Despite our suite change likely not being the most convenient for the owner Marsha, she never made us feel a bother. Both suites are incredible, it would be really hard to choose which one we preferred. The views from the Sea to Sky are breathtaking, but the space and steam shower of the Sunset are equally enjoyable. Both had propane fire pits outside, and we enjoyed cozying up in the provided robes while looking at the stars. The space was clean, and beds were very cozy. This place is a hidden gem! Marsha was so kind and hospitable, and went above and beyond to make our stay the best as can be. The breakfasts she provided were all SO good! There were no screens on the windows and two of them had been left open. I closed one, but the other was broken and couldn't be closed from the inside. I asked my host for help with that and she said she'd ask her husband to climb up on the boulder outside the window and push it closed. He didn't appear so I hauled myself up onto the boulder and pushed it closed myself. In the master suite you will find a double bed. Not a queen, not a king...a double bed. The bed is not comfortable and the bedding had been washed with one of those smelly soap brands. Overpowering. All the while, the mosquitos drone and whine and occasionally come in for a landing. While there is a hot tub, there is no water in it. There is no TV. There was also no breakfast due to Covid. Apparently Covid allows them to remain open, but doesn't allow for the placement of a continental breakfast in the fridge? Confusing. The armchairs facing out to the magnificent view were filthy and the couch was rock hard. When I called my host and told her we had decided to leave, and why, her reply was "It's unfortunate that you are a poor fit for the cabin". I guess it's my fault then?

Indeed, I am creating their business page on Yelp just to do so (so it must be that good, right?). My girlfriend and I had a fabulous one night stay with our hosts, Margaret and Michael. So many memorable conversations with them both after we arrived and over breakfast the next morning. What lovely and interesting people! You simply must go meet them! :) The house itself completely dazzled me. I walked around slack jawed for the first 15 minutes. I wanted the name of their architect! Such a gorgeous home they've built. So open and full of light! Our room was spotless, modern and beautiful! The grounds themselves are also extensive. It would surprise you. We were free to walk around the property as much as we wanted and we took them up on the offer. They have a stunning flower garden and vegetable garden that wrap around the entire house and Michael has a work "shed" (read: beautifully constructed two-story workshop) back in the woods of their property where he can project in solitude. Oh, and to top it all off, Margaret's breakfast was dynamite! So incredibly delicious, my word! See picture. I am a sucker for a breakfast that appeals to both my savory and sweet palette and Margaret nailed it! Also, speaking of food, Margaret and Michael highly recommended checking out the Laughing Oyster down the road for dinner. Such a good call. My Bed and Breakfast experience is mind-bogglingly vast. I have slept nearly every night of my life…read moreon a bed - at least 96% of all 3am hours have been spent between the sheets - and I often will consume a first meal of the day before the hour of 12am. As for the more traditional concept of a B&B - to wit, paying to spend the night in the home of a stranger - I have only done so once or twice before. That said, it is hard to imagine a more wonderful or welcoming environment than Our Place, as provided by Lewis and Lorraine. I was in Parksville for the wedding of a friend, and my girlfriend looked into possible locations for the night. She settled on Our Place, and it was a very wise decision... nearly as wise as dating me in the first place. Lewis and Lorraine were both gregarious and effervescent, even offering to drive us to the wedding (!!!) when my lady's car gave up the ghost. While we were able to arrange alternate transportation, that spontaneous and generous offer really helps highlight the Our Place experience. We stayed in the 'Jazz Room', a very clean and comfortable space, and lounged around on the chairs outside in the sun. The inclusion of a copy of the board game 'Clue' in the side-cabinet was an especially nice touch. Privacy was ensured by a locking inner door and separate entrance to the guest suites. The only thing that remains to be praised is the breakfast, praise is greatly deserves. Grand Marnier-infused French toast with orange zest, home-made muffins, fresh yoghurt over summer strawberries and a wide selection of juices - along with the stimulating and wide-ranging morning conversation - made the morning meal a gastronomic and intellectual delight. And all this for the very reasonable price of $110/night. We figured that breakfast alone was worth $30-$40, leaving the price of the room per person down to around $35-$40 - numbers that even MC Hammer can touch.

(The sleeper sofa not so much but was ok for small kids. Ours are 3 and 8.) Lots of beach toys for the kids. The hosts made a delicious breakfast and brought it our suite so we could eat in our pj's. So much better than usual B&Bs that you need to get dressed for to eat breakfast. I may need to go back just to get the recipe of those apple pancakes. We stayed here for one night on a trip around the Sunshine Coast but could have easily spent a few nights here. If you need a place to stay in Sechelt and are looking for a quiet and cozy place, this is a great pick.

My son was sick this week so I inquired about the cancellation policy "IF WE DECIDED" that we couldn't go. They advised me of the policy and also mentioned that other couples were interested in the suite for the same weekend. My mom had agreed to babysit if my son was still sick by that time. After they told me the policy I emailed them back IMMEDIATELY and told them that I would be keeping my reservation and I would "See you on the third" They replied "Great see you on the third" Which I understood as an acknowledgement that everyone understood that we were keeping our reservation. An hour and a half later they emailed me to tell me my reservation was cancelled and my deposit refunded. I replied right away and asked "Why did you do that I thought we agreed that I was keeping my reservation? All I did was INQUIRED ABOUT THE POLICY" and they said "ITS ALREADY DONE" I sent two more emails that were never replied to. Sounds to me that one of they other parties that inquired about the date we reserved was more important to them. Did they book additional nights? Did they want the spa package? Whatever your reason for cancelling our two month old ANNIVERSARY reservation one week in advance is abhorrent. I have been to this bed and breakfast before, and even wrote positive reviews on it, which I now regret.

There are a couple of small waterfalls in the lower part which are very soothing and picturesque. The forest is very green and lush and you can see the biodiversity. Moss covered logs. Fern covered ground. Stream and foam by the banks. Tall trees. Spiders and their webs. Slugs. A good place for hikes and to get in tune with nature. No washroom facilities in the lower part. The great outdoors is your washroom.
