I just received a "farewell" notification email from Aspen Medical Care. I've noticed that they are becoming part of another medical practice in the Aspen area. I wanted to relate my experience from over 2 years ago with the practice, and offer my sincere thank you to the medical professionals that I encountered. In January of 2024, I spent the week skiing with friends. Even at the age of 72, I'm normally acclimated to the altitude within a day or two. However, that year, I found myself out of breath after just a few pitches. I thought I had some type of chest congestion, and made an appointment at Aspen Medical Care. I don't recall the name of the physician who treated me, but almost immediately, after listening to my heart, she decided to hook me up for a quick EKG. She determined that I had A-fib, immediately put me on a blood thinner, and suggested to see a cardiologist as soon as I returned home. Bottom line, after a cardioversion that didn't work, and an ablation that did, I have been A-fib free since then. I attribute my health to that wonderful doctor who treated me that day. read more

Not even worthy of 1 star. Got denied at the door by three high school girls working the desk while my brother was experiencing a severe allergic reaction because they stopped doing walk-ins thirty minutes before we arrived. Absolutely outrageous, do not go here. Joke of a clinic, and physician. read more

I went in without an appointment to get an injury checked out. They kept me waiting in the lobby for 20 mins, then they brought me into the chilly, cramped examination room to check my vitals. The staff told me a doctor or physicians assistant would be in shortly. More than an hour later, no one had seen me. I also asked for an update and they said they'd check, but another 15 minutes later, I was still forgotten about in the examination room. I finally decided to walk out. I understand that the staff is busy and patients may need to wait, but it is completely disrespectful and uncaring not to occasionally check in on a patient in distress and provide reasonable estimates on when they will be seen. This clinic is awful and I would not recommend it. read more

Came in for two non urgent but semi concerning issues. I wanted to check them out especially because I am pregnant. I was dismissed by the young bitchy PA, she even consulted the doctor and they both agreed I was fine. They basically said that eventhough what I am experiencing is not normal I am not symptomatic enough to look into anything further. I have never been too happy with Aspen Medical care so I finally after all these years decided to find a new doctor who said that what I am experiencing is definitely not normal and we need to at least look into it further. That's really all I wanted especially considering I am pregnant. I spoke to a doctor friend who also said my symptoms need to be looked into further. Aspen Medical Care has been awful for a while and I am finally done. Very happy with my new VVH affiliated doctors office, night and day different experience from start to finish. read more

This office overall is not great - I am once again, deeply disappointed - I called to set up an apt today because my child woke with a very high fever and I needed to have him checked for flu ... I was told directly by the women that answered the phone, and I quote, "We don't see sick people" ... I promptly called Dr Fahy's office, who spent 15 minutes discussing my child's symptoms and getting us set up for a flu and or covid tests and giving me interim things I could do to help my child rest and be more comfortable until we could get in for the tests etc. I won't bother calling Aspen Medical care again now that I know they don't see sick people. When it says open to noon, and you show up at 11:35 am and they tell you (even though nobody is in the waiting room) that they are not taking any walk-ins, you know they are not serious about providing medical care. Receptionist was very nice but had to deliver the bad news. Don't bother wasting your time to go here unless you arrive a good hour before they "close". Very frustrating. read more

On Monday July 30, 2018 I was in a bicycle accident in Aspen. I went to the Aspen Medical Care. Everyone was very nice and attentive. I had a very deep puncture wound on the inside of my lower right leg. The doctor Jenny Connery chose to glue the wound rather than stitch it. I questioned this but did as she recommended. The wound I later learned should have been stitched as the glue did not hold. I should have been told to walk as little as possible and to elevate the leg. On return to my home I saw a wound doctor as the opening had increased to the size of a quarter and several layers of skin and raw flesh were visible. I am 4 weeks in to the injury and still have a long road to go to heal. I wanted to post pictures for how it looked the day of the accident and how it looks today.....no way to attach a photo but it's scary. read more

As a local, don't go here. I called and explained my situation and told them I didn't have insurance and asked several times if they could actually help me or if they were going to charge me to just tell me to go somewhere else. I paid a 112$ for a ten minute visit where they told me to go see a different doctor... surprise surprise Every time I've gone here I've always felt like they don't care and they just want to make money. This place is a joke, unless you need a Z pack don't go here! read more

Everyone here was very kind to my daughter when went in for assistance after she had a snowboarding accident. They could not have been nicer or more helpful, and the nurses explained everything in detail. Terrific people from the receptionists to the medical staff, we are so grateful for them. read more

Billing department is a shambles. Beware. I quite like the doctors and the care is okay / good but the billing process really lets them down. The first time I heard that I owed them anything. I heard that I was "in collections" . I paid it then and there on the call. Sending bills to collections is a tawdry practice for dealing with delinquent ex customers. I am really upset about it. Especially, as it is used in the health "care" industry. I seriously hope that it will not be reflected in my credit report but am not convinced that this matters in the least to AMC. I am changing medical care providers and I have an extremely bitter taste in my mouth. I seriously hope that this will encourage the practice manager to implement a more thoughtful process with regards to the accounts receivable and I would caution anyone against dealing with them. read more

Went in recently without an appointment and the front staff was very understanding, patient, and helpful. Checked me in as a new patient (always laborious) and within 30 minutes I was having my essentials checked and a strep test, as I had suspected. Knowledgeable PA followed up with confirmation promptly, sent a prescription to a local pharmacist that would be easiest on the wallet, and informed me on a few important medical issues, and off I went to begin treatment. Much better already! Thank you for your professionalism. I recommend this place. As a tourist, sometimes it is difficult when ill. They were very helpful. read more

These guys took fantastic care of our very sick toddler. After 3 nights of insomnia, we were a wreck and she had sores in her mouth, fever and a possible adverse reaction to a new prescription for an ear infection we got the day before we left Chicago. It was bad. They got us in quickly and the doctor addressed all of our concerns and came up with a beautiful solution. She also approached our terrified, super sick child with a TLC I wish I could find in a doctor at home. She was exceptional, and also told us she'd be on call over the weekend and not to hesitate to call if things got worse. So grateful for Aspen Medical Care being here: thank you!! read more

After 2 of my previous physicians there have left I went to Dr. Connery. I found her very thorough and knowledgable.

Not respecting their own business hours, refusing to double check their patient within five days of their last visit, not even over the phone for an emergency like basic post screening check. That's happening two hours before their supposed closing time. After being prescribed a very strong antibiotic discontinuing the previous one under their advice, half of the job feels done which could be understandable as it can happen but at least talk to me or see me to see what's going wrong. After explaining over the phone at 4pm that I can't sleep because my respiration stops every time I do, after telling them the very strong bruised sensation within my mid-back when coughing, after explaining my coughing that leads to throwing up thin air because following a total lost of appetite for five days they kindly tell me 2 hours before their closing time that they are done for today! Like if 48 hours of not sleeping at all wasn't a potential health issue to start with. Now I have to hit the emergency room with yet a third person that doesn't know what I went through during these past 10days, and who knows where it will go from there. I hope nothing that will follow can hold them responsible for not letting me come in and acting accordingly because I will not let this stand like if holding a medical practice was holding a flower shop, and that you close two hours early when you feel you are done. So here it is after the emergency visit and a full span of exams, yet a third antibiotic and some heavy prescription drugs to allow me to sleep as it is indeed a real concern. An extra 2,000 USD and a real feeling of having wasted my time prior to that last visit at the Hospital. read more

Walked in without an appointment. Receptionist was helpful and personable. Registration as a new patient was fairly quick, less than 15 min. You get a tablet and input your contact info. And with the tablet you get to take a picture of yourself and of your driver's license. Much better than old-fashioned clipboard and pen, which always seems to generate errors when someone types content into a computer. Waiting time for the exam room was 2 minutes, and staff took vitals immediately. Doctor was there 2 minutes later. She was caring and helpful, did thorough exam, discussed meds and treatment. First-rate in every respect. A wonderful resource for Aspen. read more

I am so glad we found Aspen Medical Care! We are from out of town..our son got sick..I called after hours and Dr. Ann Goyette was on call! She spent a great deal of time with me as we discussed my son's illness. She encouraged me to call back the next day and have him seen! I did and our son was able to be seen by Dr. Goyette, he was diagnosed with strep and is now on his road to recovery! We are grateful to Dr. Goyette and the entire staff for the way they treated us from start to finish! read more

Here's how it works: They have a tiered system of how they charge you tier 1, tier 2, and so on. The higher the tier, the more expensive. In theory, what tier you are depends on what the doctor did for you... time spent, any tests administered, etc. The thing is, they get to arbitrarily choose what tier you are at, and if asked to explain why, there is no record except for "that is what the doctor chose, and it is up to his discretion." Oh, and you cannot speak to the doctor about it, because he probably wont remember you, AND once you have been billed for it, they claim that it cannot be changed anyway, because "that would be insurance fraud." (God forbid they have to submit a change form to your insurance). For your first visit they automatically charge you a higher starting rate, because it takes a little longer to get your medical history and get to know you. Understandable. However, even though I only spoke with the Dr. for 10 minutes, and he literally gave me no help, they decided to charge me the 2nd tier ON TOP of the already more expensive initial visit. When I called to inquire about my bill, they informed me that there was absolutely nothing they could do, and no one I could even talk to about it. The girl who answered the phone interrupted me, did not answer any of my questions, only to abruptly cut me off and say her supervisor would give me a call (she was clearly annoyed with my questioning). But her supervisor never called. Not to mention the doc had absolutely no helpful advice for me except to keep doing exactly what I had been doing for the past 8 weeks (which was drink lots of tea and water, and have a nice day). I don't expect medical miracles, but I also do not expect to get charged a higher rate on my already higher initial visit rate for no apparent reason, and not have anyone be able to explain anything to me at all. If this were any business other than a medical office, this simply would not fly, but they make things confusing and impossible on purpose because they can. read more

I will never set foot in this clinic again. I have worked in medical billing/physicians offices and most ethical practices and institutions do not nickel and dime their patients, even though they can, like this office does. Not only did I receive terrible care the 5 times I went there, I received a huge bill compared to (what I found out) other offices in the valley. I also had a friend get a letter from her insurance company stating that the amount Aspen Medical Care was charging was too much and that she should not pay it! I would pay more for great care, but they do not offer great care. The staff is mostly rude. Every time I went there I received poor customer service and inadequate medical care. I did not have the issues that I went in for attended to. Twice I had to call them to have find out what my test results were and what to do from there, and once having to go to another doctor to have what I went there to be seen for, get resolved! read more

What happens when you are a visitor to Aspen and suddenly need to see a doctor? I walked in to Aspen Medical Care at 8:45am, and they were very kind and helpful. It took just over an hour for me to see a doctor, which is not bad for a walk-in with no appointment. The doctor was friendly and took his time, and called some prescriptions to a nearby pharmacy. Absolutely horrible and unhelpful. They can not provide details of your billing when asked. They seem to enjoy confrontations about billing. The doctor who came to our hospital room tried to make is feel guilty for doing a home birth. We had experienced enough for her to scold us too. We were billed $1000, for what? We were told our hospital stay would be free because they falsely accused us of not having the baby at that time. They realized the mistake but Aspen Medical Care called me a liar and attempted to ruin my credit even when I asked to provide them supporting documentation. She didnt want to see it though. I have no clue how the main lady is running a business. I paid the allowable amount per their documentation of 338 but they sent the bill to the wrong address and it somehow became 389. I owed 50 bucks and they act like it was my fault. I acted in good faith. I do not believe they did. I would AVOID at any cost. THEY LACK EMPATHY AND PROFESSIONALISM. She told me she WOULD do a rebuttal to essentially embarrass me. I can't wait to read it and share with my JD. read more

i visited aspen medical care with a sore throat and ended up with dr. anne goyette, who dismissively sent me home, but not before lecturing me about reproductive health -- which is clearly not what i came in for. she claimed my throat issue was viral (i.e., antibiotics wouldn't work) and when i asked for detail she literally shrugged her shoulders. her advice was "it might get worse before it gets better" and then she sent me home. wow. after powering through a really painful couple of days, i called back and a much more compassionate (and presumably competent) doctor, kim scheuer, recommended some great tips to manage the throat pain. anyway, a few days later i visited another urgent care facility and they diagnosed it as a strep-like bacterial infection. couple days of antibiotics and i felt 100x better. long story short -- don't bother with aspen medical care. read more

Very friendly staff. Needed stitches inside my wife's lip. Done within an hour and no need to go sit in a hospital emergency room.

I would NEVER go to this clinic. The practice administrator, Bridget Bielinksi, is tragic at her job. She has no customer relations skills whatsoever. This practice takes a credit card to ensure payment and i am sure they do it b/c people such as the last reviewer question their unethical billing practices all the time. The automatically charge your card and refuse to discuss the matter with you. Our first bill came with two different numbers on the top of the bill. Bridget said she couldn't discuss this with me b/c she didn't have a copy of that bill. When i said i would send it to her, she said the bottom line is that the bill is correct no matter what I say. I saw a doctor. My husband saw an unlicensed practioner and we were charged the same. I am sure the insurance company would be interested in this. But if the practice has anything to do with it, they won't b/c they have yet to submit the claim to the insurance company. I thought the doctor I saw was competent at the time but he didn't solve my problem nor was my husband healed by the practioner. There are a lot of other options in Aspen. I had the exact same problem that Caitlin had - almost word for word when I called their office on an insurance billing problem. Here's what she said in her Yelp Review, "When I called to inquire about my bill, they informed me that there was absolutely nothing they could do, and no one I could even talk to about it. But her supervisor never called." In my case they said my insurance denied the claim due to an error. When I call my insurance, they never received a request from them. So I called back and got the same rude response again and would not transfer me to their supervisor. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I 100% agree with the other two reviews. I had been having funny symptoms such as my hands going numb randomly and feeling really light headed, sometimes a bit sick to my stomach so I thought I should get it checked out after a few of these episodes. At the front desk they told me they took my insurance (blue cross/blue shield, which is why I went there in the first place) but needed to get a credit card on file in case something didn't go through. Which I inquired as to why, they were very vague and said either way that since I have insurance they would only charge me the insurance rate anyway. The doctor was actually really nice, ran an ekg to see if it was something with my heart, didn't find much there and so she ordered blood work. Well I'm one of those people who have little veins, takes 75 pokes to produce anything and usually end up with it coming from my hand, all the while hating every minute of all of it. They didn't get enough blood there so they sent me to the lab at Aspen hospital. I ended up having to get blood work done three separate times because each time they didn't take enough. The initial tests came back normal but if I wanted to go further I could be tested for diabetes, lymes etc but would have to come in AGAIN (why didn't they just test those in the first round, I will never know.) I told them if I had another episode I would. A few months later I get a bill in the mail stating that my insurance did not cover the cost of any of this so it would be $475 for the doctors visit and $997 for the lab work. You have to be kidding me, first off I have lots of friends in the medical field and I know for sure that what they would get from insurance would be far less - probably more in line of $80 for the visit and $120 for the lab work. $200 is reasonable. I called to discuss this with them, told them what I was told at the front desk and their reply - well it's not our employees responsibility to know whether your insurance agency covers the expenses. (UM isn't that part of what the office staff gets PAID to do). Next thing I know I look at my credit card statement and they have charged the $475. I put a stop payment on it, something I have never ever had to do and called to discuss it with them again. No budging or negotiations on their part, they sent all the paywork to my credit card agency and payment was taken. I then get a $25 late fee for 'their trouble" - when I called to get that off I was told that I have to pay it since the first payment didn't come through in full it was as if it were a bounced check. I told them to have fun sending it to collections because you will never get another dime out of me. read more

Terrible experience. I Walk in and receptionist and co worker talking about what they are going to do this weekend and just stare at me like I'm rude to be interrupting that. When they are finished look at the clipboard and ask for my information. Should have left then but then go see Kendrick Lane, a pa who must have failed out of md class. Interesting...My first review was removed for some reason. That does not change the horrible experience I had with this clinic. BEWARE: If you are sick and need something more than a few words written on a SCRAP piece of paper, DO NOT go to Aspen Medical Care. I had a bad Sinus Infection that was beginning to affect my hearing, and I was told to use nasal spray and Mucinex. Luckily I got a second opinion and the amoxicillin I needed to clear it up. I then received an awkward letter in the mail about pressuring doctors for antibiotics and antibiotics abuse. I haven't been sick enough in 5-6 yrs to need antibiotics, and the one time I do, "Mucinex". I took it as a "F You, and have a good day." BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR HEALTH. read more

First experience: A few winters ago, I had a horrible cold/cough that I just couldn't kick. FYI, I always go with every natural option that I possibly can before going the prescription route. Now, this cold was interfering with work, I could barely talk. After two weeks of this, I went to AMC in hopes of getting some strong meds to kick this dang thing. I informed Dr. "D" of my weeks of trying to get rid of the cough with lots of tea, rest, hydration, neti pot use, etc. He prescribed that I continue with "MY" current plan, and that he did not think I needed meds. "Then come back in a week", he said. Things didn't get better (as I had already been trying this for weeks!). The cold was worse within days and I decided to call and ask for some meds again. I was told "the Doc won't prescribe anything until it has been a week". I was blown away and miserable. Luckily, a friend at work came to the rescue with some medicine that took care of everything in a few days. Second experience: I don't know why I went back, but I developed a chalazion on my eyelid two years ago. I had done my research and was fairly certain of what it was and how to treat it, I just wanted a medical pro's advice. Dr. "D" diagnosed it as a sty. I added that I thought it was not a sty and that it was a chalazion, which forms when a meibomian gland in the eyelid clogs. He disagreed...then referred to his laptop in front of me, then left the room, and then returned with his thoughts of it MAYBE being this chalazion I spoke of. There was no further medical advice I was given beyond what I had already learned from cross checking multiple sites on the net. With this situation, I was simply upset with the rude attitude I received when I was teaching the Doc about something he was not familiar with. When I go to the Doc...I'm suffering, I don't go for fun. I just like to feel cared for, not as if I were an annoyance, or just lying to get prescription meds. read more

Even if I were on death's door I would never again set foot in this so called medical practice. I went to see a doctor for a severe sore throat and earache and the doctor told me I was fine and to use allergy medicine. 3 hours later I ended up in Emergency care because of the pain and was told I had a severe ear infection. Then when I got my ridiculous bill I called to ask if the practice would waive the remaining balance my insurance didn't cover and could not get anyone to call me back. I finally received a call 4 months later to tell me my outstanding bill was going to collections. I asked to speak to the office manager at that point (again) and was told she was out of town so pay my bill. What a joke of a medical practice both in how they practice medicine, deal with patients in the office and afterwards. I'm surprised nobody there has lost their license for malpractice. Awful! Awful!
