I can't recommend Bay Area Tutoring highly enough. At times, it can feel overwhelming to know how to help your child build the skills to succeed on their own, and Bay Area Tutoring truly steps in when support is needed most. High school is stressful both academically and emotionally, and having this kind of guidance in place has made a real difference for our entire family. From day one, the owner, Homayoon, has been wonderful. He genuinely cares about student success, does an excellent job matching students with tutors, meets with parents and students, and has been incredibly helpful in guiding us. Last year, my daughter was overwhelmed by chemistry, but Bay Area Tutoring completely turned things around. She finished the year with an A and gained the confidence to take on other challenging subjects. I can't say enough great things about BATC and how they have made a tremendous positive impact on my son!!! The amount of personal care that was put into making sure he was seeing growth and improvement was mind blowing. I feel that they truly were invested in him as a student and was there to celebrate his successes and encourage him every step of the way. Hamayoon made all the difference for my son. He helped him raise his math SAT score within a month 150 points and provided exceptional tutoring in all math subjects. In my sons sr. Year he had the toughest math teacher at his high school. Homayoon's tutoring made it possible for my son to receive one of the highest grades in his pre-calc class. My children were students at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, super fast paced with teachers that almost don't teach, especially in the Math Department. Homayoon and his group of tutors (Lars, Matt and Amir) were the real teachers for my kids through out high school. DVHS has a tendency to rush through the lectures and not fully explain; they leave alot up to the kids to do on their own. BATC took the time to explain the foundation, work through problems along side my kids and prepare them thoroughly for exams. In addition my daughter used BATC for SAT prep, unfortunately due to COVID all SAT exams were cancelled. Homayoon was very patient and thorough. Both of my kids got into their 1st choice of colleges, so all the tutoring help paid off nicely. I also have to commend Cheyenne, who had the herculean task of coordinating schedules. Between my two kid's extracurricular activities and work, Cheyenne was able to find time for the appropriate tutoring sessions. I would highly recommend. read more

My son had SAT summer boot camp in some other learning center, and he got 1360 which was lower than what he scored in many practice tests. I have heard Bay Area Tutoring Center is pretty good, so we gave it at try. After only a month, my son achieved 80 more! The receptionist is very friendly and responds very quick. My son loves his both English and Math tutors. Plus, they are very flexible! I highly recommend this tutoring center!!! read more

This review is really overdue. I started at this place as a student myself. Homayoun and other tutors really helped me in every step of the way, preparing me for tests and exams. Later, I became a tutor myself and still had a great experience; having Homayoun as my boss was just an exceptional experience. I wanted to like this place. A friend recommended it, and I tried to get an appointment for pre-calculus tutoring sessions. I called and left a message.. A week later I hadn't heard back. I called and left another message.. No response. I finally called later in the evening (8pm) and spoke to someone. The young girl told me she would try to accommodate the student. They were doing "special tutoring sessions for private school students," but, again, never heard back from them. When I called two days later, I spoke with the same girl who told me that they were completely full and couldn't find any availability. She was "trying to fit the student into the schedule, but they couldn't accommodate her." I'm sorry? I thought you were having special sessions for private school students? Oh well. We found someone from craigslist that's worked out great. read more

I have never written a review before on Yelp but I stumbled across this review while looking up the Bay Area Tutoring Center for nostalgia's sake. Basically, the Bay Area Tutoring Center is amazing. I went there for Honors Chem (Monte Vista, during the times of Mr. Roster!), AP Biology (with Mrs. Cannon), and Honors Trig (with Mrs. Spilker). I was tutored by Humayoon and Alicia. They were IMMENSELY helpful. My grades improved by at least one letter grade (which I think is a lot!) and more importantly, I understood the concepts so much more. I struggled in these classes because they were AP and Honors classes in which the teacher had to cover a lot of material over a little time. My tutors helped break down that material on a more individualized basis so I could better understand the concepts. Tutoring was always fun and I looked forward to going because I knew that not only would I get the help I needed, I would have fun doing it. I definitely recommend sending any student to the Bay Area Tutoring Center! read more

They have been exceptional in customer service and meeting our needs. The tutors there consistently break down challenging learning situations and turn them into manageable pieces my child can understand. They prepared her well for tests and finals last year, and were flexible when she needed additional help for test preparation and her tutoring date fell on the the "wrong" day of the week. I got tutored here when I was in high school for chemistry and a couple of math classes. Most tutors are super friendly and after working with them I totally got a better hold on the subject matter and understood some pretty complex stuff BUT.......keyword being BUT--- my grades in the classes I got tutored in never actually improved, I feel like the tutoring I got helped me just not feel lost and be able to just pass with out being totally stressed out. read more

The tutors do not know what they are doing and are not trained. My son's grades did not improve and they told me he needed more tutoring. My son said the tutors just told him to do his homework and it he needed help to ask them. He said he repeatedly ask for specific help and they had no idea how to help him. He asked to get help preparing for tests and he said they would just go over his homework. I would definitely steer clear of this place! Amateurish and pretty pricey. The center took our money and never performed as promised. They promised to test our daughter with problems to make sure she understood material. After taking over $2000 we found this place to be a not satisfactory. Our daughter was getting a D. We went to the tutoring club where they did what was promised. Now our daughter is getting almost an A. Praise from teacher and really understanding Geometry. Get your kid out of the tutoring center as fast as possible. Go see Holly at tutoring club in danville. Great for ACT prep. My daughter raised her score by 6 points and we are thrilled. Not 5 stars because communication is a nightmare. No one ever answers the phone, nor returns messages. They don't seem to have a front desk person at all so the business is terribly mismanaged but the tutors are great. We continue to use them for AP classes but God help you if you need to speak to someone. read more

We've been very impressed with the quality and responsiveness of Bay Area Tutoring for both group and private tutoring sessions. My daughter is currently doing ACT prep work and loves working on a weekly basis with her tutor who gives her practical work as well as tips and strategies for taking the exam. My daughter has also participated in small group sessions prior to AP Calculus AB exams. Hamayoon went above and beyond to make sure all six students in the study session had the information down before they left. We also received a call two weeks in advance of finals from the tutoring center to find out our daughter's schedule so they could make sure she received the review she needed prior to her exams. I've been going to the Bay Area Tutoring Center my whole high school career. As I graduate, I can honestly attribute much of my academic success to the staff at Bay Area Tutoring. Homayoon, the president of Bay Area Tutoring Centers puts incredible amounts of time into his business. He spends most of his time tutoring students in high level classes (Physics, Calculus etc) while also managing the business. The center as a whole has a very personalized approach to learning, their tutors are extremely approachable. Homayoon seems to treat his students and staff more like family than just co-workers or customers. I have noticed over the years that this approach creates a learning environment that is much more about just going through the paces of homework. It really allows everyone to feel welcomed and motivated. The Center's approach to learning has been evidently successful throughout the years. I have always had many friends that have gone to the tutoring center for various classes. The Center's tutoring always is in high demand. During finals week, there is a continuous flood of students that come to Bay Area Tutoring for their scheduled sessions. However, the office staff works countless hours in the weeks leading up to finals to fit all of their students in the schedule. They are often very considerate of everyone's individual schedules and very precisely schedule group sessions to fit everyone's needs. I can honestly say that Bay Area Tutoring Centers provided a chance to bond with my classmates and confidently learn the material in ways unseen in the classroom. Homayoon had tutoring sessions catered specifically for my teacher's honors class. Between the 4 sections taught by my teacher at Monte Vista there were over a dozen of us who came in for help. Homayoon understood the class and the teacher inside and out. He provided insightful lectures and desperately needed homework help. During the 2 months I received tutoring I saw marked improvement in my quiz scores and salvaged my grade to finish the semester with a B-. Some of the other tutors aren't great, but the guy who runs the place is hands down the best for Monte Vista students who need help in any science or math class. This is in response to the misrepresented reply by the Bay Area Tutoring Center. I trusted the people especially the front desk at the San Ramon tutoring center. But this tutoring center's mission is not for the student's best interest or for them to succeed. Their goal was to get the most money possible from the parents who want the best for their child even if you have to lie. That is what they did- get the most money by deceiving parents. My daughter finally told me that the tutors that teach the SAT study course do not know what they were teaching and I did confront the lady at the desk about the sample SAT test she promised. It was all a lie. It is your hard earn money that you are giving away without any results to show for it down the road. BEWARE read more

We have had excellent experiences with Bay Area Tutoring Center over the past 6 years with two of our sons. Bay Area Tutoring came highly recommended to us by many friends and top students in our sons' school. Their prices are competitive with other tutoring centers in the area and are even better if you pre-pay. for multiple sessions. We have really appreciated their scheduling flexibility and efficiency. If you have to leave a message, they call you right back. We have never had a "bad" tutor yet as the owner Homayoon only hires top notch people. There have been times where one tutor may be a better fit for a student than another and the Center does a great job at figuring out a great fit and working with parent concerns. They offer free full length practice exams for SAT and ACT prep and take the time to review the results with the students and parents. This service proved to be invaluable. Our two boys are very different learners and used this tutoring center for different subjects and reasons. We were amazed at how the center was able to accommodate their different needs. Homayoon the owner is very experienced and takes immense pride in his business. He has never hesitated to come up with a game plan with us or switch up a teaching technique to help our sons achieve success. He really encourages the student to take ownership of their learning and he really cares. When you get tutoring for your child you pay for support, you are not paying for an "A". The student still has to do their part.
