Dr. Wilmer suggested I get a wisdom tooth pull even though it was not bothering me at almost 50…read moreyears old, during a routine cleaning. I went and got it pulled and had problems ever since! I haven't eaten on that side of my mouth for two years. I go to see him months after the pull and he tells me " it looks like whoever pulled the tooth cracked the tooth beside it" so he sends me to his friend (affiliate) she tells me there is no crack but she sees a cavity and has to do a root canal. I refuse the root canal because I showed no cavity on X-ray. So, I go to another dentist NOT affiliated with them and he tells me he sees NO cavity and NO crack. My old insurance was running out ironically around the time my tooth started hurting so I went back to him because he was close and really wanted to see what he says this time. I gave him a recap of everything that happened and of course this time he sees no cavity or crack. I had a cleaning scheduled, again trying to use coverage, but the billing lady called and gave me a price larger than expected so I questioned it. And in rude form ,as she always is ,she gives attitude and tells me if I have two insurances by law she has to charge me both deductibles even if one covers it. I checked with three other dentists and they say that's not true. So, I cancel the appointment. I will be calling the dental board to find out this information as well. I guess this office doesn't believe in patients advocating for themselves ,because after I get a letter stating they will not service me any longer. What a joke! I wasn't coming back there anyhow!!! I was using that insurance up quick that expired in 2 days for a cleaning. Now that my new insurance has started I was definitely looking for a dentist and office that doesn't give bad advice, refer to affiliates , and respect their patients' rights! She sent me all paper work that I needed to review and fill by text and gave me very clear instruction so that when I arrived for my appointment there was no confusion or rush to complete forms. When I arrived in the office, I was acknowledged by Ms. Marry Farmer in a professional and caring attitude. Within a reasonable waiting time, I was called in by Ms. Ashley Shealy who turned to be the best oral hygienist I have had in past 50 years. Review for 1 of my children. My child went in for their regular cleaning. My child came out looking…read moreabsolutely miserable. I knew something was wrong but they just kept saying I'm ok. I was told everything was fine just brush/floss better. When we leave and get in the car I get told that the cleaning was incredibly painful. And that my child even dropped some tears. Came home and gave them some motrin cause their mouth was hurting. Motrin wore off so I just gave some Tylenol so hopefully they can get some sleep. They are miserable! I've never heard of that from a cleaning with no other issues. My child told me that the hygienist was really rough and would slip and say my bad or sorry or something similar. I feel absolutely horrible for letting my child go back by themselves. They are older so I'm trying to let them do some things on their own before they are adults. But now my child is miserable and in pain and I get to feel like a horrible parent! And now they have unlocked a new fear of the dentist. :( I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because this is the first visit to go this way. But I was also in the room for the other cleanings. I went to Northside Family Dentistry after too many years of no dental insurance. Yesterday I was…read moreto get a root canal and a crown on a tooth I had broken several days before. Katelynn has set up a payment plan with three payments including the insurance coverage. Dr.Newsome and Jen were awesome as I sat for over three hours while they did all the work. You may ask why the one star review if everything went so well. Here is the issue I have; after my crown was installed Katelynn came in to tell me that this type of extensive dental work i was not covered at all by my insurance and she had a new payment plan that now covered six months of payments. I was livid. I would never have done all that work especially the crown if I had known ahead of time. I understand mistakes are made but this one was going to cost me almost $800. I told Katelynn I would not sign the plan until I had a chance to think about it. She tried to push me into it, minimizing the huge problem of the extra cost. She said "a pop up must have came up that was not noticed ". Regardless of why it was missed I signed two contracts for the three month plan. I signed one at my initial appointment on Monday and another yesterday before the work because the plan with the crown had not been saved for some reason. Now I was supposed to get a cleaning by the hygienist named John. I was just about to leave without having it done because I was so upset but John spent time calming me down which meant he would have to stay late for my cleaning. These people were all great and even this morning one Advil was enough to help the pain. The other root canal I had many years ago even the hydrocodone they gave me did not help. If it weren't for the huge mistake made with my bill this would have been a five star review. I would have written it yesterday as soon as I returned but I wanted time to think about what to say. I rarely write reviews but I felt this "mistake " deserved I just got a call from Katelynn. Dr. Vincent's was spoken to today and the decision was made to keep the original payment schedule. That is awesome and the right thing to do. I have changed my review to five stars because mistakes are made every day and I certainly am not above them. It is how those mistakes are dealt with that tells the tale and Northside Family Dentistry did the right thing. Thank you all for your help and the start of a long relationship with my family's teeth. I now only have to wait six months for my insurance to work on some of my other dental issues. I especially want to thank Katelynn for taking the time to explain my coverage to me more in depth today so now I know what I can and cannot have done and when for it to be covered.

Exactly, yet when we have something…read morewrong with our mouth, we act as if they're modern day miracle workers who can improve the health of our mouth for no money, right now and everything will be perfect. Do we not realize, these people are key to making kissing our lovers more palatable (bonus if you caught the play on words)? Considering I what I just wrote, I've pondered this dilemma many times. So in essence I'm more apt to cut some slack in these regards. At Old Trolley Dental Associates off of the namesake road, they will take very good care of you. That said the parking lot is very easy to get in and out of and it's in a very safe section of town. Walking in, it's very clean and sterile. Moreover, the people here are phenomenal! From the front desk, to the assistants and so on they're all extremely kind. Moreover, they were able to get me in very quickly, which I can't claim about so many other options in the area. When I first got in the chair they went over my issues, did xrays, did an inspection and had a quote pretty quick. This is important b/c dental work can get expensive very quickly. In other words there were no surprises while the assistant was extremely helpful and literally took measurements of everything. Literally the most comprehensive exam I've ever had. Next, enter Dr Scott Kibler. Of course, I had to throw the "anti-dentite B###" from Seinfeld in there. He had a great sense of humor. But what I really liked is he was a realist, not sugar coating (pardon the reference) my exam and treatment. As for the procedure, he's very efficient and will numb you up as much as needed. I never felt pain and was surprised how quick the procedure went. It was the smoothest visit I've ever had, even with getting a crown. Also this point is HUGE. They do the crowns on site via a 3D printing machine. This means, no temp crown and having to come back later. This to me was a most welcome surprise. Overall, the process was detailed and their work which included numerous xrays remedied my situation. The price was as expected and there were no "gotchas." The staff were excellent and I love the dentist. I believe you can have faith in this practice that they have your health in mind when taking care of you. For the first time ever, I won't mind going to the dentist.
