You can get groceries, get a tan, swim, or go to a nearby restaurant for some yummy food. This is SUPER convenient especially if you're unfit to drive and/or wanna enjoy the environment. It's nice to have all this within walking distance. ADDITIONALLY, if you are too shy to swim at the beautiful nearby beach then you could enjoy the campground's pool :) it's kid friendly and convenient to have nearby your campsite. The staff is awesome! Everyone has always been super nice and friendly. They are very lighthearted and make you feel at home. This is exactly the camping environment I'd like to be in (all summer long)! The campsites vary in size, which appeases different type of campers. Whether you're with your family, or taking it easy with just one gal pal, you can book a variety of campsites. You can book a smaller scenic campsite, if you're just staying over for one night. OR, you could book a bigger campsite, if you and your big family wanna stay for 5+ days. I've always camped here for 5+ days, so I've booked the bigger campsites with my family. It's nice having those options :) The campsites are beea-uti-fulll! So scenic, and depending on what site you book you can hear the relaxing melody of the stream. It's super helpful if you struggle to sleep at night, as it distracts you and reminds you of the beauty of nature. Overall, it's a beautiful experience. Cheers!

Next to the office is a laundry room for cleaning your clothes. The Campsite even offers a Pool! (Open from 9am - 9pm) The area itself is not too big, but big enough that you will have enough privacy on your reserved spot. There are some RV places with outlets and some more tent-sites where you can park your car, pop up your tent and enjoy yourself and a nice BBQ on your fireplace. When we were there, a ice cream truck came by in the evening which was a really nice thing. The Creek marks one side of the campground, but because of the salmon coming back to reproduce it's not allowed to step in/ wade/ bath/ play in it. But that's okay, I mean the "big water" is not far and you can go swimming in one of the many bays this region has to offer (or the pool ;) ). They have a designated security person for emergencies and patrols at night, so you can feel safe all the time. I really enjoyed how friendly everyone was, that there are so many big trees on site and you have everything you need for a nice stay. This is definitely a place to come back to.

After a week of backroad camping, the bathrooms here felt like a spa--clean, modern, and truly appreciated. Though we didn't get a chance to use the pool or hot tub, they looked well-maintained and seemed popular with other guests. Families seemed to enjoy the adjacent public park for kids, and as dog travelers, we also appreciated the easy-access dog park. The rules around pets were respected, and fellow guests were polite and considerate with their animals. That said, the campsites were extremely close together, especially on the tent side near the highway, which made it hard to relax with the consistent road noise. Our picnic table was broken and clearly damaged, though staff acknowledged it and said they would address it. While we were outside--without food--we also noticed rats running through the area, which was unsettling. Most concerning was that the site hadn't been cleaned between guests; litter was left behind, and it gave the sense that turnover wasn't being managed as carefully as it should be. All in all, the staff were warm and responsive, the location can't be beat, and the amenities were a welcome upgrade from rustic camping. But site maintenance and cleanliness need attention. With a little love, this could be a standout stop for road trippers. Thank you for the safe spot to stay on our trip!

Due to my son's illness, I had to eventually cancel well within the required notice period. The owner refused to refund any of my money, even the two refundable nights.

As frequent travelers from Seattle area to Canada for our daughters hockey games, we look forward to staying at Cedars RV Resort and will continue the tradition we've started. Just an extremely well-run operation and we're so happy we discovered this place with such wonderful people. One time the door on our travel trailer somehow wasn't properly secured when we left it... so during a breezy rainstorm while we were not there, the door physically opened. Scott, Cedars maintenance manager, was first to notice the problem and shut the door, but it could not be locked without the key, so Yvette, operations manager, was so kind to call me to make me aware of the situation, out of concern that the door might open on its own again and our camper might be subjected to water damage. Yvette went out of her way to let me know what happened in case I wanted to lock the door, and I thought this really speaks to the high level of customer care at Cedars. With all of her other responsibilities as manager of operations at Cedars, this kind of concern by Yvette and her staff for those at the property was really wonderful, and points to why Cedars is such a beautiful, well-maintained and popular vacation spot. Yvette, you and your staff rock!

Wifi service is available only around the front office and pool, which is slightly inconvenient but did the trick. It is managed by SCRD (Sinshine Coast Regional District) now, so the price is pretty affordable. $18/night for a tent site (max 5 people - 1 tent and 1 vehicle) plus $8 reservation fee. Extra vehicle can park at visitor area for a fee. Initially we were dismayed to know the tent sites were in a row, with no big space for privacy. The ground was gravel and not grass. So do bring air mattress or something for your sleeping bag, especially if you have a bad back. We got used to it and the fellow campers were friendly and kept to themselves. It is more of a family campground with many children. Everyone kept to the quiet hours of 10 pm to 7 am. There was a campfire ban when we were there. It came into effect just 2 days before we were there. Unfortunate but needed due to the dryness. Sunshine Coast was also in stage 2 of water conservation then. The good thing about this camp is the shower and toilet facilities. The caretaker (Lynn) does a great job in keeping it clean and the camp area is also clean. There are sites for the tents and RVs, plus a big area for big group. Think it is for 30 people. It is right by the lake which is also used by non campers. Lots of families come here to cool off in the summer heat. So the lake is only quiet in the early morning and after the sun sets. Katherine lake is home to the painted turtles though I didn't see any. Saw plenty of tiny fishes in the lake. Now I know why some campers come here every year. It is a good base to explore Sunshine Coast. The nearest village is Madeira Park where there is an IGA and some cafes and restaurants, pharmacy, plus a BC liquor store. The downside is actually booking it. The website is not the best. Payment is via PayPal. In the end I had to send a message on the website to book it. Lynn was quick to respond and helped me book it. Payment by etransfer or PayPal. The phone number on the website doesn't work.

We chose a double site, which was ideal, and appreciated that it operated on a first-come, first-served basis. Many people book online but often do not cancel if they are no-shows. Although the website showed no availability, there were plenty of empty sites when we arrived. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, which was a plus. However, the amenities need improvement. The power outlets did not work, the taps only provided cold water, and the showers never got truly hot. The water was lukewarm at best. Since it was cold and rainy during our stay, a hot shower would have made a big difference. The showers operate on a push-button system, delivering water in short 10-second bursts, which was frustrating. The windows are left open, making the bathroom area uncomfortably cold. Toilet seat was like a sheet of ice in the morning. On the positive side, the campground has a large number of sites and is conveniently close to the beach.

The campsites are a good size, with newly painted picnic tables that are in excellent shape. I expected the camping area to be busier, so we made reservations, however, it wasn't even half full when we arrived for weekend camping. We had to share the communal fire pit (with convenient benches in place around the outside) the first evening, but had it to ourselves the second evening. We didn't have any problems with sharing, since the clean air bylaw is the reason, plus the park provides the wood. I was shocked (and then happy I hadn't bought any in town) when we realized the wood was brought over each day by the PFOs (Park Facility Operators). The PFOs were friendly, and helped us to avoid an extra car fee but letting us know the other vehicle could just park across the road from the park on the highway. Score. We had a double site, which was super awesome for our needs, but you definitely wouldn't want to be in one if you didn't know the people on the other side. This campground is suitable for camping wusses, since there are showers and real flush toilets available. Otherwise, use the outhouses and the cold water. The water from the taps available around the site is wonderful. There is no need to boil it or to buy water. The park is on the municipal system. Those wanting to go down to the water should realize that the day-use area does get very busy, and seems to be a popular destination for families and gatherings with ankle-biters. Our attempts to find non-tarp covered shelter from the rain at the covered tables were thwarted by a child's birthday party. A sunny day following meant the beach was also packed, and tour groups with kayaks were setting up. There is a nice, short trail through the trees and over a creek to get to the estuary. This area is peaceful, and if you look closely you can see salmon fry seeking shelter in the back eddies of the river. The beach seems to be a favourite for clam diggers, as well. I had a quick chat with a friendly BC Parks ranger on my way out of the day-use area.
