We've had a wonderful experience with Bay Area Tutors, Daron and our tutor, Can. We were referred by a friend who had a great experience with Daron, but we were reluctant to try because we've found that online classes are tough for our teenager. They really have remote tutoring dialed - making sure you have the right equipment (document camera, no chromebooks) and best practices for how to work remotely. Tutoring has gone really well, and we've been so impressed with how Can goes the extra mile in preparing extra questions relevant to the lesson and also recording explanations when they run out of time. This new integrated math is tricky, and Can really breaks it down and helps our teenager understand the concepts. The entire intake and onboarding process occurred asynchronously and online, and it turned out great. Tracy is exceptionally patient. She provides many approaches, visuals and strategies to help break down the complicated steps with probability questions in statistics. I can see why we are seeing all 5 star reviews here. This is a great plan that allows kids to either get on track or back on track. For my boy who was in the midst of his 1st year in high school, it was also the 1st time he ever home schooled due to Covid. Prior to Covid, he had been on the principal's honor roll, year after year, in middle school. He got into high school and was struggling bad, even failing one class. When Daron told me about Bay Area Tutors, I thought it might be a good idea to allow my son some one on one supplemental tutoring. My daughter has struggled with math throughout elementary, middle school and now high school.  She is a visual-spatial learner and has difficulty sustaining auditory attention. Additionally she has some anxiety disorder, and experiences social stress and fear of failure. Math is her least favorite subject and as a result, struggles to understand and apply the concepts. We've tried other math tutoring programs, but they had no positive impact. These other math tutoring businesses only frustrated my daughter further and she seemed to give up. Additionally, the switch to online/remote learning further exasperated my daughter's success with learning math. There was no accountability via the online system to check what my daughter was doing. Online tutors from these businesses tutor multiple children at the same time with worksheets given to the student to work on. The tutors wait for the child to ask questions. My daughter has a fear of failure, so if she thinks she doesn't know something, she won't ask. Fast forward to mid-April 2022, and my discovery of Bay Area Tutors and Daron Cam. What a difference he and his assigned tutor, Christina, has made in just a month's timeframe. I was looking for proactive tutoring to ensure my daughter was learning and applying the concepts. My daughter is taking AP Calculus and started the year struggling. She devoted a lot of time trying to understand the concepts and worked hard on solving the problems, but it just wasn't clicking. After a few low test scores, she decided to drop the course for the easier Honors Pre-Calculus.
