Dr. McAloon is the absolute best. Warm, great bedside manners, highly knowledgeable, an expert in her field, caring, thorough, diligent, you are in such great hands when you come to see her. The clinic itself is a bit rundown however. The furniture is all torn and worn, the walls look like they haven't been painted since the '80s, the ceiling is falling apart a bit, and even the medical equipment looks worn and torn. While it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing venue, it did not have any detrimental impact on the quality of care. The staff is friendly, and the physicians are some of the best you can get. All around a great experience. Would recommend. read more

First to send Leandro and then I was transferred to Castro Valley because a different company took it.. recently I had a doctor Howard and I noticed on my bill. I had an extra $10.. now I know $10 isn't anything but it's the principal. What they're charging me for I never got tested for that was regarding my balance. I'm very upset. Every representative. Dr. Carolyn McAloon is an absolute treasure. She's smart as a whip and has a terrific sense of humor/bedside manner. I don't know how anyone can give a negative review of this practice, (although my only experience with it is via Dr. McAloon...many doctors are part of this organization so if there is any problem here, it's been hidden very well from me!) Dr. McAloon is the absolute best of any specialist I have ever seen, and I am not one to use a lot of superlatives! My foot surgery was only two weeks ago and I felt instant relief and improvement, and today I'm back to doing 99% of everything that requires my pain-free foot to accomplish! That's two short weeks after going under the knife! And to whomever said they're in the business of charging for repeat visits: I challenge that characterisation wholeheartedly! I have not been billed one cent for what is now *three* post-op appointments. I even feel a sense of regret that, having fixed my formerly aching foot, Dr. McAloon is someone I will see less frequently in the future. 5 stars for Dr. Audrey Alvarez! I would come here again just to see her. But the practice itself gets only 3 stars, and that's probably after averaging in the stars for the doctor. I had an appt w. Dr. Reyzelman, but Dr. Alvarez is who came into the exam room. No one told me in advance when I checked in or anything! I don't think that's cool. But I'm so glad she was helping Dr. Reyzelman with his patient load that day, because she is absolutely the best doctor! She helped me so much, I felt so grateful. I did end up seeing Dr. Reyzelman while Dr. Alvarez was on parental leave, and he was a good doctor, but he didn't follow up with what I needed. He also had some other doctor walk in at first but then that doctor got Dr. Reyzelman -- I don't think he has time for the patients. Dr. Alvarez spent time to help me and get me what I needed to be better. The first time she saw me, she spent a lot of time with me and got a detailed amount of information before she started talking. She's very thorough! It's usually a long wait to check in at the reception desk, which seems odd. Also, when you call the practice, it's a centralized number, and it is pretty much impossible to get in touch with anyone at the office or leave a message. Sometime the main number doesn't even have anyone you can talk to! A centralized number is fine for scheduling and billing, but there should be a way to actually talk with or leave a message for the staff. A couple times the main number person said they'd leave a message with the staff at the office, but no one ever called me back. This was very frustrating. But even though it was frustrating, I'd do it again to see Dr. Alvarez. read more

I don't recommend this physician office. I came in for an issue with my foot, the doctor took a test sample, said I would get a phone call when the results came in. I never received a call. I have called to inquire about the results and was told I would need to make another appointment to come in. No record of any test taken was uploaded to my patient portal. Or even any notes from the visit. To date, no one has returned any messages or phone calls. Not even messages through the patient portal. Just don't waste your time coming here. read more

If it wasn't for meeting Dr. Reyzelman, my dad would have had his leg amputated below the knee two years ago. Today, he still has a chance at walking on his own two feet. My dad has been coming to the clinic for a non-healing wound on his toe. We first got in touch with Dr. Reyzelman through the UCSF Limb Preservation Clinic, and he has been giving us hope of *some* return to normalcy ever since. Progress is painstakingly slow due to diabetes, but Dr. Reyzelman has been by his side through it all, bringing years of experience dealing with complex diabetic foot ulcers. Drs. Alvarez and Vartavarian have also regularly seen my dad as well. All three have been a great team: caring, respectful, and extremely knowledgeable. read more

Disappointing experience overall. Let me start by saying that Dr. McCloon is quite pleasant however, after a year plus of treatments, my son's condition did not improve - it worsened. She ran late consistently so we had long wait times at her office. I also saw the doctor for my foot as well and found her to be dismissive after a quick exam for which I was billed a full office visit. The key to profitability for this practice seems to be repeat visits in keeping long-term patients. I feel that might have contributed to not suggesting an alternative treatment. I realized this after switching to a different doctor for a 2nd opinion. The other podiatrist was upfront about how much she could help my son and offered options that included an OTC med as well as consulting a doctor at Stanford hospital. Thank goodness for that as we are now seeking care at Stanford and hoping for better results. I regret the amount of time and money we wasted at Dr. McCloon's office. The second issue was the competency of the billing office. After almost a year, they realized that they are charging the incorrect co-pay. How does a medical office not know the correct co-pay? One they make an error and second they drop a bill with the difference without an explanation. Not cool. It escalated with sending me collection notices which took me a lot to sort out. You would think with their mistake they would make allowances or consider a write-off. Oh, and you would think the billing would start collecting the correct co-pay which they still didn't. Up until the last bill, I had no idea if I was being billed correctly. read more

The one star review is because the receptionist who greeted me today and ran interference with the doctor was polite and professional, but had to deal with an entirely FUBAR'd situation. I had made an appointment a month ago for "foot care" meaning have my nails trimmed. I also requested that my feet be assessed for any other issues that the doctor might observe. And I asked about laser treatment for my toenails that have developed fungus. I was told that the fee was $90 for footcare, and that the doctor would assess whether I would benefit from the laser treatment. I was told that the fee for laser treatment was $100 per toe. A lot of money, but it is a ballpark amount based on my research. When I arrived today I was told that if I wanted an assessment of my feet I would be charged a "new patient" fee of $200. Naturally, I explained the details that I was given by the person who made the appointment. The receptionist consulted with a Dr. Alvarez who said the fee was $200. Needless to say I left without having any service performed, but not before thanking the receptionist for her considerate demeanor. This clinic is nothing but a bunch of money grubbers who change up their fees for service. if they were truly honorable, they'd list their fees online. So, back I go to my spa where at least they declare the cost for service. Still looking for that podiatrist who is interested in treating patients with respect, though. read more

Dr. Jacka was recommended to me by my primary care physician at Sutter in 2016 to address a ganglion cyst on my foot. Dr. Jacka has great bedside manner, but not enough to recommend him. Net-Net: - Though he wasn't aware of it, he cut a nerve during what I was told a straightforward surgery. Nerve still healing after two years - He attempted to reduce the discomfort of the cut nerve via cortisone injection. The injection led to me losing pigment to roughly 4 square inches on the top of my foot (which led to a visit to my primary doctor which led to a visit to a dermatologist). - Luckily the pigment eventually came back after a year, but other doctor's said the loss (whether perm or temp) is very common in that particular use case and that cortisone was not the best play. I can't recommend Dr. Jacka based on my experience. read more

I do not recommend Dr. Alvarez. Went in for what I thought was a bunion with DR. REYZELMAN. Somehow I got Dr. A. Alvarez instead. Oooookay. It was near the end of the day, she comes into the room, very stressed and seemingly near the verge of a breakdown, oddly repeating several times "welcome back", condescendingly asking me about my pain and the types of shoes I wear, and confirming things with "Oh I KNOW". Her body language was very much on display. Yikes on bikes. I felt that I had to go along to avoid a confrontation and didn't want to stress her even more (I think she was expecting). There was a med student present, who I asked when she stepped out, if they were real busy to which he replied yes. Why are patients being scheduled in such a way that stresses out your doctors? It was a weird, negative experience. Pregnant or not, that just wasn't necessary. Don't think I'll come back. Give Dr. Alvarez some well deserved leave. Booked an appointment on a day that worked for me. Chose a location not close to home in favor of scheduling. Ran late for appointment, called ahead and they said come in. Got there ten minutes late and gave identification and insurance. Was then given lots of paperwork. Filled it all out and went to turn it in and was told they couldn't see me today because I am a new patient and was late. Are you kidding me??? I have been going here for several years. Started out trying to get rid of bad foot fungus. Dr. Reyzelman was caring, professional, and knowledgeable. After trying a couple of things, he got it cleared up and it never came back. After that, I visited every 6 months because as you get older, foot problems can happen without you even realizing it. Every time I go for a standard office visit I am brought in quickly, not giving me much time in the comfortable waiting room. I get a thorough exam and have my toe nails clipped, always carefully and without pain. The office staff are courteous and helpful. I recommend them to anyone with foot problems. read more

I am always greeted by Cindy at the front desk and then Dolores usually takes me to an available room. I was suffering 3 weeks with an ingrown big toenail, trying to self medicate, soaking,anti bacterial ointments, keeping it elevated..it just kept getting worse..couldn't go to the gym..could hardly walk around, I was miserable, if you have ever had one you know..I have had broken bones, root canals, etc..but nothing hurt any worse than this..I couldn't even let the sheets touch it at night ..like a hand grenade on my foot waiting to go off at the slightest touch. Finally I couldn't take it one more day.On a Friday morning.I called around the East Bay, Berkeley, etc and no one could get me in for a few days..Finally another Dr. Recommended Dr Jaka at Bay Foot Care in Berkeley, they informed me he wasn't in Berkeley on Fridays but he could see me in Castro Valley in about 2 hours..I said sure!! Its an older small building and an older office, but clean, and all the staff were very nice and friendly, after about a 45min wait Dr.Jacka came into the room, he is a friendly, youthful, thoughtful type guy who LISTENS to you!!..something many Dr's don't seem to do. He looked at my Toe and explained to me a few differant options and let me decide, after making my decision, he warned me that probably the most uncomfortable part would be the shots in my toe to deaden the pain..he was right..they were..ugh!..but after a couple shots he left the room and came back in about 20 minutes..I never felt another thing after that,no pain at all during the whole procedure, perhaps a little tug on my foot but No pain. It was a little sore that night after the numbness wore off, but not terrible, I didn't need any pain medication.The next day it felt great! I took the bandage off the next day as directed, and its now been 3 days and it feels wonderful!! What a relief!!..Back to normal life again!!! and back to the gym tomorrow. I took my mother-in-law to Bay Area Foot Care. She was treated by Dr. Jacka. He was professional, answered our questions thoughtfully, patient, and tender in his treatment. My mother-in-law has feet that have crumbled and collapsed. Walking has become agony. Dr. Jacka treated the callouses and corns. He also over saw the selection of appropriate footwear. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 50 years; went to Dr. Alexander Reyzelman w/diabetic foot ulcers, after a botched surgery by a knife happy Stockton podiatrist. Over the ensuing 5+ years since, I have had very near to 20 surgeries on my feet performed by Dr. Reyzelman, and I credit the man with my still having feet. It has been a blessing for me to have found him. He also conducts clinical studies perpetually and maintains a competent and friendly staff for each office function. i had a cast put on my right leg last Dec. at the Bay Area Foot care and they did not tell me that I could slip and fall with the cast because they assumed that I was wheelchair bound because I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was not wheelchair bound until they put a fiberglass cast on me without any slip proof material under the bottom. I ended up falling when I got home on the kitchen floor and broke 3 toes on the left footand ended up in a nursing home and then had to stay with a friend for over 2 months. They were dishonest in my records and they gave no warning about the cast. read more

I have had foot issues for many years and have been treated by podiatrists back east for over a decade, but finding a doctor here in the Bay Area that provides excellent care AND is convenient has not been easy. As friendly as Dr. Naleen Prasad was I have to give Bay Area Foot Care the lowest rating possible. I was pressured into a quick appointment to have surgery on both of my feet December 2014 to remove spurs and shave down a buinion. I explained to Dr. Prasad that I needed my insurance to cover the procedure with no out of pocket cost for me or I would have to wait until a later date. When she called to offer me a sooner appointment then scheduled I asked her was the billing situation that we discussed straightened out and she indicated that it was. I moved forward with surgery and was not at all satisfied with the aftercare and information or lack of information provided to me. She told me I could resume as normal with no restrictions NOT TRUE! Nine months later and my feet still are extremely sensitive in the area cut and I'm paying off doctor bills left and right. I called her office to discuss all the bills I was receiving and never heard back from her. This was my first experience with a podiatrist and it was an extremely unpleasant experience. read more

After giving me all of the options he made a recommendation which was not even the most expensive. I love this office, and the outstanding group of people who work here! Dr. Reyzelman is by far, the best in the business! I had a Venous Leg Ulcer for 10+ years that healed, then opened up again. I met Dr Reyzelman and his staff, through the Center for Clinical Research. After several attempts to get my ulcer healed, Dr Reyzelman found the correct course of action to heal my leg! For the past 2.5 years, I've seen 2 different podiatrists + a wound care specialist to treat my diabetic foot ulcer. In that period, I've had 2 surgeries & countless procedures (including hyperbaric chamber) with little if any effect. My life was on hold while being out on disability. Then I met Dr. Reyzelman. Upon our first meeting, he told me he could cure me & have me walking in 6-8 weeks. I was very cynical at first but really had no option so I moved forward. 5 weeks after his surgery, I was walking! Dr. McAloon you did not address the main problem. Communication, which there is none in your offices. As said we had to rent a wheelchair because one was not ordered for me. We thought it would be a temporary thing until apria and your cindy office help could get one. Phone calls never returned and apria is just as bad. After about 12 days of renting and not knowing what is happening, we purchased one. Cindy called finally and said she found one after 13 days. I blew up and told her we purchased one as we had not heard anything. I also told her we had changed Dr.s and we were done. That was before an appointment I had with you. The following week amy called and said you wanted to know why I did not keep the appointment on Friday last. I was being seen by doc parsad since oct 2016 she diagnosed me the same day with tarsal tunnel and tendinitis on top of my plantor fictitious all she had me doing were 2 mris and a nerve test and to do physical therapy 2x after telling her the first time did not work she instantly put me on disability she never gave me injections or any other type of treatments then 8 months down the road she told me there was nothin she can no longer do for me which all she would do is look at my feet but that she still thinks its a nerve prob so wouldn't extend my disability because she said she was being investigated so i called sdi myself and she was not under investigation from july 5th 2017 till now i have been broke with no money i asked her if she can sign my paper for disability until i get a new doc and she wouldnt at first i liked her but at the end she threw me under the bus and stopped completely caring for me but she sure didnt mind takin my $85 a visit. My complaint is regarding the billing and customer care. Although my mom has Medicare and supplemental insurance, she is required to pay large "Deductibles" when she has an office visit. Also, insurance paper work and insurance coverage policy does not appear to coordinate with billing. Several phone calls resulted in each person pointing the finger at someone else. However, the person allegedly responsible for billing says she is not responsible. Finally, we were given a story that would make Pinocchio's nose grow. Be very cautious before paying a deductible that should not be necessary. Be careful that you receive and review any paper work from Medicare or your supplemental insurance. And, carefully review everything, including what procedures are to be presented and its insurance coverage. My mom has been told several times she needs a procedure that is not covered by insurance.
