It's a pretty spacious site as well with a private bench that overlooks the lake. The walk in is about 5 minutes but there is a slight incline towards the sites so not a bad walk but with a cart full of stuff you might be feeling it. Beware of the flies!! The flies were so awful at our site, not sure if that's the case with the other sites but we decided to do a hike mid day because we couldn't relax at the site without a swarm of flies around us. we probably won't go back to this site because of that. The site has a bear box but critters can still get inside!! we have some of our food nibbled on both nights so they definitely know there way around. Pebble beach is beautiful, busy at times but great for relaxing, dipping your toes in or enjoying a picnic. Speaking of picnics, they have a designated "picnic area" that has a pavilion, an inside multipurpose room, flush toilets and plenty of picnic tables along the shoreline. It's not my favorite campsite along the North Shore, but still beautiful and worth the visit.

The historical objects and the stories told on the walls and by the museum worker were phenomenal. I loved learning about the Ojibwe people, culture and history and I can't believe how much I learned. It is amazing to have a museum exist like this. They also showed a section about the French fur traders and there were cool maps and incredible objects to see there too. The museum worker was so kind and he also told us really amazing stories and history that wasn't just in the museum. He really made it a special experience as well, I forgot to ask hiI highly recommend this museum for anyone staying at Madeline Island, it really makes you realize what a special place it is for so many reasons. The staff was friendly and informative. The exhibits were very well organized with each room having a separate theme. One notable thing was the volunteers working at looms to make carpets and place mats. We bought one; excellent quality - hand-made the way it was done before mass production. Admission is free; we left a donatiion. We spent about 90 minutes here seeing the various way life was starting in 1880 and through to almost 1980. The museum is only open from 10:00 A - 2:00 P on MWF and Saturday. Plan accordingly. The top floor boasts an old courthouse. The basement carries a lot of equipment from 100 years ago. Lots to see.

We had visited the Depot in Duluth and seen the North Shore Scenic Railroad departure point, so we were looking forward to visit the Two Harbors Depot Museum, where the NSSR train stops for its northernmost point. The depot is located in the 1907 headquarters of the Duluth and Iron Range Railway Company. It's been charmingly restored, with ticket booths and telephone operator stations still intact. There are several different areas of displays, covering everything from military service to local culture at the turn of the last century. The museum has a gift shop and bathrooms available. Be aware of the timing of your visit; if you arrive at the same time the NSSR train does, there will be many passengers lining up to use those bathrooms, as the train is historic and does not have lavatory facilities. We were able to see the train pull into the station and, after its rest stop, hear that most lovely sound--a train whistle signaling "All Aboard!" The Depot Museum is definitely worth a stop for all visitors to Two Harbors!

Well, it only gets you $2 admission ($5 regular) but it does not give you the discount off the combo deal (all 3 museums - the tugboat just closed this year). I was glad not to do the $10 combo deal since our Lighthouse B&B gave us voucher to use on the other museums. The 3M museum is a pretty decent museum considering they seriously lack funding. It is nice to see that our admission went to a good cause so that they hopefully update it. There are a total of 4 rooms and each describes the history and progress over the years. The dummy scared my wife as well as the staff member. If you bump into the dummy, then it wiggles and shakes like a real person. Well, I think if there was access to the Innovation Center, then I would highly recommend it to you. However, this charming quaint place is nice to revisit our employer over the holidays.
