You can't bring in cans or glass, but plastic 20oz bottles ARE allowed! The park is clean, they probably need more bathrooms as they were always full with a line... and more shade would be nice too. The only thing I hated was that every 45 minutes there's a mandatory evacuation of the water for everyone (unless you're a parent with a small child). There was confusion about if adults without kids could stay in... but either way, it was disappointing that the entire pool had to clear out for 15 minutes EVERY 45 minutes. I've never been to a water park where lifeguards didn't just swap in and out for breaks. If you have a Groupon it's worth going. Otherwise, I'll stick closer to home as this was a solid hour from my house. If I could give a tip to the owners... For your BIG slides, have the line start at the BOTTOM of the slides. Then at the mid point on the stairs, allow one rider for each slide to wait. At the top of the ladder, have two riders... one that's going to go down the slide and one at the top of the stairs. As each rider goes down the slide, move the kids up the ladder so that it's SAFER than a ginormous line of kids standing on stairs. All it takes is one child to misstep and fall and knock out everyone standing on the steps with them.

Everyone loved the cabins and the beds were comfortable. They were very clean and easy to keep clean and fully enjoyable other than being very warm inside. The park is not very informative on many things. We received a packet with wristbands and the keys to the cabin and a map. I understand nowadays a lot of people use cell phones, but it really would've been nice to have a paper list of activities and times on one sheet of paper so that we could have posted it instead of searching all over on a website. We really had no clue about the movie night about the tractor ride and many other things. First off when we arrived the first two cabins were extremely hot. The third was OK and the fourth was really decent but the third and fourth were covered more by trees. No matter how hard we tried, we could not get it cool in the cabins. One of my grandsons went to school for heating and cooling and said he felt they needed recharged and also all the coils on the back condenser had dirt dust and debris, causing less airflow for cooling. A couple of the smoke detectors didn't even have batteries and on the last night one was actually beeping. Since we had so many for the weekend, they did come in waves first night on Thursday. My son called down for me to bring up their wristbands. The guard there was very rude to them and very short and when I went to take them the wristbands. Mine wasn't on my wrist, but it was in my pocket And he questioned me. And then we were never given instructions how to enter a code or given a code to enter the gate and the guard was very rude to that he had explain it. My son stated he felt like the president was on the campground lol. The second night the same thing happened with my daughter, and the guard was very short with them and rude. On the third night we decided to go out for ice cream and the security guard on return was very friendly and we had no problems whatsoever. I'm am inclosing some pictures of operation hours which I felt was very wrong. I googled peak season for Ohio camping and it stated that Sandusky Jellystone Park states peak season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. But when we arrived on Thursday, hardy anything was open and the more we researched we found out they consider anything after August 10 to be non-peak season and they have the main attractions and a lot of stuff closed on Monday through Thursday. On Friday we tried to go swim and the lake was completely closed the whole day and they did not open the pool till 3 o'clock and they did open the waterpark at 2 o'clock. We feel there should been a disclosure when we rented stating a lot of things were closed. And then offered a lower rate. I don't understand how the same brand can state two different things on prime time camping. And on Friday, it said John o's restaurant was open at noon, but people were showing up as we were playing Pickleball between two and three, and it wasn't open. It just seems that the concern is more about money than offering a full quality time for their customers. Don't get me wrong. It is a very nice campground and they do a lot right but there are some things they need to relook at.

Very large campground!…read more I highly recommend bringing bikes or renting a golf cart if staying here. We booked in advance on the online system. It can be a bit confusing because they want you to pay extra for a specific site. The campgrounds prices are on the higher end and more than we traditionally pay but we like to do at least one camping splurge each year. We ended up getting site 340 at check in. It was along the river which was great bc my kids enjoyed playing in it. However so did everyone else in the campground so our space didn't have a lot of privacy. Lots of people cutting through it to go to the river. They had several events throughout the weekend. We decided to try the Easter egg hunt on Saturday. It was a big disappointment. Even though we showed up at starting time the eggs were already gone and lots of empty handed kids. I think they laid the eggs out early and kids came early and picked it up. They had a cool indoor rec area for the kids. We did a craft that the kids enjoyed and went back after the water park but it closes at 7 so the timing didn't work out. Even though they said they would be open the next day we rode by several times and it was closed on Sunday. The water park was nice. Although crowded the kids enjoyed the pool and water playground. They also had wibits for adults and kids. Included is also kayaking or paddleboarding but there were not many paddles to use. The campground also has put putt, a bounce pad, volleyball, covered basketball court, playgrounds, restaurants, and cornhole. I recommend bringing your own life jacket. Although no real listed trails there are lots of areas to hike. There are only 2 shower houses in the campground so showering was a challenge getting a stall and having hot water. 2 dump stations if your don't have a hook up at your site. Everyone had a great time!

We arrived around 1:30 PM and were pleasantly surprised that our room was already ready -- such a relief after traveling, especially with kids. However, the new luggage carts are definitely a downgrade. They barely hold anything, and if you have more than just a couple of bags, it turns into a hassle. Really hoping they switch back to the old style. The waterpark itself is always a blast, but I do wish the hours were longer. Closing at 8 PM on weeknights feels early when you're on vacation and trying to fit everything in. Same for the sweet treat shop -- we felt rushed trying to get from the waterpark to the room, get dressed, and then make it down to the arcade and grab treats all within about 45 minutes. We chose the Stay & Play package mainly for the arcade credit ($100 each night), but we didn't realize that when you use the package credits, the games don't give you tickets. That was disappointing, especially with kids who love winning prizes. On the positive side, the kids absolutely loved the Build-a-Bear experience. It was pricey at about $100 for two bears, but it is vacation, and they had so much fun that it was worth it. I also really liked the new charging wristbands -- super convenient and nice not having to carry a card around all day. As for comfort, the waterpark air could've been warmer. I remember it feeling much more comfortable in past visits, but this time I felt cold almost the whole time. The hallways were especially chilly. Food-wise, the Pizza Pub was fantastic. We had it delivered right to our room, and both the pizza and the chicken chunks were delicious -- honestly one of our favorite meals of the trip. Overall, even with a few hiccups, we had a fun stay and would visit again. Kalahari still delivers a great family getaway, just with a few things I hope they adjust back to how they used to be.

We contacted resort staff three separate times with serious concerns during our stay and saw no action taken--only empty apologies. That lack of response was extremely frustrating and made it feel like guest experience was not a priority. Going back to the room for a break didn't help. Our room faced a solid wall, did not have a fireplace as advertised, and we dealt with constant loud door slamming and wall pounding from nearby cleaning staff. It was not relaxing and made it difficult to rest. The conditions in the waterpark were also unacceptable. The lines for the water slides smelled strongly of urine, as if people were urinating while standing in line, which was extremely unpleasant and unhygienic. The wave pool was especially concerning. Chunks of concrete were breaking off the bottom of the pool, and I cut my foot on one of these pieces, about the size of a penny. There was concrete grit throughout the water, which was very unsafe - I gave chunks to the staff to emphasize my concerns. On top of all of this, everything was freezing cold. The wave pool water was freezing, the slide water was freezing, and the hot tubs were not hot at all despite hour-long wait lines with 40+ people. Even the indoor temperature felt cold. For the cost of this stay, none of this was acceptable. Overall, this experience was not worth what we paid and fell far below expectations.
