Baypoint marina is the perfect location to enjoy a summer on Lake Erie. It is unfortunate that with the great location you get a complete lack of any semblance of customer service. If you need reliable wifi forget it. It won't happen. If you expect to be nickle and dimed for everything you'll be ecstatic. If you want to be treated as though you've spent greater than three thousand dollars for the right to perch your boat then this is not the place for you. Baypoint does not care one bit about their marina members. They don't have to. They have the best dirt in town. You'll love everything about Baypoint with the exception of their senior management. You are an afterthought to the ultra-wealthy who are building houses that they rarely use. If you spent any time at Baypoint in your youth you will be sorely disappointed at what it has become. The place is AWFUL, Do not go there after checking in went to the room trash everywhere in the walkway got in the elevator a board was missing on the floor they fixed it themselves by putting another board in it was really unsafe When we got to the room open the door smelled like cig smoke one of the beds a hole looked like made from a cig, the other bed had a stain we left the room and checked out the person at the desk said we will get a refund tomorrow well i thas been several days and still have not gotten it read more

Nice beach, decent marina and restaurant, good location. BUT terrible customer service. The office is always nasty and treat you horrible. They talk down to their customers with holier than thou attitudes. Very frustrating to deal with. Customer service was much better before they were bought in 2020. read more

Been at BP for years. Marblehead area all my life. Do not come here if you are expecting a nice place with good treatment. Management and customer service is terrible. They do not care about you. This corporate owned (out of state) is all about profit. They will over charge for everything. Slips are outrageous, more than double their competitor's for really nothing of value to show for. Slips are becoming more and more vacant. Restaurant and market is over priced, under served and just plain out crappy. Office staff and gate people are rude. If you want to be taken advantage of, you came to the right spot. I recommend finding another location. read more

This beach is a wonderful place to enjoy the sun, sand, and Lake Erie. The people are friendly, and I often leave having more friends and contacts in my phone than I came with. The view is spectacular (I added some pictures below). Furthermore, while enjoying the beach, you can eat and drink to your heart's content. Bay Point Marina has a bar that makes delicious drinks, such as Shirley Temples and Strawberry Daiquiris. The drinks are not expensive, and the bartenders are very friendly and engaging. They also have a restaurant, Dunes Cafe, on the beach with seats perched on a deck, so you can still enjoy the sun (picture below). read more

Woah. I drove from Westlake (about and hour and 15 mins) with my family to check this place out. We've been looking at properties in marble head and are considering a club membership. (Somewhere) I went to the welcome center and should have known right away to just turn around. They only allow 20 minute driving tours for prospective members which I guess is ok but it doesn't allow you to experience much. When you pull into the property, the lake and beach are on the left-hand side along with a restaurant. We pulled into the sand parking lot so we could get a glimpse of the beach. We pull our 3 and 5 year-olds out of the back and started to walk to the shoreline. (Street clothes, no towels or beach furniture). We got about 10 steps when the woman who checked us in at the welcome center came running up behind us screaming my name. (Like running, I'm not kidding). "You can't use the beach" I said "Huh?" "I just want to look at the beach". "You can't use the beach!" She said again. "If I can't look at the beach how do I know if I want to join?" She threw her arms up in the "I don't know" motion. I said OK and my wife and I and kids got back in the car. I suppose she didn't want us to see all the cigarette butts and trash that were on the beach so I guess it makes sense. Mind you it's 11 o'clock in the morning and 65° and no one is around. Even the restaurant is closed. Totally bizarre frantic behavior. We continued on the tour just the same though but at this point I have anxiety like I'm doing something wrong. I continue down the road and see the pool. It was your average pool nothing special. The pool membership costs extra not sure why that is but oh well. We continue on and see the marina where I see major flood damage which to me means they don't take very good care of the property. We continue on and see the beautiful houses along the left-hand side which make a great presentation. Continuing on I can see the upper middle class housing on the right hand side with no lake views but clean nonetheless. We continue down the road and noticed the campground... The property literally has a trailer park on it and I'm pretty sure I heard a banjo playing. At this point we turned around and left. Never to return. What an interesting dynamic, with all of the wealth (about 10 homes) on the island. My suggestion would be they don't allow tours on the island at all. Especially since they are at capacity as it is. Allow people to think it is an exclusive resort and not the mess that it is. read more

So many fond memories of summers at BayPoint! Little cottages to rent, lots of open green space, multiple beaches to use, Putt-putt for the kids, playgrounds, par 3 golf course and then it was sold to a land developer and ruined forever. Now they are building 120 army barracks so close together (and ugly) that they are running this once lovely place into the ground. While I understand the need to make a profit for the business, they are doing it at the expense of the dock renters and residents. #americangreed read more

Bartenders are rude and lazy. Lots of underage drinking going on, bartenders should be more careful!

Baypoint Marina is a nice marina with resort amenities. I got the opportunity to visit as a guest. There is a par 3 golf course, tennis courts, condos, rental cottages, beaches, a restaurant, and more. The restaurant, Dunes Cafe, is very ok. I had a chicken salad sandwich that was subpar. The golf course is nice, albiet nothing special. The beaches are also nice, even though they're on Lake Erie (judge for yourself). You are a 20 minute boat ride from the Lake Erie islands and a 10 minute boat ride to Cedar Point, which you can see from the resort. The marina itself is very nice and is great for the boat owners. However, the reason for the 2 stars is, come Fall 2007, condos will be built over the golf course and many other areas of the marina, ruining the resort aspect of the place. If you know someone who has a boat there, visit. Otherwise, find elsewhere to put your boat. read more

Bay Point is a little slice of heaven on Lake Erie. The property is top notch with natural sand beaches, sand bars, a pool, walking trails, protected bay water on one side and open lake on the other. The restaurant and bar are very busy on the weekends and the food is slightly above average. Regardless, the atmosphere is top notch. Close access to Cedar point and the Lake Erie Islands. It's not a cheap place but worth the cost in my opinion. read more

The sales people will tell you how wonderful the marina is and all they offer, what they don't tell you is this: Bay Point Marina, in Marblehead, Ohiom, accepted my money and I placed my boat there happily. The marina is very nice and has a resort-like feel. However, when a fellow boater brought to my attention that she could not get a pool pass because they were limiting the number of clients who could use the pool I was shocked. She stated that she thought she paid for the pool becuase on the contract it states "Resort Fees". I thought the same thing! So we determined (by talking with Office Staff) that the dock fee covers nothing and you have to pay to use the beach which is at the cost of $495.00 on top of the Dock Fee of over $2,000.00. In discussing this with the other 5 new boaters around me, every single one of them stated that upon talking with Marina staff they were told the Dock comes with the beach access. However, later we come to find out that the dock does not include access and you have to buy the access to the beach with a "Resort Fee". When I spoke with a particular individual about her complaint to the office she told me that she was denied the pool even though she was never given an option (they never sent out paperwork for those who purchased the dock in April 2013, this was checked by 3 staff members in the office). The employee who worked on her contract never sent her the paperwork for the pool membership. I, along with the others, were also never sent the paperwork. When we originally called the sales girl told us we could have access to the pool with a fee. It was only after we already paid, that we found out the confusing paperwork, as well as, the incompetent staff and poorly planned Marina management where not willing to fix their obvious mistakes and false representation of what the Marina offers. There was no mention of limited pool memberships, what the "Resort Fee" was for, and what the process in general of acquiring access to all amentities. So my family and friends who came to this Marina with the best of intentions have now been scammed out of thousands. The false representation of the Marina not only affected me, but others as well. And the one girl who did call the management office to complain and take action against the injustice was told they could not do anything for her and told her they would not even put her name on a waiting list. When I went down to be put on a Pool Membership Waiting list I had no problem, but I believe because she complained they denied her even that. Being that she has small children who can't use the pool, while all the other kids around her can, I feel sorry for her. My friends and I believe that the representation of this Marina is horrible. Yes, there is a pool but everyone can't join! The beach access does not come with the boat dock as stated by them, you pay close to $500.00 dollars extra. The showers are poor and water pressure is not enough to get shampoo out of your hair most of the time. There are many dock lights that are out on my dock and in three weeks they have yet to be replaced. They store the boats during winter in the parking lot of the Marina so if people choose not to put thier boats in the water, you lose your parking space. This Marina is poorly managed!!!!! It is a very nice place, but they will take your money and leave you without what they offered you in the first place! There are a lot of us first timers here this year (2013). We are angry and mad as we can't afford to pay for another marina and go to court. But that is how businesses like this do it! They reel you in and your stuck, so they just win all around! The owner of this Marina should be ashamed of himself. So many children are let down and sad that all they can do is watch from outside the pool gate, while the parents spent a lot of money for nothing! (I might add that I just found out that Bay Point Marina profits 5 million a year! Someone on the dock over just told me and I looked it up! Discusting!!!) Bay Point just wants your money, they do not care about the experience you have there! It s a beautiful place so they will always have people coming in, but I feel that the unfairness and complete lack of organization and process methods should be known to others. Please call the Marina yourself. Do not ask what I have told you here. You will then see for yourself that they do not tell you everything and hold information back. I disagree with the other review (written in 2007). We have been members at Bay Point Marina since before the condos and homes were built, and although we were concerned initially, the development has done little to detract from the marina. It is still the nicest marina on the Lake Erie coast, and we personally know people who drive four hours to get there every weekend. Bay Point Marina attracts people from Dayton, Zanesville, Youngstown and Detroit. I strongly recommend Bay Point to boaters. The only disadvantage is the shallowness of the marina for sail boaters. read more
