Horrible staff especially the manager Mindy. They do not control nor enforce rules especially quiet hours. Loud, during quiet hours, children not controlled by the parents nor staff enforcing complaints. Room is outdated. Can't get any reimbursement if you leave early due to you the guest complaints about loud children a floor above running durning quiet hours specifically 5:30 am. This resort is individually owned by buyers and owners are not responsible for anything a guest in their owned room complains about. Do your homework and stay elsewhere because the manager won't help instead she'll run her mouth. Waste of money and horrible experience. On top of room being outdated, bed bugs, crisp towels, old and not soft, amenities are lacking, cob webs on patio bugs, unkept. Outdated rooms, moldy shower. Dogs aren't allowed except guests sneak them in including the pool or the guest will leave their dog outside the gate of pool. Wouldn't stay here again if you paid me to! By the way we booked this stay from July 3-6 and left on the 5th. After the 3rd and fourth being awoke by children and staff not dealing with it. Gross, outdated roomed with nasty rude staff and since the apple doesn't fall from from the tree the manager is ignorant! read more

Loved the fact that there were signs to serve as a reminder to be polite and not to be too loud between certain hours. I would not recommend staying at Bridgeport Resort. I recently stayed with a team of women for the Fall 50. They do not have typical guidelines for room service/ cleaning. We barely used the room because of the race but because our costumes for the race had glitter on them they charged an extra $50 fee for cleaning. While I understand a fee may be necessary in some circumstances, I find this very unreasonable. I'm certain they typically plan to vacuum after each guest and if not then that is a different issue of cleanliness. We were very respectful guests, we did not throw a party or violate any rules, yet the manager was not understanding and for this reason we will not be staying at this resort next year like we had planned. read more

My mom, sister, my husband and I stayed here in July of 2014 for a multiple room family reunion. My mom had stayed here before several years ago. It's not been updated since except for the flat panel TVs. "Step into the 1990's the minute you enter" This was serious time warp decor. The staff at the front desk were very helpful (they did seem to be eating behind the desk most of the time I stopped to ask them something). The lobby had lots of menus of local joints to eat in. The weird area off the lobby with milk, coffee, juices confused me. If they added a Continental Breakfast all that stuff, plus muffins, cereal, etc. would make more sense. Maybe they used to? Adding it as an option would be a smart move on their part as not every room has a kitchen. And the closest restaurants: one recently burned down and the other was closed down. This means driving to a place or getting groceries the first night you are there. If it's a Sunday, get there before five: everything starts shutting down after that. The decor of our room: I am quite sure it has not changed since the place was built and you are in a total flashback: the furniture threadbare, the comforters sateeen, and the flat panel TVs took the place of old tubed TVs, but the "holes" for said TVs were not fixed. (One bedroom used to have a regular TV in an armoire. The armoire was still there, the spot for the TV empty and a new flat panel TV on the wall. In another room, the flat panel was mounted to the wall, with the "cubby" space behind it for the old TV barely covered.) All the TV channels were messed up and someone had attempted to edit the guide in the room by crossing things off. The dishwasher was SO LOUD you needed to run it while you were out! Yikes!. Could not sleep or talk over that racket. The coffee maker lid was broken. I think we were in a handicapped room as the doors were wide and you could sit in the shower. The whirlpool tub in the other room was FILTHY. The plastic plants and flowers were full of dust and the clock on the wall was a bit disturbing.... The bed was HORRIFIC. This was NOT a relaxing vacation as we did not sleep much the whole time we were there. The bed was hard as a rock and the landscapers showed up way too early. The grounds were stunning. We never used the pool or hot tub (foamy and scary). Little teeny biting bugs got through the screens and bit my mom all night. We liked the fresh air but had to shut the place up and run the AC due to this. Convenient to Maritime museum which closes are 5: We missed that tour entirely due to other places/people we needed to see. I doubt we will return. For the price we paid, not a value at all. read more

Stayed just one night and that's the best part, it seemed to be clean in most areas but, the Hotel smelled like an old damp basement and as far as the accommodations...I've had better at an Americinn. No form of breakfast, one ice maker and it was full of mold, microwave sounded like it was going to blow up, every time water was ran it could be heard in both of our rooms. Hard to sleep with water running. The TV was making a high pitch sound so couldn't even sleep in one room, not that the beds were even comfortable. For the area and the cost I expected more. When I think of going to Hotel to relax this is not what comes to mind. Lastly a military discount would have been nice. Would have asked for a refund but I'm sure that wouldn't have happened. read more

After a long school year, my family and I took a trip up to Door County to relax. It was our first time in the area as a family. We stayed here because it had condo-style rooms, which we greatly enjoy. This hotel is mostly clean, the night sleep was fairly good, and the facilities seemed nice as well. First up, the cleanliness. Here at the Bridgeport, the cleanliness was fair. There were no bed bug or stain problems inside of the room (220). However, there are balconies at this resort, which were not netted in. This caused a lot of spider webs to build up in the corners of the balcony and gnats to fly in. My rating for this category: 3/5 Next, the night sleep. Personally, my night sleep was good, but the pillows just caved in a little too much when I put my head on them. The other members of my family said they thought the mattress was bearable, but a tad bit firm. My rating for this category: 4/5 Finally is the facilities. From what I saw, they had a cute pool with a rock fountain and the usual treat center in the lobby. Both of these features looked wonderful. My rating for this category: 5/5 So, this hotel definitely met our needs for a short two night Door County getaway. The hotel was clean, the sleep was nice, and the facilities were good. If you're in the area, definitely check out this resort and I would recommend it to a friend. read more

For a family, this place is a five. It's got lots of room and kitchens, it would be great with kids. For a long weekend with my husband, just didn't quite cut it. The rooms are a little too utilitarian. I do love the grounds and the pool. Our "bay view" was if you stood on the deck, the air didn't work the first night and the decor is just motel commercial grade. The pools were terrific however, they almost made up for everything else and I liked staying in Sturgeon Bay, it's a great town. Bring the kids here, for you and the hubby, keep looking. read more

Great value for the space you get - we had a suite for a very reasonable price. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is great. The suite is not exactly couples go on a weekend trip; it was more family functional. Sturgeon Bay is a great town but not really in Door County. No matter where you stay, you are driving to the other parts but the drives are a bit longer from here. However, for me, this was a positive. I liked not being in the middle of all the tourist traffic. Resort itself is probably a five but the suite was definitely a four. The bed, however, was great. It's rare to have a comfortable bed on the road and this one was the exception. Looking for romantic ambiance, I would look elsewhere. read more

Although Bridgeport has been a staple for me in the past when I've gone to Door County for both work and play, it is no longer an option. I recently stayed at Bridgeport Resort and after a long drive up to the peninsula for work, I arrived to find that there was a minor issue at the local bank that threw a wrench into my finances for the next day, so I had to dig out my emergency credit card to pay for my stay. Since my credit card wasn't normally used out of state, apparently there was a fraud alert placed on my transaction (hey, it happens to the best of us. Sometimes all of the online "conveniences" that money handling institutions offer end up being more of a nightmare than a "convenience," but this was a very solvable problem). I was notified by Bridgeport by phone and by my card company about the fraud alert (which was made all the more suspect by repeated attempts by Bridgeport to force a payment through on my card) and I immediately-as in minutes after I found out-let Bridgeport know that I was calling the card company to straighten things out. The card company was called and I was assured they'd handle it. I relayed that information to Bridgeport. Problem solved, right? Nope... One day, months later--well after I had been assured that this issue had been taken care of on the card company's end, I received an odd, threatening email (not a call, an email, which struck me as EXTREMELY unprofessional, seeing as Bridgeport was in possession of both my home and business numbers as well as my two home addresses and this was the first I'd heard about the issue in months) accusing me of fraud (apparently fraud perpetrated in my own name against myself...? I'm still not clear on how that's possible) and threatening to call the police. The email isn't in front of me at the moment, but if I'm not mistaken, it was written in caps...Super classy...Thank GOD I thought to check my personal email account that day, because if I hadn't, I could well have had the police show up at my door to arrest me for crimes against...er...me. Keep in mind that Bridgeport has taken numerous other credit cards when I've stayed there in the past and as I told them when I first found out that my out of state transactions had been flagged, I'd have been happy to offer Bridgeport another credit card or send them a check if waiting for the credit card company to take care of this wasn't a satisfactory solution for their management team. Rather than letting me know 'yeah you'd better do that instead,' they decided to email me a threat...in caps. I'm really disappointed with the handling of this situation. When handling a matter like this, a phone call should always be made. Phone calls don't get lost or sent to the trash bin. Emails can and not everyone checks their personal email several times a day. This was something that could easily have been handled without resorting to emailed threats. The first&only notice that I was given that there was still a problem with payment was the threatening email Bridgeport sent. If I genuinely thought a client might've been trying to defraud me, I would CERTAINLY give them a call rather than sending a passive-aggressive email that might or might not reach said client. This was a matter that deserved to be handled in a much more direct and professional fashion. As a frequent guest (former), this treatment was absolutely appalling. They know quite well who I am at Bridgeport &that I would NEVER try to skip out on a bill. I interacted with them on Facebook, I write about Door County in some of my blog posts and I work up there often...I'm not someone who can't be vetted, nor am I someone who's hard to contact or pin down. The front desk staff knows me...I just can't fathom why this simple issue devolved into threat making. My business and I have lots of great connections with Door County resorts and other businesses. After this upsetting situation, I'm going to have to patronize some of them instead and leave Bridgeport off of my list. *I happened to be in the middle of a meeting at the time I received the email from Bridgeport&I sent a frantic text to my assistant&a family member authorized to use my card to PLEASE call Bridgeport right away in my stead&have them re-run my original card or run one of my other cards. To this day, I don't know what made the office manager decide that emailed threats were a better solution than simply using my number which they've had on file for years&calling me, but I am extremely hesitant to stay here again. This is not a way in which I would EVER choose to interact w/my customers. This experience has left me stressed out and turned off. This certainly isn't the review I had drafted previously&I'm saddened to leave it. read more

Stayed there from July 27-31, 2016 and was very disappointed. First the good stuff, the staff couldn't have been nicer, the location in ideal and that's were it stops. Our room showed a real need for an upgrade. The furniture was dingy and worn looking. The floor seemed to have been recently replaced. The shower stall floor was actually brown, needed some help from magic eraser. I understand fiberglass showers are not the easiest to clean, but really. They provide juice and coffee in the lobby but no form of breakfast. It is expensive at best and a little continental breakfast would certainly be in order. The doors do not close automatically, so you need to be sure to pull the door shut to be sure it locks. I was just profoundly disappointed! read more

A nice place at a very affordable price. The price I got for a room for two days came in less than anything I could find on Hotwire/Priceline/etc, which seems to only list major chain hotels. I ended up calling the resort directly and they did try to get me in a room that was slightly more expensive than the type of room I was looking at on their website. I had to explicitly indicate this to them in order to get the lower rate. A bit of a slippery sales tactic there, so make sure you ask if there are other rooms cheaper than what they first quote to you. And on the Sunday night we were there, the place was virtually empty, so keep that in mind when negotiating the room rate. This resort definitely feels more geared towards families with kids rather than couples, but it was still very comfortable and nice to have the mini-fridge. And the whirlpool bathtub was awesome! If you're not familiar with Door County, Sturgeon Bay is maybe not the greatest place to make your "home base" but it's still within fairly decent driving distance of all the other attractions and towns. I was happy with it since it afforded us a nice, clean hotel room at an economical price. read more

We picked this place last minute for a two night stay New Year's 2012. We have a 5 and 2 year old and booked a 2 BR suite. They put us in room 302 with a awesome wrap around view. After one night of our stay: Pros - Pool area was very warm for the kids and the water temp was perfect - Nice size hot tub - Toddler play area in the pool was excellent. We could sit and relax and watch one kid in the pool and the other in the play area. - Lay out of the room was perfect - Staff was very friendly and informal at check-in. If you are looking for a stuffy robotic greeting you get in the city, stay home. The staff here is more what you would expect in Door County. Cons - The appliances and decor is in good condition but dated. - Less than comfy bedding - One of three TVs are flat screen All in all this place is perfect for what we wanted for the new year. It will need some updating at some point to keep up with the competition but I wouldn't let that stop you from coming here. read more

We were back here after a 5-year hiatus. Rooms looked a little dated and we were placed at the far end of a long, long hallway. Staff is friendly. Sadly, we did not use any of the amenities this time around...just a 2-day stay but definitely a better value than those in the smaller towns. They still offer a juice dispenser and free milk for the kiddos in the lobby. Pool (indoors) was empty in fall. Looked like this is THE stop for senior bus tours. It would have been nice if they offered a continental breakfast but no. Views of the bay were magnificent. Would stay again. Very close to downtown Sturgeon Bay. You can't go wrong here. read more

This hotel is neither luxury nor a true resort. However, the hotel apparently appeals to some folks based on the evaluations they have given the hotel. This is a rather old piece of property in a very prime location along the water. There is a newer property just across the channel and these two dominate the downtown area for motels. I found I could not make reservations on the Internet and had to call the hotel direct. I was advised there was two night minimum stay and based upon the reviews I did not think this was an issue. You do have to make a substantial deposit (part of which is nonrefundable) to cover your reservations. I noted that charges were quickly applied to my credit card account. The check in was very non-professional, as the person never got out of her chair to check me in. I was given two room keys and a list of rules as she pointed in the direction of the room. There are no porters at this "resort". We noticed a large area adjacent to the small lobby where a juice dispensing machine, coffee dispenser and a small refrigerator was located. I was advised there was no breakfast with the room however that adjacent area was open 24 hours a day. There were several tables and chairs in that area. Also adjacent to the lobby desk was what appeared to be a small gift shop and some soft drinks and candy. I did not go in as the place looked rather dingy. The suite was on the first floor toward the back side and facing the parking lot. The room contained rather old outdated furniture. There was a kitchen, two rather new TVs and a gas fireplace. The carpet was not dirty however cleaning has to be a priority in the near future. The mattress was soft, however some folks like that. The bed sheets were dingy and of extremely low thread count and they had been put on the bed upside down. That's difficult to understand, as making up a bed I thought was taught at home to teenagers. We were on the first floor and starting about 9PM and lasting until midnight children apparently chose to jump off the bed and run, only to go back to the jumping off place and running again. We finally went to sleep even with the constant banging noise. The next evening we returned after a day of sightseeing and heard the same noise only this time around 7PM. I went to the desk and informed the person this had to stop and advised her about the pervious evening. She then heard the same noise as children were running through the hallways on the second floor. After this incident and a promise to call 911, the noise subsided however never completely quit. We decided we had enough of this "resort" and decided to leave very early on Sunday morning. We loaded the car and went to the door to get into the lobby only to find the lobby locked and no one at the front desk. I still had my room key thus I was able to get back into the hotel. There was a note that stated that if there was an emergency to call a particular number. We were joined by another couple who like us were trying to get an early start. They were paying cash and advised us they had no choice except to wait until 7AM for a person to show up. I left a note and trusted a statement would be mailed back to me. After arriving at home three days later there was no statement. I then called the hotel and they sent me a copy by the internet. We checked at the front desk to see if there were fish fries that Friday evening since we had read about such in the area. We were given a location and then we ask about the one we had read about and were told they only had the fish fry on Saturday. We went to the location recommend and then by chance came back by the restaurant that we had originally inquired about and guess what---they were having the regular Friday evening fish fry. It was my perception the front desk could care less about their recommendations and just wanted to be left alone. This is an older property that is not being aggressively maintained. On top of that the prices are very high and in fact way to high for the type of accommodations and service one received. We paid $419.58 for two nights and that was with no amenities. such as breakfast. One person has praised the amenities in the room and what we found was a bottle or lotion and shampoo, one being from India and the other from China. I am certainly wrong in thinking these are low priced amenities. They are actually "international" in nature. The hotel does have a nice swimming pool area that will most likely fascinate the children as one section is for children and there are both indoor and outdoor pools. Outside of the pools mentioned there is little else to do at the hotel, unless you want to sit awhile on the grounds and watch the water in the channel go by. Old hotels are certainly difficult to maintain and costly to operate. I just don't like to be the "high roller" that contributes to that scenario while staying in accommodations that are certainly not luxurious or of resort quality. read more

We paid $477.30 for a two-night stay during Packer Weekend. The views are nice and the room was presentable, although it wasn't dusted--we could see layers of dust on the lamps, the mantle, and in the bathroom. The first day we left for 12 hours and came back to an utter mess: - our garbage wasn't picked up. Coke cans from our night of arrival were still on the table. Everyday garbage (slightly used napkins, wrappers, etc) hadn't been thrown away. - it wasn't vacuumed. Crumbs were all over the floor. - our wet, used towels were not replaced, but refolded and put back on the rack. - the coffee pot had not been turned off (we were running late and accidentally left it on). - two of the four coffee cups from the kitchenette were taken and not replaced. Overall, very poor service. 12 hours is more than enough time to efficiently clean a room. We will not be returning, and suggest you look elsewhere. read more

This is probably my favorite place to stay in town. The grounds are beautiful and it's located right next to a beautiful park. The kitchens are cleaner and better stocked then other hotels in town offering dishes and silverware. The staff at the front desk is friendly and helpful. The rooms maybe a little dated but that's typical of door county. Generally they are reasonably priced, two pools, a hot tub and sauna. It maybe a short quarter mile walk from down but there are a few great restaurants on this side. read more

This was a great place to stay! Was on a tour bus and we stayed here and it was great. Rooms were nice sized and great for 2 because we had our own bedroom and bathrooms! The outside area is beautiful and the view of the bay is amazing! Great access to restaurants and downtown area . Walking trail and benches by the water nice and cozy. We were so impressed with this hotel. Our room was spectacular! We got the Challenger Suite. It was a full 1 bedroom apartment. Very reasonable rate for how great this suite is. Fireplace in the living room, the bedroom and the bathroom too! Beautiful updated kitchen, beautiful furnishings and a huge patio. The continental breakfast was fantastic. Where other hotels use mini muffins and pastries, Bridgeport offered full size bear claws, doughnuts and muffins with 24 hour coffee, tea, orange juice and apple juice. The pool area is very large. There is a small waterpark section for the little kids, a large pool and hot tub with lots of seating everywhere. Every one at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location is within walking distance to get pizza (Sonny's) or hamburgers (Greystone Castle) and a to more small stores. There is a large park just around the corner and beautiful views of the water. We put a do not disturb sign on the door and to our amazement when we returned, there was a bag of fresh towels delivered to us without asking. I highly recommend this hotel read more

Stayed with 3 kids (8, 4 and 2) plus 5 adults for a week long trip. We stayed last year too in the same room. Rooms are spacious, each had its own patio. Kitchenette w/ dishwasher was a bonus. The indoor pool is warm, hot tub is huge and kiddie area has slide, fountains, hoses, etc. Outdoor pool is great. It has a waterfall and all are very clean! They also have a kid's playroom with ball crawl, video games and air hockey. It's small but fun. Added bonus: free coffee, cappucino, juice and milk 24hrs in the lobby. read more

Was told no rooms available but there was a vacancy sign outside still hanging there after we ate dinner hours later. Beautiful hotel on the waterfront. We chose this because of the pictures on the website and the real life version is just as nice. Pool area is great; free juice/milk/coffee in the lobby. Very clean rooms with brand new carpeting, a big plus for me. Wish we would have paid extra for a waterfront view, it is beautiful! Would highly recommend this for a little getaway! read more
