Aquarena's pools are clean and very safe with life guards on duty at all times. The change room facilities are also very clean and well maintained and the showers are perfect after a hard swim lesson As they now call me the 'tranfish' I have a lot to live up to and look forward to many more lessons next term. The courts are multi-purpose so games on them alternate throughout the day. The last time I went there was to be acting cheerleader for a group of friends playing 5-a-side soccer. It cost them $70 a season to play and they absolutely loved it. Inside can get pretty loud as lots of games are played on different courts/fields at once. Personally I don't understand how each played knows which ref is blowing their whistle for a foul or penalty - every whistle was super loud! I was rather a jittery cheerleader as a result. The courts are available for hire at $60 an hour, minimum. This seems pretty pricey to me but then again I'm not out hiring courts every weekend so I really have no idea. There is also a bar available for hire that is sometimes open. Wait staff are available for hire if catering for birthday parties or functions. Insportz doesn't cater for 21st birthday celebrations or high school after parties though. I don't know what high schooler would want to host a party on a soccer field but each to their own.. All in all the place is pretty good. It's popular, it's loud and there is plenty of great athletes to watch.

Also, if you belong to a sports team at the uni, they often have relationships with the fitness centre meaning you might be able to get a vastly discounted fee (because you will have already have paid a registration fee with the sports club). There's a café at the entrance that sells a variety of focaccias, salads, lasagna and pies. It's floor to ceiling windows overlook the wave pool, keeping a peaceful (and dry) atmosphere, without losing the feeling of being at the pool. There's also a little canteen inside the pool area that sells your regular fried food, lollies and ice creams. The center also has a gym upstairs (addition costs), two family change rooms, spa & sauna (additional cost), a warm wading pool, wave pool, kids pool, baby pool and outdoor pool. It also offers excellent disability services. Personally I try to only come during the morning, because the afternoon holds a lot of kids classes which take up all lanes except one (which makes it very difficult and squishy for the casuals like me). I also prefer the morning because well...its probably in my mind, but I swear the water is yellower and saltier the later it is in the day. I mean the water isn't crystal clear to begin with (so much chlorine you can only see 5-10m in front of you), but at least it's not murky...yet. If you're grossed out, the outdoor 50m pool has lovely water and you can see over 20m in front of you, but the hours are limited throughout the winter months. I still enjoy coming here, as it feels big and modern, and doesn't have that stuffy feeling that most little places have.

I have access to the spa, sauna, pool, gym equipment, classes (Body Step, Zumba, Body Balance & Yoga are just a few) and regular fitness checks from the personal trainers. I really enjoy logging all my fitness into the website, the more points that I accrue, the closer I hit a milestone. Once you hit a milestone, you will receive a little gift, whether it is a water bottle, towel, swimming cap etc. It's the gyms way of saying 'Good on your hard work! Keep it up!' The gym doesn't get too crowded and there are so many machines you can work on! Good luck to whoever is reading this and get healthy! :)
