My family and I have been a loyal customer of Baxter Eyecare for 10 years. I recently took in my Tom Ford glasses (that I purchased through them) for an updated lens replacement. They broke the frame and refused to get me another equivalent pair or even contribute to getting new frames. They were not even remorseful for breaking my $450 frames. Do not recommend supporting this place of business as they have no respect for your property. read more

Only good things to say about my first visit: easy process to set up an appointment, new patient forms can be filled out online, clean and organized office space, friendly staff, lots of modern frames to pick from, and I was in and out efficiently. They even sent over a check up email after my visit. When I need another check up, and I am still in the Woodlands area, Baxter Eye Care will be my choice. read more

I will not go here again! The Dr was nice and seemed knowledgeable. The problem is the high pressure sales technique! I went to the front desk after my exam to find to my surprise that I was being charged for contacts I had not even decided to order. I had not even tried the trials and they attempted to charge me 400.00 as a "down payment". The following week I decided the contacts were adequate and they again then wanted to charge me. I was made to feel uncomfortable not placing an order right then and there. Having been put off originally with the pushy approach I said I'd wait. I decided to order elsewhere more for the principle of the matter. I would have appreciated my freedom of choice to be respected. The other company I placed the order with could not find a benefit for contacts anywhere. Baxter Eye care had already "pulled" my contact benefit for contacts I had not even ordered!!!!! At this point it was confirmed that they are more concerned about money. Unbelievable and arrogant to just assume they could take my insurance benefit with me not even placing an order! It took a good 30 minutes to clear up the mess they had made with the insurance company. read more

Michelle hung up in my face and attempted to be professional giving poor customer service? I ended up canceling all my future appointments in the future because she hung up the phone in my face after I advised her that I had given all of my insurance information & ssn to a previous representative. She kept telling me I didn't give the information when I spoke to someone previously and gave them my information on line for 30 mins and holding while working. SHE COULD CARE LESS!!! Running away from this horrible experience and she needs to be in back office not speaking to customers. read more

demeanor show differently; especially coming from Heather.. she has worked there for years and each year that I come in she is always unprofessional, moody and seems to be annoyed with each and every patient.I came in January and they had quoted me a price that I couldn't afford at the time. I asked the girl at the front desk if I would get charged a no show fee because I wasn't aware that my benefits had changed. I asked her if she could bill my insurance and take the amount I could afford to pay and if not was I going to be charged a fee She told me, no I couldn't be seen and not pay the full amount but they most definitely will not charge me for a no show. Today, Kim and Amanda informed me of the charge and I explained the situation and Heather (whom is always of a bipolar like attitude wouldn't let me speak to Dr. Baxter and said that was her policy. As far as I am concerned, Heather is not management.. and I have gone to this company since I was about five years old. That being said, they will lose my business and my families. Along with all else whom ask me for a recommendation with eye care. Usually, you would think a company wouldn't want to lose a patient who has been going to them for decades.. especially one that takes pride in being a christian company. My recommendation to this company is take a huge look at staff and realize all the patients Heather has effected and that they are losing solely based on her attitude and moodiness. Do yourself a favor and don't pick this eye doctors office based on it being the "Best in The Woodlands". I've given myself three years to give them a chance and they are horrible. They WAY over charge and the staff treats you like you are stupid. Don't even try to get your medical records because they will say they can't give it to you because the insurance won't let them. Also, expect the one doctor to interrupt your appointments for their phone and to get up and leave the room at random times. read more

I've never had an eye exam or bought glasses from Baxter Eye Care. However, I was out of town when the nose pads on my glasses decided to fall out. I searched for the closest place to get them replaced, and ended up at Baxter. The employees replaced the nose pads on my glasses free of charge even though I didn't buy them there, and even gave me a cleaning cloth - and only asked that I keep them in mind when I need another eye exam! read more

I was very impressed by the whole procedure. The eye exam was the most thorough I have ever received. They have the very latest technology and they put it to good use. The tech was great during the preliminary exam and the doctor was great. She was thorough, took her time and explained everything as she went along. Then she shared the pictures and info from the preliminary and explained each test and what the results told us about my eyes. The ladies out front were vey friendly and helpful for fitting, insurance info, etc. I came away with the feeling that these professionals really are trying to give me the best eye care and office experience they can provide. Very thorough and professional. I appreciate that I don't have to get my eyes dilated as they perform a different mapping. They have a great Selection of eyeglasses and took the time to help me with my particular prescription. They handled my insurance so I didn't have to do anything with that. If paying out of pocket for contacs this office charges twice the amount of any eye professional in The Woodlands. My son wanted to try contacs but could not wear them. Went from paying for a full years contacs to a 20$ return after they did not work out. 166$ for a contac lens fitting. If fancy and overpriced is want you want, this is the place! Also wanted me to sign an appointment cancellation agreement but no details were provided in packet. read more

I have been using Baxter Eye Care for a number of years for all my vision needs. I find that Dr. Baxter is very caring, knowledgeable, and professional, as well as being very friendly. Well, the visit was just like any other visit. I didn't feel like there was anything special about this place. It was the end of the visit when you pay is what SURPRISED me. My mother has BlueCross BlueShield, with a PPO plan. Mostly we pay the co-pay at ANY medical visit and thanks to insurance we pay a small amount for contacts, which is what I went in for today as well as just a regular exam. When she checked me out & said my balance was $206, I was a little blown away. So what they didn't let me know is that the contact fitting would NOT be covered my insurance, or really my mothers plan, which I'm covered on. So my mother, whom doesn't live anywhere near the area I do, was completely frustrated with the office when they were unprofessional in that sense to let me know that I would not be covered for that one thing. I unfortunately am having a contact lenses ordered but don't know if I will be picking it up. I may be held responsible for knowing what my insurance does and does not cover, but it is literally their job as the receptionist. MOST medical facilities will make you pay upfront before the visit, maybe due to this reasoning and to avoid it completely. So I'm unfortunately sad right now but I will be okay. On top of it all - booking appointments is amazingly easy - I live overseas for most of the year and come home for short visits - they have not only been able to work with my crazy schedule but also get me my eye supplies (contacts and glasses) in record times before I once again have to fly back to my second home on the opposite side of the planet. read more

Dr. Shelly Daniels is a tremendous optometrist. I have been a patient of her's for a little over 2 years now. I have definitely seen an improvement in my overall eye health and vision. Before coming to see Dr. Daniels, I had seen another optometrist for over a decade. I would express concerns regarding my eye health or visual problems that I am experiencing, and these concerns were often swept under the rug. With Dr. Daniels, she always takes the time to listen to any problems I may have. She is compassionate and understanding. She thoroughly explains all the technical eye terms in ways that I can understand. I recommend Dr. Daniels to anyone who is looking for an excellent, caring, and highly experienced optometrist! Baxter Eye and Dr. Shosa has taken care of our family's eyes for a couple of years now. Not only have they been exceptional in eye care but, their staff will go out of their way to help with any needs you may have. Our son needed special paperwork and letters written required by the Air Force. Dr. Shosa handled everything with such promptness and professionalism. Today, we needed some additional paperwork and the office staff took care of it and had it waiting for us at the front desk. Everything is extremely organized and they always go the extra mile for you. Helping our son has been extraordinary and we can't thank Dr. Shosa enough. This place is the worst! DO NOT go here. First, they charge at least twice of any other eye clinic for the same services. It took going back at least 4 times for them to get my prescription right. Last, their customer service is horrible. When i was in a bind after I moved from the area, they would not even extend my prescription for a few weeks to get contacts after I ran out. They would only do it if I wanted to drive 3 hours and pay anothet ridiculous eye exam fee! There are plenty of better and more reasonable places to go in The WoodlansM read more

I am a fan of Dr. Daniels who diagnosed me with severely dry eyes that my previous eye doctor had missed but the front office staff can get very rude. They call multiple times the day before/of an appointment to confirm an appointment leaving not so nice messages threatening to charge a fee for missing an appointment. I had to cancel an appointment the day of due to a sick child and they charged me a fee. Really?! First time I had ever cancelled, never even been late to an appointment. They also failed to tell me that they are out of network after they discovered my health insurance did offer some eye coverage that I didn't even know I had and they didn't even bother to tell me I had some eye coverage until after charging me then it was oh maybe you can file individually and get some of your money back kind of thing. It would have been nice to know they are out of network BEFOREHAND seeing as I gave them my insurance info when I scheduled my appointment over the phone so I could have gone elsewhere to save money but what do they care if I save money. read more

First of all, i never write reviews but felt the need to document this visit. I was looking for a new doctor and selected Baxter based on reviews. Their staff, including the doctor, is not knowledgeable of options. This is what I was told, "you can use dilation drops and have blurry vision for up to 5 hours or you can pay $40 out of pocket for Optimap that doesn't use dilation". Since I had to drive, I asked about dilation reversal drops and was treated like a hostile enemy. The girl at the front desk obviously didn't want to deal with me and was very rude. Apparently she didn't even know what I was talking about. Thought I would do better with the owners daughter, my doctor, but, literally, the second sentence out of her mouth was, "It doesn't look like we are a good fit". She could have explained that the reversal drops are not really used in the business any more that and for nearsighted people, they would only help a little anyway. I was told I would have blurry vision for up to 5 hours when it would have been about an hour. To me, it sounded and looked like a way to make $40 off of me. Apparently,the customer is not always right. I guess they have enough customers and didn't need me even though I was about to spend $500 on prescription shades. Glad I walked out, going to a competitor that charges $29 for the optimap instead of $40. No telling what other services are overcharged. read more
