After reading many reviews, we picked this beautiful inn to stay at during our trip to Door County. It was even better than expected! All the rooms are very spacious suites with nice views of the water. Being right on the Sturgeon Bay, it has a big lawn, a pier, and seats for watching the magnificent sunsets. Though it is in a quiet area off the beaten path, it is within a short driving distance to Sturgeon Bay museums and restaurants (including Culver's, McDonalds, and local restaurants), and not far from many other tourist attractions in Door County. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite had a full kitchen, large living room, fireplace, jacuzzi, and deck, and it was very well-maintained and nicely decorated. This has been a great place for years but it needs updating ASAP. We stayed recently and noticed several problems that don't have to be there. The bed in the master bedroom is shot. The mattress should have been replaced a year ago. Waves in the ocean! The bathroom cabinets are cheap. The exercise room is locked, and the key is in another building. Which is understandable considering the little kids running around, my room keys could have been set to open the door. The location is away from anywhere you want to find food, so you have to drive to restaurants. On the good side, the view is worth the price. Go out on the deck at night to see more stars than you've seen in years. The sunset over the bay is beautiful every evening. The place feels safe and comfortable. Prices are reasonable considering all you get at Bay Shore. I'll probably go back again. read more

I spent a long weekend at the Bay Shore Inn and I loved every second of it. I bought the winter wonderland package for my girlfriend and myself and the level of service I received was amazing! The staff went above and beyond what was needed to make sure I was receiving the level of service I desired. The package included an amazing trip to a few different wineries as well as some hot spots around Door County. The rooms were very clean and very accommodating. The kitchen had more utensils than mine does at home. I can honestly say that I will be returning to the Bay Shore Inn in the future! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. This was our first time in Door County, we were visiting from California, and didn't know what to expect. I heard that Sturgeon Bay was busy and had really wanted to stay in one of the other towns (none offered 2 night stays). I am so happy it worked out the way it did. The Bay Shore Inn is located far from the hustle and bustle of downtown Sturgeon Bay. It is so peaceful and traquil that I completely forgot about the cranes and activitiy we drove through to get there. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ground floor unit that had a partial view of the bay and a huge deck. the unit was huge. Both rooms were kings, very large with their own bathrooms. The living area was also very roomy. The only thing that was a little tight was the kitchen. It worked but was a little cramped when two of us were in it. The inn offers so much to those who are staying there. There is a large beach, an indoor and outdoor pool, kayaks, row boats, sand toys, lawn games, BBQ's, board games, free DVD rentals, a fire pit, a game room. We only stayed 2 nights and we would have been entertained for a week. read more

The Bay Shore Inn is tucked away just north of the town of Sturgeon Bay and is a perfect place for a reasonably priced retreat! We visit here during the winter and get a special - stay two nights, get a night free! Each suite has a kitchen, living room, and separate bedroom. And every suite has a view of the Bay. BSI was recently remodeled, and the suites are "rentals" which means that the decor is slightly personalized. Overall, this place is very much like a home away from home and one of the most peaceful places on Earth! read more

My family has been coming to Bay Shore Inn for 20 years. My parents are owners my brother and sisters share vacation time. Bay Shore Inn is a wonderful place to take a vacation. The staff is friendly and always helpful. The outdoor pool is pleasant and relaxing (ok, sometimes kids play in the pool, but it's fun to watch them play). The outdoor fire pit is a great place to meet in the evenings to watch the sun set and enjoy a beer and hotdog :). Outdoor gas grills are available for grilling. Row boats, paddle boats, and kayaks are available, as well. The grounds have comfy chairs and lawn chairs. Gorgeous view!!! read more

They built these buildings in the 1980's and that's where they stayed. The only upkeep they've done to the condo's, buildings is what is absolutely needed. Anything else forget it. If there is another well maintained option for similar price go there. Pro's -Price -View -Pools -Location -Staff -newer LG Smart TV's (some are hard wired to Internet source, others that aren't can't connect to wifi). Con's -Trash from room service was left in halls all night outside unit doors. -Dead spiders hanging from light fixtures for days (cleaning service should have knocked them down while cleaning daily.) -Appliances (old coil electric ranges not well maintained) -Appliances (dishwasher cracked housing poor condition) -Shower heads needed to be replaced years ago. -insect infestations (ants-where they sprayed raid while when complained, known problem as there were ant traps in room.) -game room, missing pool balls, darts missing tips, camera fake. -pool area, fans rusted out, lights don't work, burned out. -pool rules signage either out dated, or no longer in effect as toys and floatation devices were in pool, open glass drinks were being used in pool area without a care from staff, the glass containers were safety concern. We left outdoor pool at 8 as sign said 8, other people were swimming until 9. Update signage or enforce posted rules. -Poor/No lighting on outdoor paths, note the outdoor path connects buildings where indoor pool is only in one building and is open past dark so people walk said unlit path. -Carpet should have been replaced 10 years ago. -Poor non-existent Internet/wifi in condo rooms. Have to go to hall way or public areas to consistently get access, so hopefully your mobile plan works in door county (seems only Sprint has towers). When asked the staff said the guy was just out today it should be working (clueless). -No air conditioning in one of the two bedrooms (need to leave door open for bedroom if you don't want to roast in 90+ degree heat.) All units are cooled by window or unit coolers, which that room does have a large floor to ceiling window so one could have been added/window shortened. -Patio smells like dog urine (may be plants that they planted but doesn't smell pretty.) -in unit doors don't close, stick/open hard. -old outdated physical key entrance doors. (should have been updated to electronic years ago.) -electric outlets pushed in leaving large gap between outlet and face plate. -old outdated alarm clocks don't work (clicking all night even if off). -exterior doors to patio don't close right, stick poorly maintained or abused. Note: to management, take care of the above cons and this place would be much better, and would increase my rating to 4 or 5. My family has been visiting multiple times a year for 20 years and it's a shame that things have gotten this bad, we're looking for other places now, and we don't really want to as we've always liked this place it's just it's not well kept and I don't see things turning around. I travel to Door County frequently for business and have stayed at Bay Shore Inn on quite a few occasions over the last two years. During the week the one bedroom suites are affordable, spacious, and quiet. The wireless Internet connection is pretty fast for Door County and has a strong signal regardless of which room I'm in. The full kitchen is really a plus to have extra food or leftovers on hand. The staff have been consistently helpful, informative, and friendly. If I need dinner suggestions with my clients, they always have recommendations both in Sturgeon Bay and parts of Northern Door County. Their local knowledge is a huge help when spending several days at a time. Overall, Bay Shore Inn has been consistently fantastic. read more

Just returned home from a 3 night retreat up to Door. This was my first time and had a blast! My gf booked the winter special and was very impressed with the charming main lodge, layout, location and views. Did a lot of research before finding this gem. I could have stayed in our room the entire time. It had a huge living room, separate dining room, bathroom with whirlpool tub, balcony, and kitchen with full-size appliances. It even included plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, pot/pans, and cooking utensils. We only ate out for dinner and cooked everything else in the room. Perfect for a peaceful getaway. read more

After some research and reading previous reviews, I decided on this place for our 3-night stay in Door County. It had everything we needed and much more. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchenette and Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The view from the balcony was also amazing. The whole stay was peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. Our suite was very clean and had everything we needed. I even mentioned special occasion getaway while booking and there was a complimentary bottle of wine from a local winery waiting for us on the counter. We were lucky enough to have warm weather during the whole stay so we took full advantage of outdoor pool, complimentary kayaks, paddle boats, bikes and everything else the place had to offer. We also used the indoor pool in the other building. Staff was always friendly and helpful. The location was also good for exploring Door County. Would not hesitate to go back and stay there again. read more

Absolutely the best place to stay in Door County. We love our supreme room 102 that has a lakefront view. I'm sitting outside on the patio, listening to the sounds of the lake waves hitting the shore. It's the closest thing to being on the ocean! This place has so many amenities, it accommodates families with people of all ages. We love this place so much we have already made a reservation for next year! read more

I love the location and the amenities here. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, and the grounds were well manicured and very clean. The pools were nice and warm, though the hot tub was a touch too hot to be comfortable for more than a few minutes. The rooms were very large! I found the sofas a bit uncomfortable to sit on, but the beds were nice, which is more important to me, personally. Things felt a little damp indoors, I think maybe due to the rain and only window unit A/C, but I never smelled mold, so maybe it was just me being sensitive to the humidity inside. I loved having access to paddle boats and kayaks, and the little dock with the bench was wonderful and peaceful to look out at the bay. read more

I expected our suite to be nice, from reading other reviews, but it was outstanding. Our suite was very clean, modern, functional, and light-filled. We had a terrific view of Green Bay from room 307. If you want a one-bedroom suite, definitely ask for 307. We decided to stay an extra day, so we had to move to suite 306, which didn't have an optimal bay view and wasn't as modern, but, still, it was a really nice room. The only potential issue I could see was that 307 didn't have an air conditioner in the bedroom (just in the living room), but we didn't find it a problem, since nights were cool and we could open the windows. The location is also perfect, as its north of Sturgeon Bay, in a quiet area. It felt secluded, yet it was very close to everywhere we wanted to go. read more

We were to stay at the Bay Shore Inn on June 10-12 for a family vacation. Our party included myself, my partner Ryan, his brother Mike and sister-in-law Jenny and their child. About a week before, Ryan called to check on some details regarding the room floor plan and prices for the onsite massage therapist. The desk attendant was rude and treated him as an inconvenience. He also asked for an early check in and was told we could check in at 1 pm Friday. On Friday, we arrive about 1:40 pm and the desk clerk says the rooms won't be ready until 3 and claimed to know nothing of an early check in. They were able to get us in by 2:30. On Saturday morning, a steady drip started coming from the fan/light fixture in the bathroom, above the toilet. Ryan called the front office about 9 am, and was told to put a towel under it. Eventually, after much discussion, the clerk finally called in the manager, Joe McMahon. He showed up about 11 am to look at the leak. He said it was probably an overflow from a bathtub, but that if it didn't stop he'd have to call a plumber. We then left for the day. We returned at 5 pm and it was still dripping. All Joe or his staff had done was stack towels around the toilet, which were completely soaked through at this point. Ryan calls the front desk and this clerk knows nothing about the situation at all. We fill her in and get more towels. Ryan asks how we would be compensated for the trouble and she asked when we were planning to check out. He went back and forth with her a few times until the manager, who had said he was "unavailable" for the night, called us. He said we would be comped for Saturday and we would discuss Sunday on Sunday. He claimed there weren't any two bedrooms available. Sunday, Ryan and Jenny go to take care of things, and we are told we can move to a higher priced two bedroom, even though the clerk, Kristi, had said it was "more compensation than we deserved." They debate about the price, and finally Ryan said "What are we paying for tonight?" and Kristi said "Nothing." When we return to the office to get new keys and get a refund, the clerk says we only get one night comped. We point out Joe said Saturday was comped and she said Sunday was comped. She tells us we can't get two nights free. The whole time she acts as if we were causing the trouble and that not wanting to be in a room with a plumbing leak was unreasonable. She calls Joe in, all the while trying to make us feel guilty for calling him in on his day off, to come settle things. When he arrives, he maintains that it is an overflow from a tub, even though it has been dripping for over 24 hours, and that we don't deserve to be compensated for the trouble of moving all of our belongings (including luggage, toiletries, clothing and perishable food) as guests do that all the time. We decided to check out at that point and received a refund for all but Friday night. We hadn't even moved into the new unit and he started to ask how long we'd been in that room, as he was probably going to charge us a day's rate for that as well. Other family members who were staying there told us he didn't bring in a plumber until Monday. On their website, they claim "We strive to make planning your vacation as easy and effective as possible. Please never hesitate to call us with any questions or report any difficulties. Our staff will do everything possible to ensure planning your stay with Bay Shore Inn the first of many great experiences with us." This has proved to be untrue. read more

We found this place from Trip Advisor as we wanted a nice place where the kid could play. This place is perfect. I know there is not always a lot to do around the area when a kid (let alone a high school college kid since the whole county seems to close down at 9PM) and so this place really helps. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, playground, lot of grassy area to play catch, a beach with sand, boats to rent, tennis courts, etc. I found this place to offer a lot more than I anticipated. It is not too close to downtown Sturgeon Bay (maybe 4 miles) and it's about a 20 mile hike to Sister Bay to see the Goats on a roof (the 30 second "we saw it now let's go" event). We went Sunday through Wednesday and it was perfect. Great views and the rooms were really nicely updated and the kitchens really helped with planning meals for the kid and allowed me to not pay the "Door county visitor tax" for each place we went out. If you have kids, this place is perfect. They will stay busy and more $ in your pocket. Also, go see the Plum Loco farm. It's a lot of fun for the kids too. read more
