This beautiful restaurant sits right on the Neches River, offering a relaxing and scenic atmosphere. Whether you choose to sit downstairs or upstairs on the patio, you'll enjoy watching boats and ships glide by while sharing great food and even better company. It's the perfect setting to slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment. Our service was absolutely top-tier! Every staff member greeted us with a smile, and despite our party of 40-50 guests, the food came out quickly and efficiently. No one was left waiting, and that kind of service deserves recognition! We kicked things off with a delicious Sampler Platter featuring crispy boudin balls, fried green tomatoes, cheese sticks, and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Everything arrived piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor! For my entrée, I chose the Chargrilled Salmon topped with a rich lemon butter sauce. I swapped the rice for green beans, and it also came with a fresh vegetable medley. The salmon was perfectly cooked--moist, tender, and never dry. Just the way I like it! My husband ordered the Atchafalaya Catfish--blackened catfish fillets topped with crawfish tails and a buttery lemon sauce, served with dirty rice and green beans. He gave it two thumbs up! We've gone here a couple of times and this was the first time where we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcomed by our server named Leah. Didn't really greet us, I asked her about a drink and she instantly came off rude and bothered that I asked her. Only checked on us because I kept on looking around to see where she was so I could ask for the bill. I've worked in the serving industry and understand not everyday is the best but I could clearly see her have a better and brighter tone with the tables next to us and to us it kinda just feel like discriminated. Family dined here after a funeral. Large table near the river on the patio. We were gathered from multiple states to share a special meal. The manager arranged everything for a truly memorable experience. The atmosphere was like a tropical resort. The menu was diverse and especially the seafood section! The bar was well stocked and the drink options were spectacular. Looking out our open patio table provided views of boats, tugs,barges and ships floating past us. Our waitress was very attentive and didn't miss anything we wanted or needed. The food was delicious from appetizers to dessert. Some time ago I was at lunch with a number of people and I ordered last. The people around me all got their food and finished eating by the time my food arrived. I ordered crab cakes, and they were cold by the time they were brought to my table. The server blamed me because I ordered last. When I spoke to the manager, he comped the meal without any further action. I offered to pay anyway but he wouldn't have it. This is the kind of service that makes a customer return in spite of a difficult experience. read more

I recently visited Port Nature's Wheelhouse with my fully trained service animal, and the experience was shocking. Even after calmly explaining that my dog is a service animal--and offering documentation, which is not required--the female manager chased me out of the restaurant. She insisted I could only stay if I disclosed my disability, which is absolutely not her concern and fully violates ADA guidelines. Her behavior was rude, confrontational, and completely unprofessional. After speaking with others in the area, it seems this isn't the first time guests have dealt with her attitude. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and unless management steps in, it's only a matter of time before this leads to serious legal consequences. Guests deserve far better. read more

The atmosphere is hands down amazing! You can sit at the bar if you want, or sit near the river. The place is huge! Our server, Giselle, was very attentive. We started with the crab cakes. They were average. There were 2, so we didn't overeat. I had the stuffed chicken and hubby had the redfish. He was a little disappointed in the green beans (not cooked enough) but said the fish was very good. My chicken was very moist and the asparagus was cooked the way I like it; nice and crispy. Wow! What a great local spot with a great atmosphere! This place has a nice inside and outside bar with both inside and outside dining. The menu has plenty of local options you won't find other places, and everything we had was great. The service was fast and friendly. Anyways, waitress was really nice and checked up on us alot to make sure our food was good and that we had plenty of water. Service was VERY quick, pistolettes were brought out within 10 minutes I think. I ended up ordering the blackened catfish for myself and was able to switch my sides. My cousin got the beef tips and French fries. Everything was delicious. Dare I say the best catfish I've EVER had?! I loved it. Everything we ordered I would most definitely eat again. This was my first time here and I loved the food. I'd go back for sure! I love chicken fried steak so that's what I plan on trying next! Fabulous vibes. The whole place is outdoors with lots of different types of seating areas and themes going on! The pizza was not the best and the fish wasn't great which wouldn't have been an issue, but the prices are a bit high. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the overall experience made up for it. The Banana Fosters Pie definitely makes it worth a 40 minute drive and is the reason i will be returning in the future. The service was also very good and everybody was super kind and attentive! Location and ambiance is great, fun to be right on the water and watch the boats. Lots of seating. However, food is mediocre. I did like my chicken and biscuits but overall, food is overpriced. Kids plate does come in a frisbee that you can keep which is cute. Fried green tomatoes were okay, basically each slice is $2 so definitely not worth it. No salt at the tables, quesadillas didn't come with salsa or anything. Omelette was okay, had to ask for hot sauce. We had ship wrecked and berry me in a river drinks. They were full of flavor and fresh fruit. Their shrimp and grits were to die for! I see why they are the #1 best seller! The girts were polenta grit cakes which at first I thought were corn bread. It was perfect to pair with the sauce and shrimp. Plenty to eat too! We had enough for another meal! Everyone should try the Wheelhouse for the ambience!! It's a great place to hang out and have a drink! The Bloody Mary was pretty good at brunch, came with shrimp, olive, and cheese cube! Brunch menu looked great. Burger was just okay... shrimp Pinot was good--real New Orleans bread with jumbo shrimp--ask for extra tartar sauce or cocktail or whatever you like!! Rolled in at 8pm on a Monday night after a long drive (from Pecos) and in the aftermath of a thunderstorm. Place was bustling! Sat out by the bar at a picnic table overlooking the river. Great view. Hostess and bartender were super friendly and quick to help. Ordered a boat drink (a bit sweet, but what did we expect) and a great hazy DIPA, crab and spinach dip (great, wish there had been more), a "Gulf Classic" with fried shrimp and oysters (hot, crisp and large), shrimp and grits (perfectly done shrimp, grit cakes and sauce yummy), a bayou burger (with crunchy fried crawfish tails on top), and some fried catfish tacos (huge). All the food was quite tasty, good portions and toppings and sauces were fresh and flavorful. No complaints, and came out quickly. Would definitely come again.
