The staff are always friendly and decently paced if not overly chatty and engaging, to be fair it has always been quite busy when we have been in. There is a good range of beers on tap, normal prices all round, again typical of a contemporary bar in this regard. The food though while again typically priced has been a pleasant surprise on eat visit. While the prices mean the the food would need to be of a decent standard each trip has managed to prove to be over and above expectation, so it is always a pleasure to know we're going here, for a pint or a plate.

It was very spacious I could imagine you could have a good size party here. There is a small dance-floor you can go up and throw your crazy shapes after one to many. The bar is quite small so if it was a full house I could imagine it would take abit of time to get served but nothing major. The staff are very friendly aswell. Downstairs is just a public bar, i would say a crowd ranging from mid twenties up. So maybe not great for a younger crowd. The bar is very small so it can get packed very quick and with not many seats you could end up standing most of the night. Great choice of drinks and cocktails. Teddys is one of my favourite places to eat in Bangor at the moment. They do honest good food at reasonable prices. They do an early bird and often have other offers on as well. The interior is nice and the staff welcoming and friendly but won't pester you while you are eating. It's also with noting that throughout the day and evening they do "coffee and cake" for £3.95. By cake they actually mean anything from the dessert menu. Cheaper than the big coffee chains and their sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I've had. What's not to love about that deal.

The staff are lovely and helpful, and coupled with the nice décor and the comfy seats with extra cushions along the wall seats it all becomes a lovely place to be no matter what you are in for. Until tonight (26th Feb 16), I have felt fairly letdown with the place, but we tried yet again and were pleasantly surprised. Food was great, service was great and we had a really nice night here. I am excited to see the place has changed their attitude and getting back to what works well. My old review, just before refurbishment - In my opinion The Esplanade is now one of the nicest places in Bangor to eat. Don't make the mistake of asking for a white wine because they have loads and it will only expose your lack of wine knowledge as it did on my case. It seems that other reviewers have had mixed experiences of The Salty Dog but every time I've been in I have throughly enjoyed myself and my grub. A highlight was the compressed apple for dessert, which gave a strong taste of apple leaving a slightly floral note at the end. Overall a very relaxing and gratifying experience. Sumptuous décor and a varied and delicious sounding menu. As we were there during the week we availed of the two courses for £9.99 (I think that was the price so apologies if I got this wrong, my mum was paying) We both ordered the soup for starter, Butternut Squash, chilli and coconut. Very tasty and a huge portion, I couldn't finish mine because I wanted to leave room for the main. My mother ordered slow cooked beef brisket, Mash and roast root veg while I had the smoked haddock, creamy bacon and leek sauce and the same sides. I cannot fault the food, it was delicious. My only tipple would have been that a selection of different sides for the fish may have been a little better, Maybe some samphire and potato croquets or some such. We also caught a glimpse of their cram tea on another table which looked stunning (I think the Waitress said it was £20/25 per head) Overall an amazing place for lunch, but it doesn't end there.
