I showed up and he was not there, I tired contacting him and I was ignored. I told the bailiff my attorney never showed up and what I can do they told me to come back at 2:30pm. I returned and Scott finally showed up. He didn't acknowledge me at all until I went up to him and told him to just accept the plea because I didn't trust his services after ignoring me. Part of the plea was house arrest. He never helped with that process and when I asked him for help and that I was stressing he said he is no longer counsel post conviction. You would think after messing up and ignoring me the last court date he would try to make it up but nothing. I cannot in good faith recommend Scott for his services. He did not have my best interest and caused me more stress and headaches. I honestly should've just gone with a public defender. Thousands of dollars later I feel in a worse situation then I started. Elica Zadeh, came to my rescue for my first hearing date to have my hearing date contintued to a later date, since I had just retained them. She was super friendly, down to earth and extremely knowledgable about the law. She was someone that I really liked and would have loved to continue working with, but was advised to hire a divorce attorney since I was filing for a divorce and they specialized in criminal law. Fortunately, I'm not a criminal and had a clean record prior to this wrongful arrest that the DA rejected and threw out. Unfortunately, communication and follow-through after that point were extremely limited. We did not speak with Ms. Johnson again after September, and most communication was through office staff via text. We repeatedly asked for updates on the status of our case. We were told we were "waiting to hear from the courts." However, when we contacted CPS directly in November, we were informed that the case had already been substantiated over a month earlier. We continued to follow up through December, January, February and March. During that time: - We were told the findings were likely unsubstantiated due to lack of notice, which turned out to be incorrect - We were told an 827 request would be filed, but later communications suggested it had not been done - We experienced long gaps with no response In March, we were again asked if we wanted to file a records request, despite having asked for this months earlier. In April, we received records in the mail without any accompanying explanation. This lack of timely communication and clarity made it difficult for us to understand our situation or make informed decisions during a stressful process. Our case also involved a child with Smith-Magenis syndrome, a rare condition that is often misunderstood in medical and CPS settings, which made clear guidance especially important. While our in-person experience with Ms. Johnson was positive, the overall handling of our case after that point fell short of expectations.
