I have waited too long to write a review! This year is my third time staying at Glidden. Definitely a 5 star resort. The resort is condo owned and guests stay in an owners condo. The condos are nicely decorated and very clean. There is basic kitchen cookware and utensils. They always have Door County coffee, which is really good. I like the big jetted bathtub in the bathroom. There is also a shower. This resort is off the beaten path but that is what I love about it. Every room has a view of the lake. The beach and resort grounds are very nice. I like to enjoy the open windows and patio doors to hear the waves. There is a small indoor pool and hot tub. Both are nice. And clean. The restaurant right next door is amazing. Super cool inside with great drinks and food. Make reservations! I think the prices are inline with other resorts in DoCo. Super friendly staff. I know I'll be back next Fall! read more

Glidden Lodge Beach Resort is one of our favorite places to stay when we visit amazing Door County. This pretty lodge is located a bit 'away from it all', but we love the views that make it worth just staying put in any/all of the waterfront condos. Our recent stay was in a beautiful three bedroom condo near the northern end of the building. Mother Nature did not cooperate with us the week we were here, but the amenities at Glidden kept us cozy and relaxed. Clean pool, well maintained hot tub, fireplace, comfortable beds, amazing master bathroom with large walk-in shower, great television reception (and Netflix!), takeout food purchased nearby, cheese and crackers, and many beverages of choice. Happy Days! Our only issue, as we are not as able-bodied as we once were, was getting our luggage up and down the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. A bit of a challenge, but we took our time and sort of dragged and bumped them upstairs and downstairs. We do appreciate the luggage carts and elevators to help us get to and from the parking area and second floor rooms. Hope to see you again real soon. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend for a little getaway and I have to say that this was completely amazing! The one bedroom was absolutely lovely, looking out at the water and very cozy. Our room felt like a little apartment away from home with kitchen, huge bathroom with whirlpool tub (2 person), living room with fireplace, and a spacious bedroom. We were able to fall asleep with the windows open to the sound of the waves. Being that it was peak season for summer, I did not feel as though it was overly crowded--everything was fairly quiet and completely relaxing. The lodge is also tucked into a remote setting so it truly felt like vacation and away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. It was exactly what I needed. The only thing I could possibly say negative was that the walls could be a little thin, I think the people above us had children that sounded like they were river dancing above us, but at night time all was quiet so it really wasn't a problem. The beach was literally steps away from our room, the location was perfect. For us there was no real reason to leave the resort, we enjoyed it that much. There is also a cute little restaurant onsite but make sure you make reservations, as we were not able to get in due to a long wait. read more

A lovely place with a remote location that is a plus or a minus, depending on your point of view. The plus side is that your room will overlook the beach, and to be able to stroll from your room to the water in less than a minute is a remarkable thing. But other than the Whitefish Bay state park and Caves park, you are a 10 mile drive from almost everything, including downtown Sturgeon Bay. If I hadn't been distracted with getting a house on the market, I would have prepared better by bringing up our bikes and a some groceries and a cooler. The in-unit kitchen was well appointed and once we laid in provisions, it was great not to have to go out for every single meal. Knowing that the place had one, two and three bedroom units, we were prepared to be with families with kids, so that wasn't a problem. The indoor pool and hot tub usually were full of them, because the lake water was cold and full of dead alewives (ick). If I were to return to Door County, I would probably stay up the road a bit farther, to Egg Harbor or Fish Creek, which are full of cute shops, restaurants, and things to do. But for a simple restful retreat, we were glad to have stayed at the Glidden Lodge. read more

WOW, what a stay! Enjoyed indoor pool and hot tub, though temp was a little cooler than expected. We love the room and we're able to use the outdoor grill, as well as kitchen for two dinners. Fireplace was on each night and loved the hot tub in the room too! Played games two nights at the kitchen table and watched a DVD movie the other night with friends each time. Great room for hosting another couple. The view and sound of lake was AMAZING! Slept with 2 sliding glass doors open ALL night to hear the waves! Dinner at restaurant was awesome too! Prime Rib good but Walleye exceptional! Very reasonably priced. Will be back - first floor is best to walk out and sit in chairs close to or on beach! WOW! read more

Have stayed at Glidden Lodge for many, many years. Had a weekend booked, but due to husbands health concerns and the pandemic - had to cancel. First call stated that due to less than 2 weeks, would not refund deposit - only a gift certificate. I found that a bit excessive due to the fact that ALL restaurants, etc...are closed for business. Second call advised that deposit would be refunded, but with a $25 charge. While this may be a small amount, I feel even this to be exceptionally greedy!!! Shame on you for taking advantage!!!!! read more

We had a great stay at Glidden Lodge a few months ago for a friend's wedding! We loved the location (close to everything, yet still quiet), the room, and the view. When we walked into our room, we had to laugh because it was practically twice the size of our apartment back home! It was huge - the kitchen, living area, and bathroom. The bed was a King, which is also bigger than what we're used to! We arrived late morning, so we immediately opened all the blinds and curtains and saw how close we were to the water - so gorgeous! While we mainly had wedding activities all weekend, it was still very relaxing. We loved our stay at Glidden and will definitely be back! read more

Glidden is great my family and I have been coming here for many years, since the the late 80's. My mom's friends from college now family friends,actually invited my parents to come here. Then the year after my mom's friends never came back, but my parents along with my sisters and I came back, and have come back after Christmas since. Now one niece and nephew later we still come back every Christmas. Glidden has had its ups and downs over the years. I notice that there are things that improve every time we come back. What I notice in the winter is that in the rooms that don't have cathedral ceilings the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, are cold. The heat just doesn't seem to make it up there. That's a minor issue and something I've told the staff. The problem being the windows because it's my belief there's some kind of air leak, but I also think it's also got something to do with the duct work and the fact that the vents are in the ceiling don't seem to help. Heat rises so putting the ceiling vents in the floor would solve that problem, along with proper wall and floor insulation, replacing the windows and siding with something more insulation, switching heat and ac units with central heat and central air conditioning units, all those things would make a huge difference and be awesome improvements to the lodge. While a cool room is a minor issue it doesn't mean I wouldn't stay at Glidden or tell people not to go there. If one can look past these things then the stay can be enjoyable. While the improvements I mentioned would be great it's a matter of money/financial matter which is a matter in of itself. So those are my thoughts. My family and I will be back again! read more

Love this place. We were here for Thanksgiving weekend. It's very quiet, the pool is never crowded. The three bedroom condo was huge. There were 5 of us and it was plenty of space. The kitchen is fully stocked but not exactly a chefs dream. We are Thanksgiving dinner at a buffet. If we decide to cook thanksgiving dinner there next year I will probably bring some better knives and pots. I'm pretty picky though. The location is great for us. Its right on the beach and we walked for hours in the beach. It's close to the dunes park and about half an hour to fish creek, less than 15 minutes to sturgeon bay. We prefer to be a little away from the crowds. There is a restaurant on site that is a classic supper club with great steaks and wonderful soups. We will be back. Great family memories. read more

This is a beautiful, clean resort located right on the beach. The units are well maintained. We have been coming here for years and appreciate that the units are kept up and not left to deteriorate like other resorts where we have stayed in the past. Also, my kids love the indoor pool! The biggest downside to Glidden is that the beach gets very crowded and it is hard to get a beach chair. Guests get very territorial on the beach and mark their chairs with towels even if they are not there for most of the day. Also, people use the Glidden beach even if they are not staying at the resort which compounds the problem. In the future, we will be bringing our own beach chairs!! read more

We had a dinner party at Gladden Lodge. The bar service was the best! Our table waitress was not. No pleasant greetings, no mention of an appetizer, and no follow up on the meals. All the food was good, but the whitefish was marginal. She did offer dessert at the end. We will be glad to go back and hope for five stars, because the atmosphere sure is! read more

This was our first trip to Door County, and we chose Glidden just by some Google searches. I liked the lodgy feel from the pictures, and was not disappointed! Our one bedroom suite was wonderful - king sized bed, full bath with whirlpool tub, full kitchen, and comfortable living area. We walked out on a ground level patio that led directly to a wonderful private beach! We ate one night at Donny's next door and had a fantastic dinner. I would have liked some free weights in the Fitness Room, but that doesn't affect my rating. We did end up spending a lot of time in Fish Creek and Sister Bay which necessitated long drives from Glidden, but with better planning of where we planned to go that could be changed next time. And it was nice to be in an out of the way place, instead of one of the bustling and busy downtown areas. A wonderful place that we'd recommend highly to couples and families! read more

Loved it! We stayed in a two-bedroom (with 2 small children) and it was incredibly spacious- the two balconies offered great sunrise views. Gorgeous beach, and great pool- both a hit with the kids. We are used to staying in Sturgeon Bay, so the location was just fine for us- driving to all the fun towns (Fish Creek, Bailey's Harbor, etc) is a half hour or less. Would definitely stay there again! read more

Loved it! As mentioned, it is a bit off the beaten path and much quieter than the resorts on the bay side. We considered this a plus. Even if the weather is bad, the large windows make it possible to enjoy the lake. Everything from our initial inquiries to check out were handled warmly and professionally. Just got back from a four night stay. Had a wonderful time very clean, beautiful almost private beach, crystal clear water, every room had wonderful views of the lake, friendly staff would definitely come back again. Glidden Lodge is located on the quiet side of Door County but easy drive to anywhere you want to go. read more

We have been staying at Glidden in the winter for over 20 years. It is our post holiday tradition. We have stayed Inman units and never had a bad experience. Always clean, staff are friendly and helpful. Kitchen is clean, has about the right stuff. We don't mind the drive to the action. Relax on the quiet side. read more

We have been staying at Glidden Lodge since July '96. We love everything about the lodge. We love the solitude there. Yet you are close to everything. The beach is beautiful. There is a perfect view from every room. The staff is great. The only thing I would change is to get better pillows for the beds! read more
