We were charged $250 for a spray for my dog, which is not worked at all in the past four years. Twice a year, my dog has bad allergies so we come in for a pill also, his nails clipped and his anal gland squeezed. None of these performances were done. We were charged an excessive amount of money and they still haven't even told me what it's over asked for an itemized receipt twice now, and the people have hung up on me because I use the term that my dog is still licking his butt like a motherfucker. So sorry they're virgin ears have never heard anyone swear before, didn't swear at them, but I should've because this is absolutely atrocious to charge someone that amount of money and not do one of the things they asked for in their normal two times a year visit. We spent $250 for a spray that doesn't even freaking work that I just looked up cost 10-15 $ depending on the store & now since it's been multiple days my poor dog is in distress & they're telling I now have to wait till Monday cause that's when the other vet comes in. For context, I have been with this practice for 15 years and last Friday, they acted like they had…read moreno idea who I was, which was really odd as I am there monthly to get my other cat a over $100 arthritis shot. Not only was my older cat misdiagnosed (after bloodwork and xrays and idk what, I got a nearly $900 bill) and I was told that my cat seemed to have a mass and that if it was a mass it was probably cancer. I was advised to have an ultrasound and had to wait a week to find out if the cat would die. At the appointed time I presented, and there was a weird vibe in there as there was some sort of emergency. They should have just cancelled appts. I was told I would have to wait aobut 30 minutes. No big deal. I understood there was an animal back there who needed their help. So I wait in the cat section which is kind of a joke as the cat and dog area are separated by a half wall. There were two dogs that were completely out of control, barking and growling with owners not making the least effort to calm them or take them outside so my cat didn't have to be even more stressed. I couldn't put my little guy, who I thought was dying, through 30 minutes of that he was cowering and shaking and was already stressed. So I waited outside where they had benches for that purpose and it was a gorgeous day. The first dog was taken into a room so I went back inside. Next dog comes in and he is even worse and owner could not have been less engaged and on her phone. No attempt to comfort or help her stressed animal. Now if your kid was having a tantrum, you'd take them away from people and help the calm down. So as I exited, I said to her in a low, calm voice "you really should be the one going outside. Not me." I reach the 2nd door of the vestibule and this woman runs out and starts SCREAMING at me. She was on my heels. I turned around and she was inches from my face pointing her findger in my face. Told her to get that finger out of my face and back off. She then bent over to put her face near the carrier and scream "I hope you die." That pushed me over the edge and I did call her a pejorative term. She began screeming "hit me! hit me!" Despite wanting to, I did not because I am an adult. Then two receptionists came out and yelled at me! Saying I should have just kept walking out. So I walked out and waited on the bench. She spoke with the woman inside for a few minutes and then she left with her dog. I was taken to a room with my cat. I was shaking and discussed what had happened with that woman with the tech who was very kind. She said the ultrasound would take 90 minutes and they were dealing with an emergency, so he probably would not be done until 3. I hated leaving him there but went to run some errands (only noon and I live 25 minutes away.) Not 5 minutes later I was called and told that I had not signed the consent form. I replied I had not been asked to and gave verbal consent over the phone. I will acknowledge that I was edgy when she told me I was consenting to hospitalization which has a fee. I replied that he was waiting as they were behind and that it felt like I was being robbed blind having spent $900 there the week before. An hour later I received a call from the reception supervisor that I was being released from the practice due to the altercation with another customer. I was astounded. I attempted to explain that I was accosted. I was told it was not my place to say anything. Then she said i was also rude to the person who called me and I never gave consent. I asked if I could speak to one of the doctors who owned the clinica and she said no. Then she told me they would not treat my cat as a result and that I should come get him. I was flabbergasted. I returned to get my cat and spoke to the supervisor who I had never seen before and would not let me speak to anyone else. I was not yelling. I was actually crying and begging her to let my cat have the ultrasound and not take it out on a animal. Nope. I was handed a list of 4 practice that did the ultrasound and was sent with my cat on my way. They have signs all over the place saying if you use abusive language, inappropriately touch staff or make sexual comments you would be removed from the practice. I didn't do any of those things. I saw one of the doctors in the lot and tried to talk to him. JHe had taken care of my cat for year. He would not even look at me and said he would have to find out what was going on later when he was out of surgery, I found Capital District Veternarian Referal Hosptial in Latham. They were great. The vet said there was no mass and she believed that it was a layer of fat pressing on a large ligament. She also diagnosed him with stage 2 kidney disease, which the inexperienced vet said was early kidney disease. Somehow he just developed it over night as he was there and got blood work twice in the the previous month. So he was misdiagnosed and I and my family spent a week mouring that our cat was dying.

I have worked in healthcare, my whole life and never would I let lunch interfere with patient care. I wouldn't expect anything different even if the patient is an animal. This was a completely insensitive response.

What was an incredibly stressful time was made easier by the gentle guiding and kindness of Dr. Diaz. He was wonderful and it made the heartbreaking loss of our little buddy easier to take. After having experienced previous losses with a traditional visit to a vet, this was so much more easy for a cat and us, allowing our cat to avoid the stress of travel to the vet, and allowing us to grieve in the privacy of our own home during the process. Dr. Gwen was very accommodating, very patient, very considerate and extremely compassionate. Our whole family was there to see Kobi off on his final journey, and as sad as it inevitably was, it was also a good thing to see that he was no longer in pain, or confused about where he was. Kobi was blind and deaf, suffered with some level of dementia, and his rear legs would often not work right because of a spinal issue. He was always kind-of high strung, and anxious about going out - especially since he lost his vision last year. Having this done at home was absolutely the right thing for our Kobi, and we very strongly recommend the service that In the Comfort of Home provides. Thank you Dr. Gwen.

I've never had an issue with the waiting time or the expertise. Keep in mind I've never had a serious illness with my pets. Absolutely horrific place and here's why I finally moved my animals out----…read more 1) 2 misdiagnosis on my dog's skin condition (and by two of the vets there) 2) very laid back attentiveness to my dog's collapsing trachea condition until finally she choked one night and they felt it necessary to finally start treating 3) 1 incorrectly written prescription ( and by which I mean wrong directions, missing strength, and product that doesn't exist int he form that the doc wrote for) 4)Not aggressive enough care on my cat as far as diabetic related conditions and overly aggressive insulin treatment which led to my cat having a diabetic stroke which led to her having to be put down 5) got a new rescue puppy and the two vets that saw him couldn't give me a straight answer as to how many more de-worming treatments he needed 6) SEVERAL and I mean SEVERAL incorrectly dispensed heart worm and flea medications that had to be brought back to have exchanged for correct product/animal/size of animal/age of animal (and here's the excuse I always get----'it was on the wrong section' always says the blond tech at the desk.....here's a solution----read the product information instead of assuming it's in the right place!) I've even got a current bottle of medication labeled up for the wrong puppy. Luckily I know who gets what. 7)they still can't figure out that the cat has been deceased even though we told them several times (always blaming it on the computer) 8) and did I mention you have to wait 20 minutes at the desk like a moron before your bill is ready................................. Here are the positives about this place..Dr. Linendoll who I believe is the owner of the practice really is a fabulous vet and the times we saw her she was spot on with everything, but in the last few years she's owned the practice, I can count on one hand how many times I've actually gotten to see her. So needless to say either she's not available or not there enough to see her only which would keep me there. Also, Marlene at the desk is quite good and very nice and typically gets everything right, but it's just not enough to keep me there with the rest of the subpar healthcare my pets receive and when their lives depend on these people, I had to make the right decision and move them out of there.

Besides having a stellar bedside manner and being a skilled acupucturist, Dr. G. is an astute clinician who diagnosed my dog with an abdominal mass when he collapsed during a walk. I thought he had heat stroke, but she examined him carefully, and on the basis of his age and weak hind-end pulses, she felt he might have an abdominal mass, which he did. Turned out to be a pheochromocytoma, which is usually fatal, but thanks to Dr. G's outstanding diagnostic skills, he saw a surgeon and made a full recovery after surgery. ( I think that Dr. G. has since moved to her own practice--Alternative Veterinary Therapies in Voorheesville.)
