Even at the age of 72, I'm normally acclimated to the altitude within a day or two. However, that year, I found myself out of breath after just a few pitches. I thought I had some type of chest congestion, and made an appointment at Aspen Medical Care. I don't recall the name of the physician who treated me, but almost immediately, after listening to my heart, she decided to hook me up for a quick EKG. She determined that I had A-fib, immediately put me on a blood thinner, and suggested to see a cardiologist as soon as I returned home. Bottom line, after a cardioversion that didn't work, and an ablation that did, I have been A-fib free since then. I attribute my health to that wonderful doctor who treated me that day.

Now Dr. Spence has retired and I have seen Dr. Darnell once and been favorably impressed by his personality and professionalism. Also, the patient portal has now been transferred to one called My Chart where I had to enter my personal information twice before it "recognized" me as an established patient. My records from the Athena portal were supposedly transferred to the new one, but some appear to be missing. That particularly includes my records with other branches of the Valley View Hospital system, which overall has some real problems with communication and quality of care. Roaring Fork Family Physicians has generally been more responsive to my needs than other Valley View branches.
