    1990s bar stools

My mom, sister, my husband and I stayed here in July of 2014 for a multiple room family reunion. My mom had stayed here before several years ago. It's not been updated since except for the flat panel TVs. "Step into the 1990's the minute you enter" This was serious time warp decor. The staff at the front desk were very helpful (they did seem to be eating behind the desk most of the time I stopped to ask them something). The lobby had lots of menus of local joints to eat in. The weird area off the lobby with milk, coffee, juices confused me. If they added a Continental Breakfast all that stuff, plus muffins, cereal, etc. would make more sense. Maybe they used to? Adding it as an option would be a smart move on their part as not every room has a kitchen. And the closest restaurants: one recently burned down and the other was closed down. This means driving to a place or getting groceries the first night you are there. If it's a Sunday, get there before five: everything starts shutting down after that. The decor of our room: I am quite sure it has not changed since the place was built and you are in a total flashback: the furniture threadbare, the comforters sateeen, and the flat panel TVs took the place of old tubed TVs, but the "holes" for said TVs were not fixed. (One bedroom used to have a regular TV in an armoire. The armoire was still there, the spot for the TV empty and a new flat panel TV on the wall. In another room, the flat panel was mounted to the wall, with the "cubby" space behind it for the old TV barely covered.) All the TV channels were messed up and someone had attempted to edit the guide in the room by crossing things off. The dishwasher was SO LOUD you needed to run it while you were out! Yikes!. Could not sleep or talk over that racket. The coffee maker lid was broken. I think we were in a handicapped room as the doors were wide and you could sit in the shower. The whirlpool tub in the other room was FILTHY. The plastic plants and flowers were full of dust and the clock on the wall was a bit disturbing.... The bed was HORRIFIC. This was NOT a relaxing vacation as we did not sleep much the whole time we were there. The bed was hard as a rock and the landscapers showed up way too early. The grounds were stunning. We never used the pool or hot tub (foamy and scary). Little teeny biting bugs got through the screens and bit my mom all night. We liked the fresh air but had to shut the place up and run the AC due to this. Convenient to Maritime museum which closes are 5: We missed that tour entirely due to other places/people we needed to see. I doubt we will return. For the price we paid, not a value at all.

For a family, this place is a five. It's got lots of room and kitchens, it would be great with kids. For a long weekend with my husband, just didn't quite cut it. The rooms are a little too utilitarian. I do love the grounds and the pool. Our "bay view" was if you stood on the deck, the air didn't work the first night and the decor is just motel commercial grade. The pools were terrific however, they almost made up for everything else and I liked staying in Sturgeon Bay, it's a great town. Bring the kids here, for you and the hubby, keep looking.

Great value for the space you get - we had a suite for a very reasonable price. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is great. The suite is not exactly couples go on a weekend trip; it was more family functional. Sturgeon Bay is a great town but not really in Door County. No matter where you stay, you are driving to the other parts but the drives are a bit longer from here. However, for me, this was a positive. I liked not being in the middle of all the tourist traffic. Resort itself is probably a five but the suite was definitely a four. The bed, however, was great. It's rare to have a comfortable bed on the road and this one was the exception. Looking for romantic ambiance, I would look elsewhere.

    Beautiful sunset from our balcony

This was our first trip to Door County and loved our stay at Bridgeport Resort! Staff was friendly, we had a beautiful view from our lovely porch and our room was very clean and comfortable.

Our room had everything we needed: a kitchen with all included dishware, paper towels, coffee filters, etc., a nice updated shower with good water pressure, a fold out couch/sofabed (which we used, so it was definitely a necessity!), flat screen smart TVs with all the hookups for your apple TV etc if you choose to bring it (this is a must for us in the evenings since we like to watch our shows and chill out before bed) and a balcony with table & chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our room was a bit humid - since we had the wall unit A/C and a fan in the main bedroom it never fully cooled down to where we would have liked it, but it was tolerable (we were out and about so much during our time in Door County, so we really weren't at the resort too much except to sleep!). I maybe heard a small amount of hall noise here and there but very rare (we were on the third floor). I never heard any of our neighboring units, so that was a big plus. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. We used the washer/dryer and ice machine, as well as took advantage of the free coffee (delicious!). We also needed to print a couple of documents and were able to do that on a computer near the front desk on the second floor. We did not use the pool facilities, but both the indoor and outdoor pool looked very clean and many people were using both daily. The housekeeping is a bit unique in that can specify if you would like someone to enter your suite to clean/empty trash, replace towels, etc. or if you would just like replacement items (if this is the case you can fill out a dry erase form and place it outside your suite).

I was forced to check out after one night because the room was uninhabitable due to severe health hazards. Upon entry, the room reeked of strong, unknown chemical fumes. We attempted to ventilate, but were forced to close the windows immediately due to loud, disruptive guests and heavy marijuana smoke drifting in from across the street. The chemical smell did not dissipate; instead, the fumes triggered a severe asthma attack and heart palpitations within hours. The conditions were so dangerous that I had no choice but to check out the next morning and drive home to ensure my safety. Crucially, this was a holiday weekend. The hotel undoubtedly rebooked this room immediately after we left, suffering zero financial loss. Yet, they refused to refund the remaining two nights and kept the full $750 charge. The Snug Harbor Inn breached the basic warranty of habitability by providing a room with unknown chemical hazards that caused an immediate medical reaction. Keeping the full payment for a room I could not use, while they re-rented it to someone else, is unjust enrichment and a clear disregard for guest safety. Do not book here; the management prioritizes profit over health.

We arrived on Friday around 5 p.m., and not a single parking spot was in sight. We ended up next door in an unpaved lot that was also packed, but with a little maneuvering (and some light praying), I managed to squeeze my car into something that vaguely resembled a space. At check-in, we asked what the parking policy was for paying guests. The front desk clerk smiled and said, "You will always have a spot." I looked at her and said, "Well... I don't now." And mentioned the joy of hauling all my stuff across two parking lots. She explained it was the Friday fish fry chaos, and that Saturdays and Sundays are just as fun with fish boils twice a day. Her advice? Come back late enough and you'll be golden. She wasn't wrong, but still. A little stressful. Now for the positives! The room had a fridge and microwave, which came in handy, and a sliding door that opened to a cute little courtyard. The beds were surprisingly comfy, and everything was clean. The room did have that slightly musty "I live near a lake" vibe, but nothing too tragic. Someone made off with our patio chairs, but at that point I was too relaxed (or maybe too tired from carrying my suitcase across the gravel lot) to care. The best part? The waterfront bar and grill on the property. Great spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the view. All in all, it was a comfortable, budget-friendly stay in a fantastic location right on the water. Just maybe pack a wagon for your luggage... and bring your parking patience.

This place absolutely sucks. Worst motel I've ever stayed at in my life. Why? Let's do this…read more 1. Our room has ants--our dog's food dish was swarming with them! Also had to kill 3 earwigs, 1 centipede and 4+ spiders. Didn't realize "pet friendly" means you can bring your rare bug collection. If you come here, bring a jumbo box of live preying mantises and turn 'em loose. They will be in heaven. 2. Water pressure in the shower is virtually zero. They don't have water pipes, just a 90 year old geezer with a bagel-size prostate weakly trying to tinkle on you. If it rains during your stay, get out there and try to rinse the shampoo out of your hair. Not sure if the old man handles the showers in all rooms, or if there is a team of them. 3. The carpets are stained and disgusting. Only thing missing was a chalk outline of a dead body. Do not recwalk on them barefoot. 4. The Wi-Fi is great--if you're happy with AOL dial-up from 1998. (Good way to prevent warning reviews like this?) 5. I'm not saying the beds are awful, but I am driving straight to my chiropractor. Had more restful nights sleep camping in a rock quarry. 6. The room smells like a really bad fart. (In fairness, that might be my girlfriend's fault.) Nah, I'm not giving this dump the benefit of the doubt. You'd think with the junkyard doors (gaps big enough for bugs to march right in without ducking their heads) the stank would eventually fade. Nope. The bouquet is musty with notes of wet dog, and a hint of decomposition. That reminds me--Beach Harbor Resort (resort!) is pet-friendly! Why wouldn't it be? There's nothing a pack of hounds with dysentery could do that would make this place worse. If the Association of Incontinent Senior Dogs is looking for a venue to hold their annual conference, book now. Just make sure your shots are up to date, especially tetanus. In summary, this dump sucks so hard it pretty much ruined my life. (That's saying something, considering how bad my ex and her parents were.) Think of a haunted house, minus the charm and character. Cannot believe they charged us anything to stay here, much less $200/night. The owners of this hellhole ought to pay for therapy for my girlfriend and our kids.
