This place is the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. I contacted them to book for…read moremy bridal shower. A deposit was paid months in advance with the balance due 2 weeks before the event. We called and wrote them constantly and got no response. Finally we finally got an answer 1 month before the event and spoke to the owners son or relative. Due to COVID we were told by the owners son that we could only have 25 guests, he also told us to wait until closer to see if we still wanted to have the event. More time passed and we contacted them again to say were going to cancel and get our deposit back. This time we spoke to the owner and she was refusing to give us any money back stating they could not refund us because we waited until 2 weeks before to cancel. We explained they have not been answering (a google number) and we spoke to her son and gave her the information that was communicated to us. She bluntly said "I told my son not to tell anyone we could refund them" that was not our fault nor our concern. I explained to her that that is a conversation between them and the agreement was a verbal one and she should honor it. She was supposed to call us back to reach an agreement and we did not hear anything until the week of the event. She said she will not refund us because she will be losing money. I urge you if you value your hard earned money and time this is NOT the venue for you. I support black owned businesses all the time but is one I will NEVER recommend anyone, not even my worse enemy.

I am obsessed with modern and contemporary art galleries and museums, so I was absolutely shocked…read moreto learn this gallery existed within the New Orleans area. His art is very reminiscent of Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, and similar artists within this parallel universe. The gallery is free to visit and it's massive. I was in awe of how much space there is and it is top to bottom stacked with art. Every section has a different thematic and concept and it was super cool to see the different art methods. I found out the space is available for private event rentals and you can also enjoy a complimentary drink! Drinks and Art is seriously the way to my heart. From $30 to the thousands, there is something in everyone's budget to take home a piece of Josh Wingerter's art. You can actually purchase a spray can that he actually uses for his artwork covered in one of his signature prints for $30. It's such a cool concept and a great way to reduce, reuse, recycle. Eco-friendly Art for the win! While I was walking around I discovered he does a lot of community outreach and is actually from Westwego. It makes total sense as to why he wanted to come back home. Josh Wingerter has actually displayed his work and done galleries all over the world including Art Basel in Miami. I'm really excited to follow him on social media and come back for future events! This is an absolute must visit for anyone in the area or wanting a fun and unique trip. It's at most 20-30 minutes from Orleans Parish.

Such a cool place! Definitely a must see just a short drive across the river from New Orleans…read more Nothing stuffy about this gallery it's a whole vibe I wanna experience more when I'm viewing art!

Let me tell you something. We just finished a swamp tour in the Louisiana bayou -- gators, cypress…read moretrees, Spanish moss, the whole magnificent thing -- and we were hungry, a little wild-eyed, and in desperate need of a meal worthy of the morning we just had. Restaurant des Familles delivered in every single way. We ordered the crab cakes, the turtle soup, and the étouffée, and I am not being dramatic when I say all three were absolutely out of this world. The crab cakes were perfect -- crispy outside, sweet and fresh inside, no filler, no shortcuts. The turtle soup was rich and deeply seasoned in that only-in-Louisiana way that makes you close your eyes on the first spoonful. And the étouffée? Silky, buttery, loaded with flavor. Every single dish tasted like someone's grandmother made it with love and a lifetime of knowing exactly what she was doing. But beyond the food -- this place is just beautiful. Tucked right into the bayou, quiet and unhurried, with that warm Louisiana hospitality that makes you feel like a welcome guest rather than a table to turn. We walked in as road-tripping strangers and left feeling like we'd found one of the best kept secrets in the whole state. If you are anywhere near Barataria, whether you just came off a swamp tour or you made the drive specifically for this -- stop here. You will not regret a single bite. Restaurant des Familles is the real deal.

This restaurant is conveniently located right on the waterway and offers beautiful views while dining. We've been lucky enough to catch a few of the female alligators sunbathing on the banks during sunny days. The menu has something for everyone featuring many delicious choices. You could definitely share as the portions are huge! Don't sleep on the Onion Rings, it's always a table favorite!
