I came to know this school through the Bay Church, but my experience left me disillusioned. The staff and teachers may claim to be Christian, yet their actions often reflect the opposite. Judgment is constant, cliques run deep, and teachers play favorites while showing little patience for children. Instead of encouraging growth, they silence voices and push kids to mature too quickly. The endless fundraising became unbearable--it seemed like every week brought another demand for money. And the Class Dojo app, which should have been a simple communication tool, turned into something that felt more like Instagram. I eventually deleted it out of frustration. What's most troubling is the disconnect between what's preached and what's practiced. Faith is spoken, but not lived. As Matthew 7:20 reminds us, "By their fruit you will recognize them." Parents deserve to see the reality: behind the polished image, this school fosters hypocrisy and division, not the values it claims to uphold. read more

Our family's experience with the preschool program at this school was exceptional. The preschool teacher and the program coordinator were warm and had a collaborative spirit. Kudos to the preschool program for making our child's early learning experience positive and enriching. We were very pleased with everything! Unfortunately, our experience following preschool did not meet the same standard. We observed a big shift in the approaches the school used. We had concerns about a lack of cultural sensitivity and limited willingness to engage collaboratively with parents. The disciplinary actions seemed developmentally inappropriate and punitive for young children still learning about social-emotional skills and impulsiveness. During meetings, we also encountered interactions with team members that felt dismissive and unpleasant. I lost faith in open, constructive conversations about our child's needs and progress. However, I think their academics were decent and appropriate for my child---my child performed well. Unfortunately, our child's teacher utilizes TikTok to post disparaging comments about parents. It was unprofessional and damaging to the sense of trust between them and us. My child's classroom environment also appeared overly focused on rule enforcement and behavior management through tools like ClassDojo. There was a lack of emphasis on teaching self-regulation or emotional growth. We hope the school will continue to build upon its strong preschool foundation and revisit its approach in kindergarten to support the holistic needs of its students better. read more

This is a review for the Preschool side. My 3 year old attended her first year of preschool at Bay Christian School last year and she absolutely loved it. Ms. Sonia-Maria is an amazing preschool teacher! My daughter can be pretty dramatic sometimes with her cries, but Ms. Sonia-Maria was very gentle and able to calm her down. My daughter came home almost every day talking about how much fun she and her friends had in class. When she would have one of those rough mornings where she didn't want to go to school, she always asked for Ms. Sonia-Maria and everything would be fine. This says a lot to me about how she is treated when I'm not there and makes me feel safe leaving her there for the day. I'm happy with their curriculum for each day and find that my daughter has learned so much. She required speech therapy last year but once she started preschool, I was able to remove her from speech because there had been so much improvement from communicating with her classmates. My daughter will be attending her 2nd year of preschool with Bay Christian School next month and I have no doubt she will love her next teacher just as much. read more

This is a long overdue review. I am disappointed with their Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kendall. A little bit of background info, my daughter had never attended a preschool, and did homeschooling before her first day of Kindergarten. I made sure Mrs. Kendall was aware of this, and expected her to be graceful during this transitional period. There was no grace. We were called in on the SECOND day of school because of my daughter's "behavior." Mrs. Kendall suggested a behavioral plan, and we happily implemented it the moment we got home (i.e., having my daughter raise her hand at the dinner table to speak, sitting still, waiting for others to finish talking before she can talk, be aware that Mrs. Kendall is authority and respect ALL teachers, etc). Luckily, by the third day, my daughter was able to meet Mrs. Kendall's expectations! I met with Mrs. Kendall after class, and was happy to hear that my daughter wasn't talking during class, raised her hand to speak, and recognized Mrs. Kendall as authority and treated her with the respect that she is entitled to have! I thought we were all in the clear, but then I received a call the second week. On Friday, my daughter bit a 1st grade boy. My child had never been aggressive with anyone, so this came as a shock to me. The Incident: My daughter wanted to play with a ball that a boy had brought from home. She had repeatedly asked the 1st grade boy if she could play, or if he could share the ball, but he continued to refuse. Then my child "stole" the ball from the 1st grader. The 1st grade boy tried to take the ball away from my daughter, and that's when she bit the 1st grader. My child was taken to the office where she threw a fit, and hit/pinched the teachers that tried to calm her down. I was called to pick up my child because she was dangerous and should be removed from the premises. I admit that my daughter biting the 1st grade boy was wrong. (She also apologized to the 1st grade boy, and he accepted her apology). However, I am definitely disappointed with how the school handled and responded to the incident because I later discovered that NONE of the staff members asked for my daughter's side, and only exacerbated the situation. The Incident (Reconfirmed with my daughter): After she took the ball from the 1st grader, the group of 1st grade boys started to grab and push her. That's when she bit one of the kids that grabbed her. Why was it okay for these 1st grade boys to treat my daughter like this and why weren't they punished for their behavior? After this incident, Mrs. Kendall took my daughter straight to the principal's office and told her that she was in trouble and she was going to be sent home. My daughter, devastated, threw herself to the ground in typical tantrum behavior and started to cry. The teachers were grabbing her from the ground to put her in a chair, to which my daughter "hit/pinch" them. In reality, my daughter was scared because she saw 3 angry adult strangers who were grabbing her, and she didn't want to be touched by them. Mind you, the staff has established no trust or relationship with my child as this was still the SECOND week of school. Mrs. Kendall called me later that night to inform me that my daughter was unfit for the school, and that she would be kicked out from Kindergarten. No second in-person meetings. No second chances. My daughter was not allowed to come back. You see, I was fine with my daughter getting kicked out. It was stressful to look for a school that could take my daughter last minute, and to this day, my daughter still does not feel safe to go back to the Bay Church facility. BUT what angers and disappoints me is Mrs. Kendall's UNPROFESSIONAL and certainly UNQUALIFIED diagnosis of my daughter. During the last phonecall, she said that she suspected my daughter was suffering with BIPOLAR DISORDER and AUTISM. My child is now attending a different private school with a Kindergarten teacher who has less years in teaching than Mrs. Kendall, yet somehow she is able to cultivate my daughter's true potential as a God-loving student. I never got called in again for my daughter's "behavior" nor did I ever have to worry about leaving her at school. This incident was a blessing because my daughter is now graduating from Kindergarten AND she also graduated from her "Bipolar Disorder" and "autism!" Overall, I'm disappointed. This school is no longer the school that I once loved. To the Bay Christian School, please reevaluate your staff so they could reflect the school's mission. read more

We love this school! All of my children have attended the school since preschool (the two eldest since second grade). Preschool was amazing and so was their experience all through grade school and middle. The only thing I will say is that once my highschoolers got to a public charter school, they had a little bit of a hard time adjusting, however, that is because the school has a very small graduating class so keep that in mind. Now, my last one is in the third grade and is having the same wonderful experience that her brother and sister had when they were going through the school. The teachers are wonderful and the support staff as well. It is like a family. I am a bit disappointed to see the negative reviews regarding the kindergarten teacher, because she is especially one of my favorites and is one of the most patient and loving humans I know. I think us parents should take on more responsibility for the behaviors of our children... realizing that it is a partnership between the student, family and school to make it a successful and good experience. If you are looking for a school that teaches God loving children how to treat each other with kindness and respect and at the same time academically challenged them I would recommend this school. read more

I would not recommend BCS to anyone who does not have the perfect cookie cutter child as this school does not support all its students, but rather turns its back on them and discards them when they need support the most! The turnover with staff and teachers is incredibly high. Several of the incoming teachers have very little teaching experience and do not have control over their class. Class sizes are equal if not greater than that of public schools. The students lack supervision in class and during their recesses, which literally take place in the parking lot. I was rather reluctant to enroll our child there in the beginning as I'd heard mixed opinions from other parents. Now after three years of our child attending BCS I realize they were 100% right and I should've listened and sent my child to a school that embodies and practices actual Christianity. I'm not even sure where to start. I LOVE this school and preschool! Three grandchildren were in the preschool and every staff member was so loving and caring. A big shoutout to Miss Donna and Ms Teresa for dealing with my very headstrong and vivacious granddaughter who is quite a handful (said with much love and admiration). The preschool is preparing her well for Kindergarten and the other two were well prepared to enter Kindergarten. Mrs Kendall is an amazing Kindergarten Teacher. She is patient, kind, loving, and goes above and beyond in academics. They have learned so much this year under her tutelage with the help of Mrs Arendsee. Due to COVID19 I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of Homeschooling and wasn't sure that I could do it. The dedication of this school and staff shined so bright through this ordeal and they made it easy. They were there every step of the way, put in numerous hours with preparing lessons, videos, and Zoom meetings. Mrs Kendall would get back to me very quickly with help and answers anytime I emailed her. I just wish they had been around when my children were young!! read more

We have had our daughter at this school since 1st grade! We love it and so does she. It is small enough to where she has gotten the best teaching attention that children need now a days. Yet big enough to have sports and music and other events to keep the kids involved in what other schools are doing. The staff is excellent!! All the way from the Principal to the Extended Day Care before and after school. Teachers are awesome and take time to teach our daughter, which has made her an A student every year. We are so blessed to have found the best Christian School in the area. This is her 8th grade year and she is not wanting to leave! Both of my boys attended CTCS (now Bay Christian School) from preschool to 8th grade. I am very pleased with the education and personal attention they received from their teachers and the excellent Principal, Mr. Jackson. My oldest is now a high school graduate and college student and my youngest is in 10th grade receiving mostly A's. We feel the foundation they received at this school made a huge difference. Will not recommend this school for kindergarten. Class ratio almost 26 students with one teacher and teacher aid. Which I believe is stressful for the teacher. Once the teacher does not like you or have the opportunity to kick you out, she will label you and never say any thing good about you. My son had terrible experience even though he went to preschool their. Teachers in preschool were great and excellent. Kindergarten experience for my son was a nightmare to him and us as a family. Had to withdraw him from that school. Now he is doing excellently well. Never had I received any complaints from the new school. Different experience for everyone. read more

Where do I even begin with my adoration for Bay Christian School? My kids have loved going to school there since kindergarten and my oldest is now in Jr High! The staff have easily become my dear friends. They treat all of the kids there with love and respect. They communicate accomplishments and difficulties. The Principal and office staff has made everything from the enrollment and re-enrollment process to graduation non time consuming or difficult. I love CTCS! I drive 40 minutes one way from Antioch to take my daughter here, it's that amazing. The elementary teachers are invested in the students and truly desire the kids to succeed academically, personally and spiritually. Mr. Jackson, the principal, consistently interacts with the students during drop off times and walks through the classrooms during the day to check in with the students and teachers. I am confident that my student is in a safe environment and that gives me immense peace of mind. I love watching my daughter grow and learn here! read more
