I couldn't ask for better care of a loved one. Because of my previous experience (below) I can't give the hospital 5 stars but the excellence in care he's getting now definitely requires an upgrade from my original 1 star. I would say the nurses in S. Medical at the Obici Hospital were overworked & overwhelmed but they'd have to get off their phones and attend to patients first. I've been in understaffed hospitals before but have never seen a hospital with such lax care and humanity. I was with a patient for over five hours and a nurse came to check in and take vitals once. He needed help with going to the bathroom and their response was he can wait until we are ready. Yes, a few nurses actually said that before turning back to their phones.

I have to say that this is one of the nicer hospitals I've ever been in. They took great care of my dad on every level, from ER to the Cath Lab. The Nurses were extremely attentive to his needs and were very welcoming even when he had a case of the grumpies. I spoke with the floor manager before we left to tell her how phenomenal everyone was. Annnd, by far the best cafeteria food! The little old lady down there made the best sandwiches. Homemade oil and vinegar - she was proud of it and it made the Sammie. They also have a wood fire pizza oven! Crazy! Anyway - overall great experience all around.

If you don't want a job working with the public get a different position. I work with the public and I don't treat my clients like they are not the reason I am getting a check. Cheryl has been not helpful and rude. She needs to stay off the phone. She doesn't have time to be helpful with all her sassiness. I will be leaving as soon as I find a different doctor with a welcome intake department.

I've been seeing the same practitioner for several years. Went for an appointment today, arrived…read moreearly, but the office staff was shorthanded, and it took them several minutes to call me and get me checked in. Just as I paid, someone came out and told the receptionist that "Since he's late he will have to reschedule because Mrs. Jackson has a hospital follow up to go to." The receptionist said "He's not late. I'm short staffed because XXX went to lunch and I had 2 patients to check in. That's not fair to him." Her reply "He will have to reschedule." All this occurred right in front of me with no apology or even acknowledgement of my existence from the other person. The receptionist did apologize and offered to reschedule, which I declined. I told her I'd take my business elsewhere to a doctor who was not too busy to see me. So here's my issues: 1. Its not my fault that a receptionist went to lunch with patients waiting to be checked in. 2. The whole denial of service was based on a lie - that I was late, when I was actually early. 3. That this high priority "hospital follow up" sounded pretty lame right at lunch time. As far as I'm concerned, I was refused service because of the practice's error and 1, probably 2, outright lies. I no longer have confidence in this business' professional services, which directly affects my health. I am moving on to a new Doctor, never to return.

My appointment was for 0800 but I was told to show up at 0730 to complete paperwork. I showed up at 0730 as instructed but all the doors were locked. I walked around the entire block trying to get in; Main, Washington, Saratoga, Market back to Main back Market and back to Saratoga (Oh BTW, you can cut thru Suntrust parking lot vs walking the entire block). Knocked and there was no answer. I finally called and the receptionist basically said "sorry but I'm not at that location so I can't help you. Call back at 0800 and they should pick up." WTF!!! Once I made it inside at 0754, I kept my frustration to myself because that's the last thing someone wants to hear first thing in the a.m. Not to mention, complaining gets you know where in most cases. My appointment was 0800 but I didn't see the doc until almost 0930. In their defense, I did see the nurse and/or med tech twice in between time. Funny thing, after all that, it took all but 10 min to see/speak with the doc. In and out. So basically, I was there for about 2 hours for a 10 min appt. SMH.
