Our doula, Mo, was such a gamechanger for our family. I had a tough labor and having Mo support us during my recovery was crucial. My postpartum anxiety was next level and she immediately put me to ease. She's such an expert at her craft and we learned so much from her - from bathing our newborn, to paced feeding, to figuring out my pumping schedule, to soothing techniques - truly so much of what we learned about caring for a newborn was learned from her. We also just loved getting to know her - she exudes warmth and we genuinely enjoyed her company. We had her 3 nights a week, initially for just the first 6 weeks, but we ended up extending for a couple more months. We had a fantastic experience with Bay City Doulas. The doula selection process was seamless and communication was quick and professional from first contact through completion of our contract. My employer partners with Carrot and Bay City Doulas made the reimbursement process very easy. Our Doula, Theresa, was wonderful. She truly cares about providing support that suits the preferences and needs of the family. She took the time to learn about me and my goals for feeding, sleeping, and overall care of my newborn. Theresa has such a sweet and calming presence. My daughter was very happy in her care which made it easy for me to get rest. I ended up spending a lot of time with Theresa during middle of the night pumping sessions, and her company was invaluable to me during the vulnerable postpartum period. I started looking forward to her visits not only for newborn care, but also for conversation with someone who really understands what postpartum moms go through. We ended up extending our contract because we were having such a positive experience. Needless to say, when the contract did end, we were very sad to say goodbye to Theresa. Briza was an absolute godsend during our postpartum journey. From organizing our home to helping our older child embrace his new role as big brother, she thought of everything -- including taking tender care of me as I recovered. Her warmth, skill, and generosity made an overwhelming season feel manageable and even joyful. We also want to note that Briza wasn't the only wonderful doula we met -- we worked with about 6-8 doulas from this agency in total, and each one brought her own kind of care and expertise. We had an outstanding experience with Bay City Doulas from the very beginning. Even in the early weeks after we found out we were pregnant, their team offered personal, responsive support and consistently followed up to make sure we were able to access our Carrot reimbursement to cover postpartum doula support. Their kind of proactive administrative help really differentiates them as a company. Postpartum, we have been working with Mo, Heily, and Theresa, and each of them has left our home calmer and better rested than they found it! When our plans suddenly changed due to a brief hospital readmission for me and an unexpected work trip for my husband, Bay City Doulas helped us adjust coverage quickly so we were never left scrambling for support. The daytime hours have been a godsend. Laundry gets done, random piles of kid and baby stuff are organized, the baby is fed and settled, and our older child has even gotten extra attention as he adjusts to being a big brother. He now talks about Theresa by name :) Our overnight doulas, Heily and Mo, have also been fantastic. They are completely independent in making sure they and the baby have everything they need so we can maximize sleep and actually recover. It's clear that Anathea and Cosima are thoughtful in how they select and train their team. I've used Bay City Doulas twice now! First time was with the birth of my 1st child in 2022 and then I used them again for my 2nd child in 2025! I had such a good experience with them the 1st time, I knew I'd use them again. I used Jackie Lough in 2025, who I would 100% recommend a thousand times over. It felt like having a mom come take care of me, our baby, and our family. She brought us food which honestly was so wonderful and helpful since I was recovering from a c-section with a baby and a toddler now. She took care of our baby amazingly and followed any advice we suggested, but she also gave advice if we asked for it. Honestly I probably asked her advice more about my 3 year old who was sick constantly. I cannot recommend Jackie enough, I truly would not have survived postpartum with my 2nd child without her and the Bay City Doulas team is always very easy to work with, on top of things and I love that there is back-up care if you need it (we didn't this time, but we did use it in 2022 because our baby came a lot earlier than expected, which was so helpful). All the doulas I've worked with through them in 2022 and 2025 were very professional and on-time, I do think you have to find the right person/fit for you, but the were all really great. read more

Summary: Bay City Doulas' contract contained errors and inaccuracies. Cosima refused to change anything, even simply correcting the wrong start date. We had to walk away because of the risk. Details: After waiting 4-5 days for the contract, we were told they wouldn't hold our doula longer than 48 hours. For a $20k+ contract, that pressure felt unreasonable, but we rushed our review anyway to respect their time as a small business. The contract had multiple typos and, critically, tied the start date to a singular, specific, and incorrect delivery date which is a real risk given the date of delivery is a range (not the specific date they gave). We asked for corrections and for the language to reflect what was promised in email and verbally. Cosima refused all changes, saying they've never amended the contract for any client. We found that Cosima would make verbal promises, but those mean nothing when the written contract says otherwise. The team also made incorrect claims about our Carrot plan, that we could swap in more doulas as backups, when they were aware our plan has a cap. This further eroded trust in the accuracy of what we were being told. Other 1-star reviews on Yelp and Google from clients who signed reflect the reality of these contracts causing issues for clients. Despite liking our doula, we couldn't sign a $20k+ contract with known errors and an owner unwilling to fix them. read more

Our doula Crystal was truly a lifesaver for those first 6 weeks with our twin girls. She was always calm and effective in getting the little ones fed and into their bassinets. She also adapted to a lot of our requests to use apps like Huckleberry for tracking and equipment like the Snoo. We learned a lot from her and adopted many of her techniques as first time parents. We were looking for help overnight to take care of our first child as I recovered from a c-section, and my spouse returned to work, over the nighttime hours. As new parents, we were also looking to learn from the team on care for our newborn. Bay City Doulas exceeded our expectations! We had the pleasure of working with Cheyenne for a little over 4 weeks during my recovery. She was not only highly responsive to our baby's needs but also helped to educate us on best practices for taking care of a newborn. The help through the night reassured us that our baby would be taken care of as I recovered and allowed us to catch up on much-needed sleep after a hectic hospital stay, leading to more quality time with our baby during the day and uneventful recovery. I contacted Bay City Doulas a couple months before giving birth, after deciding that having a night doula would help us tremendously as first time parents with no family help in the area. They were quick to respond after I reached out, and Anathea scheduled a call with me to discuss my needs. She promptly connected me to one of their doulas, Kem, who she thought would be a good match. After having a positive video call with Kem, we agreed to move forward, and proceeded to have a fantastic experience over the next eight weeks. It was very clear from day one that Kem is an experienced caregiver to babies and mothers, as she was so gentle and kind with our newborn, as well as supportive of me and my postpartum needs. She was very flexible in following our lead in supporting whatever we needed, and I fully trusted her to care for our newborn while we got some much needed sleep in between feedings. She tracked all the feedings and diaper changes, and was very communicative, reliable, and trustworthy. Kem also checked in every day on my well-being and answered all of my questions related to breastfeeding, my own recovery, etc. Additionally, she taught us some invaluable lessons and positive habits to help settle the baby for sleep that set us up for success as we transitioned out of the newborn phase. Anathea and Cosima reached out regularly to check-in, and were available for any time I needed to contact them. We had a great experience with Bay City Doulas! Since we don't have a lot of family nearby, we knew setting up postpartum care would be vital. We secured a doula when I was still pregnant which I highly recommend - no stress or guesswork later. Anathea and Cosima were extremely professional and attentive and set us up with Kem who ended up being a perfect fit for our family. We had a few calls and meetings before care started to get to know each other and manage expectations. Then Kem started once we were home and settled. It was incredibly helpful to have an extra pair of hands in those early days. We are first-time parents so we were questioning everything, but Kem was a wealth of knowledge. She helped us with her first bath, breastfeeding, emotional support, soothing techniques, and more. In the daytime, she helped cook or do laundry. At night, she allowed us a little extra rest and gave sleep tips as well. And when Kem was sick, Bay City Doulas got us a backup doula at the last minute for uninterrupted service. We worked with Cheyenne from Bay City Doulas for our first month postpartum. As a first time parent, we completely underestimated how sleep deprived we would be and how steep the learning curve was. It was amazingly reassuring to have Cheyenne for night support. She showed us how to better care for him, sooth him when he was upset, change his diaper more effectively to prevent leakage, etc. I spent many late night pumping sessions just chatting with her about what to expect and ways we can help get him into a routine later on. It was nice being able to get some extra rest knowing that your baby is excellent hands. She made our first month of parenthood much easier and less stressful than it would have been. She is a wonderful person and is incredibly kind and warm. Bay City Doulas was incredible to work with as well. I ended up giving birth two weeks earlier then expected and they were able to provide us replacement Doula support until Cheyenne was available. Each person they sent to us was kind, knowledgeable, and took great care of our baby. The owners also call every week to check in which was really nice. I would definitely work with them and Cheyenne again in the future if we needed more support. read more

When searching for a postpartum doula agency, we felt immediately connected with Bay City Doula at the initial intake call with Anathea. She was incredibly down to earth, easy to talk to, and very responsive. And had a doula in mind for us almost right away. I had the opportunity to meet a doula, Karina, on Zoom first and then she came to visit with our family before our son was born. Karina was so warm and easy to connect with. My toddler daughter also took to her right away. Our experience with Karina over 6 weeks was truly amazing. Our newborn son and our family were so well cared for, it felt like Karina was a part of our family. We were so sad when our contract came to an end, but Karina helped our family get into a great routine managing 2 under 2 and really set us up for success. I contacted Bay City Doulas and others after baby arrived, and Bay City Doulas made the process so smooth, when I was postpartum and underslept. They were able to accomodate me with a tight turnaround. We worked with Ashley for a month. She constantly offered her help even my toddler, and she took care of things that I told her not to worry about because I felt they were out of scope. I never had a moment of hesitation leaving my newborn with her while I got some much needed rest, and she was very sweet with my toddler. We just hired Bay City Doulas to help with our second child right after he was born. Our family was looking to have some extra help so we could get more sleep. We worked with Crystal who was our night doula. She arrived prompt every night, always washed her hands, dove in and started helping right away. She bottled fed the baby multiple times a night, swaddled him, changed diapers and helped with the baby's laundry and bottle cleaning. This allowed us to get a full nights sleep. She never once had to interrupt us, she was amazing at getting him comfortable, fed and back to sleep. She communicated all formula oz, and diaper changes with us each night. Additionally the staff at bay city doulas was helpful from the very beginning. They connected us to a doula immediately, helped us with the paperwork needed for our benefits administration and called multiple times to check in to see how we were doing. After interviewing with several doula agencies, my partner and I decided to work with Bay City Doulas for both birth and postpartum care. Bay City Doulas now only offers postpartum doula care, so that is the experience I'm going to review. We interviewed and decided to work with one of their doulas, Chalia, and signed a contract with Bay City Doulas. Chalia was new to doula work, but she had worked as a nanny for many years. We liked her and decided to give her chance, but that was a mistake as she quit their company before our baby was even born. Because we were under contract, we had to choose another doula from Bay City even though we could no longer work with the person we initially chose. We met with their doula, Nevelyn, who was still available. She did not have doula experience, but she was kind and passionate about newborns, so we felt ok to work with her for the 8 postpartum weeks. This was mistake number two. We had a few issues along the way- safety concerns such as her double swaddling the baby, letting baby's hat slip down her face while she was sleeping, leaving burp clothes on the edge of the crib that could easily fall onto our sleeping baby. Scheduling issues such as: after just one week of working with us, Nevelyn had issues with the schedule (the schedule that we made together months in advance), her asking us to change the time of a shift with just a day's notice, her arriving a few minutes late almost every evening and having one foot out the door at 6am or earlier. By around week 4, Nevelyn seemed extremely checked out and uninterested in being a doula any longer. And finally- she had a "family emergency" that made it so she could not fulfill the last three weeks of her contract. Bay City Doulas offered to try to have someone else fulfill the rest of the contract, but at this point, we were completely done with working with them. We were paying $2,400 a week for this suboptimal experience. (The cost is $50 per hour, but they won't share how much the doulas are actually paid and how much their agency keeps). The majority of this company's positive reviews are for Cosima and Anathea. BUT they no longer do most of the doula care work; they just manage the logistical side of things. They are both experienced doulas that decided to pivot and start hiring doulas to work for their company. Anathea and Cosima are extremely good at communicating and seeming professional. The problem is that they are supposed to be screening and hiring competent doulas, but their focus seems to be on quantity, not quality. I would not recommend this agency. read more

Our experience with Bay City Doulas has been amazing. The whole process of planning and setting up with the right doula for me was very easy. Kem was our doula, i can't imagine going through the first few nights from the hospital without her. She was really there for me, always checked in on me and i felt very supported. We had her for the first 2 months and it made our life so much easier. We were able to setup a sleeping schedule for our baby early on and it has really brought sanity to our lives. She always made sure I had water and a snack through the night. The bottles and pump parts were always washed and sanitized making our mornings easier. She really became part of our family. We had dinner as a family every night and enjoyed her company. She always gave me great advice on any of the issues I had. On days I was down I could always just talk to her and she was there to listen to me vent and made me feel better. Post partum is hard as is and hiring Kem was the right choice for us. read more

We used Bay City Doulas for 16 overnight sessions when our son was between the ages of 2 months and 5 months. The service is extremely well managed and run, which gave us confidence in the quality of the doulas before they even arrived. The service admins take the time to get an understanding of your needs and then checks in on a weekly basis to make sure your care is going well and discuss any changes in your baby's needs. Brittany was our first doula and she was great. Our son had silent reflux, and Brittany was able to find ways to keep him calm and happy at night so we could sleep. She also made recommendations for various equipment we could use to help (thank you for the tip on the husher!) keep him calm during the night. Our second doula, Georgia, was very experienced and helpful as well, allowing us to get some much-needed sleep.  Navigating doulas and doula services can be daunting as you're either preparing for your child to come or especially if you're like us, and desperately searching for a good night's sleep after your little one has arrived. We recommend Bay City Doulas as that trusted and organized service with prices that are on par with quality doulas in the area. read more

My husband and I are so glad we decided to hire a doula for postpartum care for our second child! Overall working with Bay City Doula was great, Anathea and Cosima were very responsive and they would check in every week. We had Breanna and Shanelle come in for 5 hours during the day, 5 days a week for one month and they were amazing, very helpful and great with our baby. I was able to fully trust them with our newborn and catch up on much needed sleep, which I feel definitely helped speed up recovery. They both provided wonderful support, not only through newborn care, washing bottles, doing laundry, vacuuming, tidying up the apartment etc., but they always had words of encouragement for me and tips on taking care of both my newborn and my older toddler.
