She repeatedly gave excuses -- "my son is sick," "my sister is sick," "my computer got hacked/wet" -- and promised paperwork would be sent "Monday" multiple times, but never delivered anything. Very unprofessional. Asked her a question and she quickly shut down anything I had to say telling me it was impossible while many other attorneys advised otherwise. Mind you, during the phone call she kept putting me on hold and was playing with what I think was her child. She didn't ask me much about my concerns other than tell me to not file for custody because I wouldn't get it even though the father abandoned my children. She responded with a snarky attitude. I hired Ms Lerma to handle a case that resulted in a one hour hearing. After the hearing I asked for my final invoice and any unused retainer (after a 5k deposit) for nearly a month and got no response other than she was out of town every time I asked. Finally, I received an invoice with charges for phone calls, texts and emails that was exaggerated to eat up the retainer. I was told I had a outstanding balance but would credit my account to bring current. Overall, the experience was not positive nor negative just disappointing after reading the good reviews and this being a referral from a friend. read more

This review is LONG overdue and deserves much more than 5 stars a simple shout out for her dedication to truly help a client or potential client. I called Mrs. Lerma's Law Office for a consultation and was helped out by her assistant whom took my information down. Within a couple hours Mrs. Lerman reached out to me. After giving her info on my case she said there was no way she would charge me because she didn't want to take my money when what I needed to do was simple enough to follow her instructions/advice and obtain results. I don't want to go into detail here about my case. She provided me with links, for info, she sent me a blank form that I needed to fill out in order for me to reply properly to the courts (mind you I had emergency court the next day) I did everything she told me and I thought that would the end or the last time I would hear from her since I did not hire her (not cause I didn't want to, but because this wonderful woman did not want to take my money lol). A couple days later she called me and I was so surprised because she wanted to know what my day in court ended up being like. I told her the commissioner did not see us, the petitioner didn't even show up, and she said " I told you this would happen" she was right. Everything she told me would happen and would not happen went exactly that way. She took down my case# since the 1st time we spoke and that was that. Just a couple days ago this week she called me back again because I mentioned to her I hadn't heard from the court. She calls me and tells me she was in that court room for a client of hers and asked about the status of my case since she had my info. She was able to conclude that the commissioner did not grant the (pardon me if I dnt say it properly) EX PARTE and she sent me all this info from the courts website on my case. TRULLY HANDS DOWN THIS WOMAN IS AWESOME. NOT 1 PENNY CHARGED. I just know she's gotta be an awesome human being and she must be VERY PASSIONATE about her job and JUSTICE cause I doubt she would have helped me IF she would have sensed I was out to be a dog to the opposing part just to be a shifty person. I hired this woman during COVID to handle my child custody case. She was "nice" but didn't do me any good. She literally let the other party (my daughters father) get what he wanted. most unprofessional attorney I have ever known, dresses sloppy and does not return emails, or meet deadlines. Ex husband offered me a generous settlement , she did not let me know about it, or reply to him before his offer expired, I now have to pay more than 50% of our marital debt and his attorney fees for having ot bring her to court, she dragged my divorce out for over 2 years, charged me ridiculously and got nothing done. I am now looking for a new attorney to repair the damage she did and to try and regain custody of our child - my ex was pro per - she could not win a case against a man with no attorney - Judge reversed and flipped everything to his favor for her lack of profesioanlism and other insults she was guilt of. Long story short, she made a lot of proimsies everything I wanted to hear but cold not deliver, is now costingme more time and money and im not seeing our daughter as much as I could, for following her advice I violated court orders when I refused to allow her father to know where she was enrolledin school - lerma law said I was within my rights to not give her father this information.
