Had to take hubby to the ER on a Saturday afternoon for severe prostate problems. Wait time: 10 minutes. Nurses and Doctors were super helpful and friendly. Hubby went home with a catheter until he sees a urologist. Fun times ahead. read more

The MAs in the Orthopedic dept are the worst ever. They cannot perform the appropriate referral/functions and just laugh when you explain what they need to do. Literally I have requested them to follow through on ordering dx more than 6 times. They make the providers look bad. I referred several neighbors there only to get the feedback that they had to initiate all there own follow-up appts because the assistants did not do so. When the patient has to direct their own follow-up care it makes them lose confidence in the quality and safety of the facility. Their appears to be great disdain for the elderly patients who are their primary patients. Since they absorbed the patients from Coquille Orthopedics' closing it seems like they don't want us in their hospital. read more

The hospital is great for imaging and overnight stays if your doctor uses them for surgery. The ER however is a completely different story. I took my daughter in for severe pain and vomiting. We waited for 9.5 hours to be told a cyst on her ovary had ruptured. This could have been a life or death situation. My second experience I was brought in the ambulance with a broken ankle. They all gathered around me for about 10 minutes. Then left for awhile. 1 nurse walked in told me others would be coming in to splint me if I needed pain killers to let them know. I'm balling the entire time they splint my leg. My husband asks the nurse to give me pain meds which never happened. When I was about ready to be released I had to ask f I was going to see a doctor at all and another nurse said that's me I'm the nurse practitioner. She only said 3 sentences to me the entire time I was there. My husband and I were in shock. They told me it was a clean break go home call the orthopedic department and get an appointment. I did for 2.5 weeks later. Everyone pushed me to go somewhere else. After 2 more different opinions. I have 2 breaks, a tendon that needs repair and my whole ankle is crooked. They did not splint it properly which would be as close to 90 degrees as you can get. I need a screw and wire in one bone that broke clean off. And screws and a plate on the other. If not my ankle can become dislocated and could need amputation. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Bandon ER is better than this ER. This is where the ambulance took me, I should have asked for Coquille. I'm giving it a 2 star because the imaging department is great and overnights are great as well. No issues there. Nurse Practitioners should NOT be in the ER period!!! read more

was at the hospital from 6/3 to 6/5. had irregular heart beat. was sent home and told to call cardiac center to have a heart monitor put on for 2 weeks. i called and left messages june 5th,june 8th ,june 9th and june 10th. today is june 15th. no one has still returned my calls. i am a veteran. i have an appointment with my va doctor today and will let him know that from now on i will be traveling to a va hospital to get service instead of the bay area hospital read more

Im a senior and it was their billing error! BAH billing dept, failed to prior authorize 1 procedure. They had gotten prior auths. dozens of times over the past 3 yrs. When they were denied payment by insurance, for that 1 procedure they forced me to pay for their mistake by turning me into collections for $42. read more

Wow!! Best ER staff ever! they really care! they got me in quick.. actually listened to me. provided the best care I have ever received. I thought i had the flu but it was really a bad case of pneumonia! I received multiple treatments while in the hospital and was sent home with good medicine and great advice and I really got to thank that entire staff from the lady at check in to my nurse Taylor to my doctor. I hate being in hospital (only two very short prior experiences in 80+ years) but had to have two knee replacement surgeries done via South Coast Orthopedics, done at Bay Area Hospital with an overnight stay required each time. Experiences at the hospital were excellent. Separate ward with single rooms for orthopedics, available sleeping accommodation in rooms for spouse or other person accompanying. Meal service was restaurant quality - quite a lot of menu choices for almost any taste and need, meals available upon request and delivered hot by meal service staff. Nurse signed in each shift change, nurses were very attentive. Operation preparation and operating room nurses and staff also were first rate and efficient. Only problem was overnight when being wired up to monitoring equipment, blood oxygen level alarm was set at something like 92, for me the alarm went off quite a lot and woke me, had to call the ward desk to have a nurse switch it off. Finally at first stay the nurse thankfully switched the alarm off completely. But I recognize the reason for the alarm. read more

Was transported to the Er by ambulance after having a leg go numb with no feeling. Tests were performed In the ED and I must say their care was good. I spent two nights on the critical care floor and the care was good and staffing exceptional. It was the care I received the next two days in the fourth floor. Less critical floor. I found the staffing short on personal and more often than not when I asked for something it was not brought or done. I had to ask Again. Simple things like towels, a new gown, checking my blood sugar and much more. The fourth floor was only one fourth full so no excuses. I never saw a CNA after their first visit. Inky trash was emptied. No cleaning of the bathroom, floors, sink or anything. Urinals were left everywhere. On the sink in front of the TV. Sanitation was horrible and again several times I asked my nurse for something and she said I will be right back. Did not see her for three hours. No excuse as the forth floor had only nine rooms occupied. read more

Well the nurses were all amazing every single nurse I interacted with was friendly kind and helpful. The Drs however were the opposite, seemed annoyed didn't explain things well, I feel like I was bothering them by being there. i am a 76 yow had been vomiting for 2 days when to BAH they ran an EKG, CAT scan gave me an iv with meds to stop the vomiting. Dr James came in 4 and a half hours later stated bad news your blood draw and all tests we took came back normal. I don't know whats your problem. check with your regular Dr next week as this was a saturday. well I got the bill $8746 for No answer. great hospital, so sad it use to be awesome. Overall unprofessional and untrustworthy. Got into an spiff with a dork nurse in a Michelin man costume about putting on my gown while actively vomiting. I have to admit I was a little leery to come in through the emergency department however, to my surprise, I was treated with respect dignity and even fed really tasteful food, which, as a healthcare worker I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure if it's because of understaffing shortage of actual Drs or if they just employ the first ones that apply not bothering to interview to see if these people are qualified, actual care, or are compassionate, or what but I've been to the ER twice since my PCP has pushed off my first appointment and I have had a medical issue come up that needed immediate attention. The PCP staff always seemed irritated as if patients are an inconvenience. They have bad attitudes and very rude didn't respond promptly usually takes a few weeks if at all. Was told to go to ER. I was missing quoted on intake notes as if the person writing them just wrote whatever they felt like. Had a CT scan with contrast and the tech was very rude and short. The inject was excruciating caused bruising. My arm is still swollen hot to the touch and minimum mobility. Was put in a secondary waiting area, limbo, and forgotten about for hours. My clothes ended up soaked with blood and mucus so I left. I took the day off to be mistreated and neglected? Absolutely not. My insides were hanging outside my body! Why was I never examined? Why did I never see a Dr? You would think with the severity of my situation something would have been done. All home remedies failed obviously. read more

I have given the emergency department chance after chance but after what I just dealt with; I will be going to CVH in the future. I was seen in august because i passed out multiple times, they ran a few tests gave me some meds and said it was a respitory infection, this felt wrong to me. I was seen once again on November 30 for passing out again, however this time I lost my vision and hearing, urinated myself and was able to cover myself in vomit in 5 minutes of being down. I was taken to them, and they did get me in fast yes, but i did not get seen fast. i had the pleasure of sitting in a padded bed from 12:30-5:30am. Now i don't know if it was because of shift change or if these poor nurses were too tired to even do anything but i had even fewer tests run this time than last. Weird? Eventually they told me it was syncope, but my ECG showed that i had an abnormality, i didn't hear that from them though, luckily i have Mychart and was able to address it with my pcp. My "DR" was not dressed appropriately either and my companions got a full face of her crack and thong while i was being ignored. they asked me about medical history and then put "denied releasing medical history" like I didn't spend 10 minutes yapping about it. Ultimatly i would suggest leaving coos county to be seen if you can my nurses were fantastic though! read more

My significant other had to be admitted recently because of diabetes 2 complications resulting in surgery on his foot. From the time he was admitted until the day he was released he (and I) received the absolute best care you could ask for. The doctors, specialists, surgeons, nursing staff, case managers, dietitians, etc., were outstanding with their care of this patient. Going above and beyond, with the medical care and helping establish the much needed assistance with a place to stay for recovery after being discharged. We cannot say thank you enough, to each and everyone involved in giving the very best care and support during his hospital stay. We are grateful!! read more

I was seen in the ER after my headache infusion on Aug 21. My port a Catheter was accessed. When getting discharged from the ER I decided I wanted my Port left accessed since I know how to take care of it. The Er nurse refuse to heparinize my port if I didn't let her deaccess it. She started yelling at me and threatened to call the cops on me. I left do to feeling unsafe. When the officer call me, he told me the nurse said it was against the law to leave the hospital with the port accessed. I let the Sherrif know it is not against the law but a hospital policy. I told the nurse it is a crime to lie to the police before I had left. The ER likes to violates a person's rights. Even Risk management is no help. I still ended up throwing a blood clot into my leg that night after my D Dimer was off the charts. I warned the ER I could throw a clot but didn't care. Jennifer Irvine read more

The Triage unit was absolutely amazing! They made me feel so comfortable and were so caring. They answered every one of my call lights quickly and efficiently. The RN nurses I was blown away by especially Katherine. She was so personable, professional and caring. This unit seriously works on one another as an amazing team. People are always trying to tell us not so nice things about BAH. However, was there for a raccoon bite and left amazed and satisfied. Understand it was slow but before i could open one of the books i brought Tom opened the door and brought me inside the halls of ER. Asked some questions about the bite, removed my bandages, sent me to another room then Jason (who worked on the stream lining of ER)c ame in soaked, flushed, and re-wrapped me up. Voila on my way out there door. Fantastic Team Work. My prescription for antibiotics was ready and waiting for me at Bi-Mart. No more boxing with Rocky for me from now on. read more

I went to the er yesterday after injuring my shoulder and collar bone during a fall. The doctor that took care of me, Dr Susan Thompson was excellent. She stayed in the room for quite some time explaining everything to my husband and myself. I got the feeling that she really cared about what was going on with me. She even let me know that she was going to talk with my primary doctor about my medical issues! The only reason I gave four stars out of five was because it took three hours for them to give me nausea and pain medication. So I was very uncomfortable until that point. The hospital was extremely busy and she did apologize, so I don't think it could be helped. read more

This is the worst resort! The staff are hit or miss with their attitudes. The showers are cold. The beds are worse than a old hide-a-bed couch. And the worst thing is.....if you are in pain, you will be made to feel like a drug addict to receive your medication. While in ICU one of the nurses collapsed my vein by pushing the IV flush with all her force. My other arm is covered in bruises all done by the same nurse trying to establish an IV. I understand the hospital isn't a resort but come on a few creature comforts for the infirm please!! read more

I give it four stars based on a friend's stay, my interaction with some staff, and its aesthetics. My friend's mother-in-law received great care; furthermore, she was happy with the service that was provided, so I defer her experience as my basis of their performance in that area. The staff I had personal contact with we're professional, polite, and courteous. Each employee seemed to generally care about their patients and that person's well-being. I liked the hospital's architecture, location, clean facility, its landscaping and interior decorating. These aspects seem project a comfortable environment for patients and visitors. A nice feature is the hospital rooms. They are well designed and can accommodate guests with a day bed type couch for over night visitors. read more

My wife was brought in to the ER while she was in town dealing with her parents estate after they recently passed away. I was called to let me know and drove over from our house in Springfield right away. When I arrived I was told they were not allowing any visitors. When I asked for information as to my wife's condition, I was told they would send her nurse out to talk to me. No one ever came out. After 2 hours I asked again and waited another hour before someone finally came out to tell me they were not sure what was going on with her but that they were going to discharge her soon. I work at a hospital and have for over 25 years and have never seen such poor treatment and bad communication. This type of treatment would never fly at our hospital. read more

6/20/2020 I had a short stay surgery this week. Once again, I cannot speak highly enough of the care I received-all the way through. I was treated as though I was the only patient there with all the nurses and staff treating me so compassionately. They took away any fears-especially the nurse in OR who held my hand as I fell asleep! I was a patient there for several days last year and had the same experience. Highly recommend. read more

The worst... nurses there are condescending and think they're better than others. Not all nurses are bad but I don't recommend having a baby there. Their MOMS program is ok but the nurses at the birthing center are so rude and just awful. The head nurse will ignore your concerns and will call DHS on you if you're a minority. The worst nurses! exception of two or three... they made my first child experience incredibly difficult and made me cry. I mean, I cry often but they made me depressed. read more

Had an issue with vertigo that complicated my bleeding ulcer. The staff was incredibly professional and both the ER Doctor and the one assigned to me once admitted, were exceptionally smart Doctors. I have had a long lasting uti leading to a kidney infection and I have went here three times in two days. The first day to be pushed aside and told I have a stomach bug, the next day to be told it may be ulcers but they aren't ALLOWED TO MAKE A DIAGNOSIS!! And on day three I was told I have a minor uti by the male ER doctor. I drove an hour to the next emergency room to actually be treated properly. My roommate was having a diverticulitis attack and we went to the ER at BAH. While we were there the nurse was very rude. Saying that she's so young to go the hospital so many times. Basically treated her as a frequent flyer. She also said that there being generous by giving her some pain meds. Basically calling her pill seeker. They didn't give her a CT scan to make sure it's diverticulitis they assumed send her home with medication. When my roommate ask what diet she needs to be on the nurse told her to go online.
