I am not from Port Arthur, but when I am in town which is pretty often, I come here to fix my crawfish cravings. --They always have live crawfish even when it's not in season. Their crawfish flavor is cajun flavored, a good change than what I usually eat, garlic butter. The flavors are usually soaked really well into the tails, but on some occasions it could be a miss as well. Overall, its a hit for me most of the time and its better than any other crawfish joints I've tried in PA. It also comes with this mayo concoction they give you, we also request extra seasoning to make it more spicy and flavorful on top. --Hushpuppies are a must for me. --Blackened Flounder w/ assorted veggies is always a good healthier route if you're not into crawfish. read more

Baytown Seafood have been satisfying all of my crawfish cravings for many years now. I was in the mood for crawfish today, so naturally I went to my favorite place. Their restaurant is kind of a hole-in-the-wall type because it's so hidden. It took me a long time to get used to finding the place due to its obscure location. The first thing you're going to noticed when you enter the restaurant is how cliché their theme is. They have a fisherman vibe going on with their pink and blue neon lighting. It makes me feel nostalgic every time I visit. They have fish nets, plastic fish, paddles, and foam life buoys that adorned the restaurant's wall. It was close to empty because it was only a Wednesday night, so we were seated right away. Crawfish isn't the only thing on the menu that was deliciously good. I recommend trying their fried catfish, grilled salmon, and oysters. However, the spotlight is fully focused on their mouth-watering crawfish today. Me and my friend ordered 5 pounds of crawfish, $25.99 (seasonal price), to share between the two of us. I also ordered a side of shrimp fried rice. Our waiter was really tentative, and he was only an arm's reach away anytime we needed something. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering, and I was not happier in my entire life than the moment that the plate of crawfish was set down in front of me. The crawfish platter came with a sliced lemon, their special dipping sauce (spiced mayonnaise), corn, and red potatoes. I didn't waste anytime digging into my steaming platter of food. Even when my fingers were burning, telling me that the food was hot, and that I should wait. The crawfish was mostly average in size. Their shells were hard, an indicator to me, that it was fresh. Plus, I hardly found any small ones in this particular platter since crawfish season is in full swing. The crawfish was so well-seasoned that even after chewing for a few minutes, there would still be spicy flavors remaining on your tastebuds. There was enough spice in the seasoning that you wouldn't be huffing and puffing between each crawfish, but it would leave a temporary burn on your tongue one second and gone the next. Another one of their specialty would be their shrimp fried rice. This isn't your ordinary and greasy Chinese shrimp fried rice. You could tell with the very first bite. There's a cajun twist to fried rice, and it made it all better. Each bite would make me think of the fresh smell of the ocean, and it would bring a smile to my face every time. Overall, if you're looking to try a new seafood place with great services and even greater food. Then, I would recommend you "craw" over to Baytown Seafood. read more

Love the food and what makes it even better is that its about a 5min drive from my house. Large selection of seafood with great taste cooked perfect. Every time we go its never super busy, always clean and staff are very tentative. If you have a craving for good seafood this is the place to go. Definitely recommend stopping by to grab a bite to eat. You have to try the stuffed grilled flounder, crawfish or oysters on a half shell. My family and came for dinner here tonight. My father has been here recently. We walk up and the lighted sign has most of its bulbs out. The inside looks old and has carpet in the restaurant. So much for ambience, I said. My dad replies. "We are not here to eat ambience". Lol. We order boudin balls that were very crispy and had good boudin inside. Then I ordered two lbs boiled crawfish out of season. They were small but peeled easy and were tender and juicy. Then the family split jumbo grilled and jumbo fried shrimp platters. Paying $3.50 for tarter sauce on a take out order is insane, when you dine in it is free and you can eat all you want. I ordered 4 pieces catfish and a 5 pieces catfish. They want to give me 2 packets of tarter sauce an 2 2oz contains for 9 pieces of catfish. Management replied it's our policy. Ask to speak with the owner, her reply (can't give you that information) What a joke this place has become, I've been eating there before this so called management had a job. Think I'll just go there order 9 pieces inside eat 1 piece, fill 1 compartment in the take out box with tarter sauce and let them clean up my table and no tip for the unfortunat waitress/waiter. I'm usually a huge fan of Baytown Seafood in Groves but after last night I'm not so sure. I live outside the city of Nederland so I drive a good bit just to get over to the Groves location. The food is usually so good and worth the drive. I order on the phone at home and go pick it up. Last night I looked in the bag before I left to make sure I had my order. What I didn't do was to look inside the main carton that was supposed to have twelve shrimp, Two fish, and six oysters. I noticed I was missing a salad so I go back in and get that. The girl apologized and was very polite. When I get home , to our dismay, we find six shrimp, two dried up pieces of fish that must have been left over from lunch. The rest was oysters and not even whole ones. It was disappointing to say the least. I guess I will be looking for another seafood place to order from for now. I either didn't notice or it wasn't stated that there was also jalapeno pepper in the wrap rendering it too spicy for me. So, I just took the jalapeno pepper out. The salad is typical iceberg lettuce/tomato variety. Dirty rice .. a little on mushy side. Hush puppies (extra) were absolutely scrumptious. Wait staff friendly, but sometimes hard to find when needing condiments, etc, but then it was a Sunday noonish time. Portions big enough though, I had to take home leftovers. I would likely visit it again and order something different not so overwhelming in flavor by bacon, etc. It's not their doing, it's my not knowing -- the shrimp was great and I'm sure if I order a more traditional shrimp dish I'll be happier. Despite their crawfish being overpriced compared to other places in the area, I am a regular here. The crawfish are never consistent in size but something about the flavor keeps me coming back. I am also a fan of their fried oysters. The fry they use on them compliments the oysters well. Oh, and the grilled stuff flounder is also great! Recently I went there--had a seafood craving. My salad had a huge hair in it. The staff were speechless except to offer me another salad. I always liked their seafood but even after the place has been spruced up---it still sucks. The kitchen staff were loud and acting crazy, the waitresses act like zombies and the décor is deplorable. If it were possible to give less than one star, I would. My daughter cannot eat anything spicy. She ordered a 40.00 plate. On the menu they said 10 boiled shrimp, 1 pound snow crab and one pound king crab. Nothing on the menu about it being spicy. It was so hot I could not eat it and I love hot food. She sent it back and they just rinsed the spice off! It was still hot. The manager finally made it right but by then we were very dissatisfied. I have to add that the rest of what we got was good. This place is not much to look at, and it's not the cleanest place I've been in...but when the food arrives, all is forgiven. Hot, sizzling, slabs of catfish. Golden nuggets of shrimp. Crispy, crunchy french fries. A lot more food than I could eat. An enormous menu selection, all the way to Mexican food and burgers. Every kind of seafood you can imagine. Brought my Dad here for his 81 B-day as he has always loved their fried shrimp. Should have stuck with the fried shrimp because the shrimp cocktail I ordered as an appetizer brought back memories of dead fish at the pier. Unfortunately, I chocked one down before I noticed the smell. They removed the item from our bill but the damage was already done! Stomach cramps and the usual stuff that occurs when you eat rotten seafood!!! We brought the fried food home but later decided to feed it to the dogs instead. $52.00 down the drain (along with some bad product). Today was my first experience with Baytown Seafood. The service was ok. I say this because our waitress was good in the sense that she would check back with us without being annoying. Ok, because it bothered me that I could hear her griping (in the middle of the dinning room) about how much her previous tables had left her very little in tips. My mom and I went for the crawfish because it is decently priced by the pound compared to other places around here. Well, ya get what you pay for. We were very disappointed in the crawfish. They were hard to peel and had no flavor! The crawfish is not boiled with the seasoning; it is sprinkled on top after boiling. Potatoes were not seasoned, as far as the corn, I can't say anything bc it was not served with the meal as advertised. The only thing that made the crawfish ok was the cocktail sauce. I made sure to eat them all so it wasn't a complete waste of $15. I'd like to say I would go back to try other things on the menu but I don't want to take the chance of throwing more money away again. read more

Visit on several occasions ,however the last two occasions were very disappointing . I purchased a whole fried flounder , the fish was not fresh and appeared to be freezer burned. I call the restaurant and notified them if the problem, so they would not sell it to anyone else . I went back the following week and to purchase whole fried catfish and asked was it fresh and was told that it was, only to once again be served a stale freezer burned fish.
