AVOID AVOID AVOID This place at all costs. Unprofessional staff, unknowledgeable , ZERO compassion , dirty , overpriced!!!! Took my 14 year old indoor cat who was in declining health there for an emergency exam. This cat was suffering already and not used to people. They were abrasive and don't take the time to clearly explain things. They then took my old, scared , weak cat into a back room for blood work and gave her a shot. She could IMMEDIATELY no longer walk . The rude assistant complained 4 TIMES that my elderly cat Who is in a stressful environment already happened to get some urine on her shirt and how she would now have to go to her car and change as she huffed and walked away . YOU WORK AT VET!! I returned shortly after realizing how bad the leg was and that it was not getting better and upon questioning the doctor, another person who was apparently eavesdropping just walked into the appointment, with the rude assistant. So I am now sitting in a corner with 3 people standing over me . The most unprofessional scenario I've experienced at any business. These people have NO class, concern , or EMPATHY for animals or people . I Immediately took my cat somewhere else to be greeted and treated like normal people again. The cat unfortunately never walked again so could no longer eat or get to the litter box and passed away . I want to start by saying my first experience here was great. When I brought my cat in, the staff took their time, listened, and really walked me through everything. That's the reason I came back when I got my puppy and continued using them for vaccines and other concerns. Unfortunately, my experience since then has been very frustrating. Back in December 2025, I brought my puppy in because we were preparing for his first flight. I explained that he's very high energy and gets anxious. I was first told to try Benadryl, which did nothing. I called back and explained that it wasn't working and that I was concerned about him being on an 8 hour flight. They prescribed gabapentin and told me to try it ahead of time. I did, and it still didn't help at all. My dog was still extremely anxious, barking, and unable to settle. When I called back asking for other options, I was basically told there was nothing else they could do and that dogs sometimes surprise you on flights. That was not helpful advice. My wife and I ended up being kicked off our flight because our dog would not stop barking and crying. That situation was stressful and honestly could have been handled better with more guidance. More recently, my dog has been sick and we have spent over 2000 dollars on visits, bloodwork, medication, and ultrasounds. What has been the most frustrating part is the lack of communication. I have had to reach out multiple times just to get test results. This has happened more than once. When your dog is sick, you should not have to chase down answers. At this point, I feel undervalued as a client. I do not mind paying for care, but I expect communication, support, and follow through in return. That has not been my experience lately. read more

brought my cat to this clinic twice when he was clearly unwell. On both visits, I was told it was not serious and was sent home with antibiotics. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he passed away over the weekend at a ER vet the immediately seen the blockage boght missed on the ultrasound they took on Thursday. I understand that medicine is not always straightforward, but I am deeply disappointed that more thorough diagnostics or urgency were not considered given his symptoms. Pet owners rely heavily on professional judgment during vulnerable moments, and my experience here left me feeling unheard and misled. I hope the clinic reflects on this, as earlier intervention might have changed the outcome. read more

My dog had a lump on her tail and we went to see Dr Wagoner. During our visit he said he was almost positive that my dog had a mast cell tumor and he needed to amputate a large portion of her tail I asked if we should biopsy and he advised against it. I made the mistake of trusting his advice even though it felt wrong. After surgery pathology came back as likely a histeocytoma which is a benign growth. I would not trust them to make the right call for your pets! read more

We brought our Great Dane to Oakwood last Friday and saw Dr. Ford. She and her staff were wonderful. They came to the car to help with our 140 lb baby girl who wouldn't get out of the car due to hip and back pain. Seeing the situation, Dr Ford climbed in the backseat and did the exam. We have been bringing our pets here for 16+ years. Just because we've been going to about that long doesn't mean I expect or demand special treatment. I'm no better no different than the person that's only been going there for one month. So how long you've been going there and your complaints is absolutely irrelevant. The staff is amazing and kind. The doctors care so much about our pets - it's nice to see. These comments of entitlement, get me in now because I said so, blah blah blah, just shows how rude, ignorant and unruly some people are. Cut them some slack. They even tell us on their machine how overwhelmed they have been since the pandemic. I can just imagine how nasty the staff gets spoken to. My mini Beagle, Maggie Moo, and I have been very happy with the care that she has received from the doctors and staff at Boght Veterinary Clinic. They are both knowledgeable and attentive. Their rates are also reasonable. Thanks to Boght, Maggie has remained current with her shots. She appears to be in good health. As a rescue, she is easily frightened, but she is never looks frightened when she visits the clinic. read more

Boght was recommended to me based on experiences with Dr. Wagoner from years ago. Practice has changed tremendously now that Dr. Wagoner Jr. is there. The front desk is incredibly rude. I waited for 5+ minutes 2 ft away from receptionist click clacking away on the computer without even making eye contact. Dr. B Wagoner cannot even speculate in her professional opinion what is wrong with your pet without running up hundreds of dollars in tests first without disclosing the cost. And when you question them, they threaten to send you to collections. No thanks. read more

I've always been happy with the care our pets received from Boght. That changed today when I tried to get our new puppy in to see one of the doctors. I was told that they are booking into September! No way to get an appointment for an exam before this date. The gentleman I spoke with was very unhelpful and when I asked if I could speak with someone about my concerns, he simply said no one is here for me to speak with. He also said he gets the same 'spiel' 10 to 15 times a day. I said that he seemed to be pretty checked out of our conversation and he replied 'yeah'. I was actually told to do a Google review but that they probably weren't read. I'm hoping that when I call back (as I plan to do next week), I will get someone else that might have some interest in the continued good care of animals. read more

New to area and took my dog for her annual checkup. They were thorough and did a good exam. We willlbe going back as needed.

Made appointment the day before and left work early only to be told when I arrived that I don't have an appointment. I would have to pay an extra fee for an emergency appointment. Was told I can just go somewhere else if I didn't want to pay the extra charge for an emergency appointment. I have been bringing my dog there for about a year and even though the place is kinda dirty at least they seemed to be professional and polite . I'm not sure when it changed but I would definitely recommend checking around for a different vet. read more

Thank you Dr. Ford for being such a terrific vet! Today, the wonderful staff at Boght squeezed us in for an emergency visit for one of our cats, who was injured. We were taken within an hour of our call and Dr. Ford and her highly competent vet tech immediately tended to our cat. If less than one star were an option, Boght would have earned it with me! I trusted them with one of my family members in his darkest and final hours. I inquired about having an impression made of his nose cast in plaster/clay or whatever medium they could work with. I was told they were unsure if this was something they could accomodate or not. However, she never came back to indicate it was in fact not a viable option. She told me I would get a paw print and a lock of his hair, customary procedure. She told me about a week, we will give you a call and you can pick up his cremains. THREE WEEKS later, I finally said to myself, I've got to call to see what going on. I asked the person who answered the phone "Is it normal for pet cremations to take 3 weeks, I was told 1 week." Her response, "Let me place you on hold while I look into this"...a few minutes later "Oh we FOUND him (like they LOST HIM? WTF), you can pick him up until 7 PM. I sent my husband because I was distraught. He called me and he said you are going to be beyond pissed...not only did they not call you timely, because they lost him, they also did not give you a lock of his hair, a nose impression or a paw impression...all that is in this bag with his name spelled incorrectly, is an urn full of ashes. I proceed to call the office, where they callously tell me "there is nothing we can do" Not we made a mistake. Not we are sincerely sorry. Not we will try to improve upon our practices in the future so that no other beloved pet owner has to suffer the pain and anguish you suffered. Total dismissal of accountability! AND Ben...Manager at Oakwood (who apparently oversees the cremations). Hmmmph, he is a real callous piece of work! If you lost a member of your family...would you be a little on the louder side when speaking? Would you toss out a curse word or two? Well if not...well, you handle your emotions better than I do... I wasn't "yelling at him" I was being louder BEN because I am an emotional disaster...I am using profanity BEN because my heart is crushed in in pieces. Cursing equals passion! To hang up on a client when your organization made HUGE errors is not only irresponsible customer service, it's heartless and it's callous. If you can't take the heat of a disgruntled client, hear them out completely and let a majority of it roll off, like water on a ducks back, then you are best to seek a profession outside of the customer service industry and FAR AWAY from medical and veterinary care. How about letting the customer speak entirely without interruption? I barged up to Boght Vet after I spoke to you and was RUDELY hung up on TWICE and I was able to have a civil, however at times elevated toned, riddled with profanity conversation (due to my emotions and passion) with Alex, and yet I was able to speak my mind freely, free from rude, condescending tones and walk out with an apology that didn't heal the situation, but it is at minimum what a customer wants to hear when you've destroyed some of their hopes and dreams. Maybe you should take a lesson or 2 from her! read more

I would give zero stars if I could... this place is filthy. I had to take my 21 month old with me and was horrified of him even sitting on a seat in the waiting room due to the dirty atmosphere. The exam room stinks and has urine stained all over the walls..... my dog has to be spayed and I'm horrified of the sleeping conditions she would be in due to having to stay the night. moved to harmony vet ... more money but CLEAN. how is no one visiting this place gagging when you enter???? Would give -5 stars. Where do I even start... upon walking in you will most likely be hit in the face with the smell of dog urine. The place is so dirty and unsterile for a medical facility. There are clumps of hair covering the floor and exam rooms. Always. Not to mention every time I've needed to call or make an appointment the phones are always busy. They don't even take voicemails the call just disconnects. I have had concern for my cat because she had been coughing very often and it always seemed to worsen at night. I had taken my cat to their Latham office on route 9 four times within the past two years, each time it seemed that they overbooked their schedule tremendously. Each time they would take my cat out of the room for basic exams... This is the only vet that I've seen do this and it sort of caught me off guard.Each time they sent me home telling me it was hairballs. They did not help and her condition worsened. Two weeks ago I took my cat to an emergency clinic where she was immediately diagnosed with severe asthma and aspiration pneumonia. Three days in the ICU and $5,000 later she was finally stable enough to come home. I made a post-hospitalization appointment with Boght per The Emergency clinics suggestion. I called to make this last appointment at Boght and finally got the call through. They asked me if I would be willing to be put on hold and I agreed. Anything was better than repeatedly dialing a busy number. 10 minutes later they picked up the phone and asked "Is this Shadows owner?" My cats' name is not Shadow and I had already told them whose cat was mine. At the appointment Immediately when the doctor came in, didn't even greet me or confirm my cats identity. She began drawing up a vaccine and I explained she was here for an exam from being hospitalized and not for vaccinations. The doctor was immediately defensive and said "well that's what you were scheduled for in the system" Yet another miscommunication. I then asked about the X-ray that was done at the last appointment because I was told it was clear but 4 months later my cat was almost dead. She pulled up the chart with an attitude like I was inconveniencing her. Here's where things go downhill. She pulled up my cat's (I dont want to mention her name) records and told me that the X-ray showed moderate inflammation as well as bronchial obstruction and that further testing was recommended and that she should be investigated further for asthma. I was beyond shocked. This was news to me. The doctor then told me that it was documented that further testing was refused. Which I know was inaccurate because I would never refuse testing especially if I was willing to spend thousands at an emergency clinic to find out what was wrong. I asked if there was a mistake because I remember vividly waiting at that appointment for hours to be called into the exam room to be told her X-rays were "clear" and to continue hairball treatment. The doctor went as far as to say she has "fantastical documentation skills" basically suggesting that she had notified me of their findings and that there was in no way shape or form a possibility that it was a mistake on their end. So, that I was notified of my cat's condition and refused help. This 100% never happened. The owner was contacted and he said that he has to go based on the documentation and that it said her X-rays were in fact not "clear" and the owner refused help. Considering all of the communication issues at Boght I find it very hard to believe it was not a possibility that it was their mistake. These findings were also not included in the appointment summary that I was sent home with. I am completely disappointed with their business as a whole. Owner included. I will not be returning for any reason. read more

We have been bringing our cats here my whole life. They have always been accommodating with appointments and are open late enough that I don't have to take time off from work. There is very little wait time once you are there and the Dr. genuinely cares about the animals. She even kissed my cat on the head! The prices seem high to me but are probably just average with any other Vet in the area. I wouldn't really know. They also have a duck pond out front which is nice. read more

We have been with this Veterinary business for over 40years. Started with Dr. Lamb, then with Dr. Oles, and now with Dr. Wagner. However, it appears that their empathy and compassion for our pets is now overridden by the mighty Dollar. My dog has a cist, (2nd one in a month) Dr. Wagner seen him for first one. So this one pops out on Thursday evening, I call Friday morning to see if i can get an appointment, their response, is it emergency? No but dog is very uncomfortable, ok we can see him a week from next Thursday. (me) what about Dr. Ford, No, booking out 3weeks. But if you call next week they can get youin on an emergency with a fee. My problem with that is, that tells me they only schedule well visits, and for any call ins they charge the $50/75.00 Fee) So, they have appointments but save them for the fee. When i get sick and call my Dr. he doesn't charge me extra because i got sick, he sees me and takes care of me. I think it is time to find another Vet that is about the animal first. Very tired of busy telephones and being told I have to pay $ 82.50 for an emergency appointment when our dogs are simply sick. No one really cares about the animal, just the $ 82.50. Have had our dog in 3 times for an infection in the foot- this is the first time they gave us an appointment for a recheck. Huge pothole in the parking lot that there is NO excuse for not fixing. IT IS JUST SLOPPY business with no respect for the customers who scrape their cars on it. Third round of antibiotics with the same drug. We have been customers here for 18 years and bring 3 dogs here currently..in total, we have brought 5 over18 years and the way Dr. Wagneris running both locations I believe he could not care less. I've been taking my precious furbabies to Boght Vet for decades, thinking I was doing the best for their health. My 7 year old Saint has had skin, ear and paw issues for years... she'd lick her paws, scratch her ears and cut her gums, poor thing...or at least that's what I thought she was scratching. I'd mention this each time we visited and we visited frequently in the last year. Finally I got a referral to a dermatologist...the first thing they told me... my dog has cracked teeth and was most likely scratching her gums because she was in pain. Boght never saw this? What kind of exam were they doing... ok...so I go back to Boght and we have 3 extractions... 2 lower molars and 1 upper canine. A week after her surgery, I end up in the hospital for emergency surgery...she never gets to her post op appt. And she's bleeding from the fistula that was created removing the canine tooth. After a little over a week I'm released, I call for a post op check telling them, she's been bleeding for over a week...they see her that same day...and prescribe antibiotics...saying we'll have to wait and see if she heals, if she doesn't we cant do anything but refer you...2 days later still bleeding... I call to see if they can give me a referral so I can get her looked at by a dental vet. They say bring her in, I do, well the Dr who performed the surgery isn't here. She's not actively bleeding at this time. We'll do some blood work. I lost it, sitting in my car and started yelling at the Dr and tech... They finally gave me some clotting medication and a referral to Upstate Veterinary Specialties. Well..come to find out, they don't do dental either. I've since found a Veterinary practice in the area that does do dental...and oh my goodness, what an experience my first visit was. Quite different from the treatment we've been receiving at Boght, even putting a calming bandana on her because she seemed a bit nervous.  Totally professional, actually discussing her problems and doing the exam and treatment right there in front of me, not taking her into the back. I will be taking both my Saints to the new practice, I'm so thankful I found them. I would like to apologize to the Dr and techs I yelled at during my final visit to Boght, that just isn't the way I do things. But I was at my wits end. So. My apologies. I will never take any of my precious pets to Boght again. read more

I left Boght Vet today. Dr. Wagner and his staff have no compassion for pets or pet owners. I noticed this change over the past two years. It's their way or get out. I'm out. Dr. Wagner forgot what built his practice, which was through genuine care and compassion for animals. The owners felt they were bringing their loved pets to a nice practice. I was a Boght/Oakwood visitor with my pets for over 15 years. Dr. Wagner was so much more than he is today, if you don't believe me, read the current reviews that are telling the truth about his practice and staff. The entire staff, less a few, are new and they don't have genuine care for animals, they don't smile, and the new vets tell the pet owner what they will do, not what is best for their loving pets. Shame on Dr. Wagner for allowing his name and practice to plummet so low that people speak poorly about a practice that was once one of the best. I may be just one person who left his practice, but I know of many others who have left as well because of the lack of care they receive from Boght. This website has old reviews from years passed, but the newer reviews are ugly. Maybe someone should review the reviews and implement changes to align the business with their primary mission statement as it once was. I'd choose my animals over people any day. Animals are the best and deserve much better than Boght can offer. If you love your pet(s), take them to a reputable Vet and walk into their clinic before you decide and look at the staff. We have used Boght Vet for over thirty years. Now on dog five and six with six being the son of number five. She just delivered her second litter of eight healthy puppies and Boght Vet will be giving them their first shots and wellness check up. It's a great place for your puppy pal. read more

Used this Vet for years. We have noticed a sharp decline in the level of care and compassion and have now moved on to a new vet. We recently needed pain meds for our 14 year old dog. Took the dog to the facility so they could issue meds, they would not take 5 minutes to look at him and instead suggested an appointment over a month out. I explained that he had 1 or 2 days meds and this would not work. They could have cared less. I took him to the Upstate Vet Emergency facility where they examined him, did blood work, and issued 10 pills to hold him over. When we contacted Bought they would not accept the blood work from Upstate and again suggested a month out appointment. We would again run out of meds if we accepted this appointment so we found a new vet,Ann Fay, 518-300-0555 who could not have been more helpful. STAY AWAY, arrogant, no compassion, no empathy, poor customer service/realations. Too big and self important. They will fall like a stone with this attitude. Sad to see a business change so dramatically in such a short period of time. Seems like young kids running the place screening contacts for the docs. Dr. Wagoner and his staff are really wonderful. When my 12 yr old rottweiler chow died, he was so sensitive to our feelings and even carried the 110 lb girl himself into the office. I could tell he carried so much. We have since brought our two new dogs to him. He explains everything simply and thoroughly and never tries to recommend expensive treatments or products. He doesn't look like a normal vet with lab coat and all clinical - he reminds me of James Harriott- heart and intellect. read more

Have been bringing my 2 Goldens to Boght and Oakwood since they were puppies. Their prices are reasonable, and for routine vaccines worked out fine. However it is hard to get thru at boght as the phone is constantly busy. Front desk staff are extremely inefficient, and cannot make any decisions on routine requests for refills or sick pet appointments without speaking to the dr first. They refuse to take your # and call you back, forcing you to try and get thru later which is frustrating. When my female stopped urinating I first had to make numerous phone call attempts to get permission to have a last minute appointment and although they accommodated and got her in, I was given an antibiotic and told to watch her by the receptionist, unable to enter facility due to Covid. I was told the Dr would call me back, however the only call I rcvd was for $. After 5 attempts to call back and speak with the Dr the manager got on the phone to yell at me stains the Dr had already spoken to us and accused me of Harassing their staff and told to take my business elsewhere. I did not realize that speaking to the Dr was an unreasonable expectation. read more

We've been taking our dog trapper to Boght for many years and they've always been wonderful and accommodating. Recently we had to put him down at the age of 15. It was heart breaking but Boght was compassionate and allowed us as much time as we needed with our dog. Days after they sent us a sympathy card with his paw print. Boght Vet Clinic used to be affordable, friendly, and caring. This is no longer the case.

Extremely hard to get an appointment here, probably due to the fact that there are only 2 Veterinarians. You have to make an appt a month ahead of time. Impossible to get in on the phone before 10 am. My last appt was the last one of the day and my dog needed an xray. Well the DR had an appt to go to so my xray couldn't happen. Don't really think this place is worth the hassle. read more
