I am totally out of my element here and had flavor, spice and textures that were super exciting. The Mac and cheese with brisket took the simple family concept and wowed.

The venue gives off a welcoming vibe with its red brick walls and candle lights creating an intimate atmosphere. They also have a spacious alfresco dining out front for those hot summer night as it was tonight. For starter I had crispy chilli beef (with lime & coriander mayonnaise). This delicious salad was bursting with flavour. Chillies and lime - beef has never tasted so good! And Scallops the richness of the black pudding is magic with the clean taste of the scallops - delicious! My main of lamb rump was a good sized serve. Worth having again! I also managed to swipe a taste of the Barbary duck breast I can vouch that it was melt-in-the-mouth perfect and came with a very generous amount of the sauce, fondant potato & vegetables. When it came to dessert Chocolate mouse though, was an absolute knock-out. I had a really good night and excellent service from Ben and his team! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu, including the Sunday roast and bring my son as kids eat free! 405 Upper Newtonards Road, Tel: 02890671105

There was a 10/15 minute wait for a table but that was grand after all its sunday morning brunch time. I ordered the best of the market breakfast (see pic) and asked for my tea to be served at the same time. Food came out quickly but I didnt get asked if I wanted any condiments, had to ask myself. I was about half way through breakfast as well before I had to remind them id also ordered a tea. This came without milk so had to ask for that too. So the food itself was good, ive had better, ive had worse. I didnt like the very crispy slice of fried soda, personally I prefer a nice soft soda farl to mop up sauces and egg. Potato bread was ok and the rest nice but not mind blowing. Overall its not bad. Lovely setting, friendly, if not forgetful staff. Id come back but ive had better breakfasts. Maybe try a lunch or a dinner next time.

I visited yesterday (Saturday 14.05.2016) with my sister and we had an extremely enjoyable leisurely lunch sitting on said balcony, watching bustling St George's Market, soaking up atmosphere and listening to wonderful live music. Service was good and there were a few Vegetarian options on the menu. It's a pity these Vegetarian dishes aren't more clearly marked with a (V) plus a few more Vegetarian dishes would be great, but at least they are there. Caroline S ordered a Veggie Breakfast (£6.75) which was the most impressive looking Vegetarian Fry I've ever seen, plus she assured me it tasted fantastic. I opted for a pasta dish with butternut squash, walnuts, onion and rosemary (£6.95). Delicious food in generous portions at reasonable prices. We managed to work our way through glasses of Pinot Grigio, Rose and Prosecco. St George's Market Bar and Grill also do the most amazing pure apple juice and Prosecco cocktail which we thought the best Prosecco based cocktail we have ever tried. Most of the restaurant ingredients are fresh and local, coming from the market itself. We arrived at just before 1pm and stayed until after 3pm as we had such a wonderful time there. Even inside this restaurant is beautiful due to natural light coming through a skylight rooftop, however the best tables are definitely on the balcony. I'm already plotting my return...

Service was fast but the girl serving us was pretty dry and barely spoke. I ordered their special elderflower cocktail which for me tasted more like apple than anything else. The food however was delicious. We started with the Korean chicken wings with kimichi- were really flavoursome, perhaps a little spicy but that's just my taste. For main I had seabass which was perfectly cooked and delicately flavoured with a garlic butter. Didn't try the desserts as we were too full. I'd definitely visit this restaurant again. Whilst sat at the window seat we noticed so many other people wandering around looking confused outside....the restaurant entrance is right round the back away from the road however there is a door at the side leading into offices and the tedfords sign was misleading and could be better placed to direct you round the building.

The wait between each course, taking drink orders and even getting a dessert menu was frustratingly long. So much so that we had to go to the greeter at the front door multiple times just to get attention. During the evening, no staff acknowledged that we might want a drink. No one came to take our order without us getting up and going to the greeter to ask for a waiter. No one asked us if we wanted the bill. After another half hour of waiting we went to the greeter again and asked them for the bill and paid directly there. It wasn't even a busy night. We left infuriated. I emailed them over two days ago with all this feedback and they didn't respond.
