He gave me a bid of 16K sight unseen. We got the work done from a license company for 8K. They came to the house took measurements and actually looked at the work. I can't speak on Iron brothers work quality, but I can speak on the way they handled my work request. I wasn't happy with them. I feel if it was a 100K or better job, they would handle their customer differently. Actually go to the job site and make you feel warm and fuzzy. I just say get 2-3 bids before you sign on the dotted line.

If you decide to go with someone else, you need to pay double for the blueprints/floor plans. This is something a lot of people are getting screwed over. The designers they use are old school and don't have a website or portfolio...if you don't like their plans your SOL! Your better off to have someone else design and then maybe have them build but they add 40%, so be careful! I've heard that several others found out the hard way and wasted so much money on plans that they couldn't afford to use and they weren't what they wanted.

We were recommended to talk to Cornerstone Construction to fix what turned out to be serious problems with the way the work was done. They enlisted the help of an engineer to assess the problems and formulate a design to fix the problems, and then framed the roof in a way which is now very strong (it was in danger of collapsing under one more snow). I was very impressed with the structural work which is not seen as well as the finish work which is seen. Eric and Phil made a difficult process for us go as easy as possible. I will not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone I know who needs work like this done. Both of them showed repeatedly they were doing more than just an excellent home repair and remodel, but also served us in the process. Thank you, Eric, Phil & crew!

When our shower tile gave way and we needed to get it repaired before winter set in, Cornerstone…read morewas the most prompt and helpful contractor we encountered. Most of them didn't even return phone calls for 6 to 8 weeks, but Joe Hopkins and his crew were at our home quickly and gave us a no BS assessment of best and worst case scenarios. They were also 1/3 less than the other bids even for the low-end repair. In order to reduce costs we wanted to reuse our bathtub, shower glass, shower pan, and our original plumbing fixtures. While the "glass guy" said there was only a 20% chance of being able to reuse all the original glass, the carpenters and tile installers managed to restore the original shower dimensions so that all the glass just fit right in. We interacted with all the crew - carpenters, electrician, plumbers, tile installers, drywall god, painter, and the glass installers; they were, to a man, professional and genuinely nice people. At no time did we ever feel we were being snowed, and work progressed steadily. Joe Hopkins showed up frequently to check in on state of affairs and was up to date on the details of the job. Final results left us with a better shower than we had when it was a brand new home. We plan to use Cornerstone again for future projects.

We had a unique accident in which approximately 50' of fencing was destroyed, including a corner…read more We had wanted another contractor to fix the problem, but our insurance company had a relationship with Nordic and asked us to use them for the quote. The insurance company estimated the damage at ~$1000 and we felt it was much more, so we went ahead and had Nordic come out to give a quote. The fence is on a steep, sandy hill, the two sections used different quality materials (one section predated the other), and we have chickens on the property so we had erected a temporary fence. Nordic came out on the day they arranged and had called ahead of time. I walked through the job with their estimator and called out some of the differences (one section had a skirt, another used lapped siding and 4x6 posts); he acknowledged and submitted his quote to the insurance company at over 4x their estimate. Due to their prior relationship, our insurance company accepted the bid and Nordic told us a small job like this could be done in the coming week; a 2-3 day job. On the first day I met the fellas doing the construction and wasn't overly impressed. Just seemed casual and only one guy was on the job. At the end of the day I met up again and they appeared a long way from being done and it was just the one fella remaining (the other had already left). He also indicated they needed a lot more concrete than anticipated due to the soft, sandy soil. But, he was conscientious with the materials they were leaving, the temp fencing was buttoned up, and most of the debris from the damage was removed. Next day they finished the post placement and appeared to leave quite early. I contacted the estimator as he indicated it might be a 2-day job and he texted me back stating they'd be done the next day. It didn't look like it but, I didn't have a lot of options. The third day was like magic: the work was done, the quality exceeded by expectation, and even though I worried they were setting me up for a larger bill, the cost came in exactly on quote. In all, a quality job that came in on budget and, while i was anxious for it to be done for our chickens, it did get done within a week of when they bid the job. I'm quite happy and would have Nordic out again.

Shows up with the consistency of a Swiss watch? Has the highest standards of craftsmanship? Is priced fairly? Yeah, me either - until now. Enter Artur Planeta of Planeta Works. We recently worked with him on a home project that included new flooring, a full kitchen demo and remodel, and redoing our fireplace. He came highly recommended to us by our designer (Andrea with Copper Boom Design) and I am glad we listened. From the moment we met Artur during a project scoping meeting, I noticed his attention to detail and keen eye. He asked thoughtful questions, identified potential risks that would require extra work, and was very thoughtful about his commitments. On the first day of work, Artur showed up at exactly 8am as he had promised and immediately got underway. Without fail, he arrived at the exact time he said he would each day he said he would be on site. He communicated any materials delays, concerns, or risks without hesitation and with appropriate urgency. More than that, he tolerated our questions and concerns throughout with kindness and respect, even the very silly ones. At the end of each day, Artur could be found organizing his tools in one place to keep them out of the way, vacuuming where he had worked to prevent dust and mess, and cleaning up the outside workspaces. It made living at home during this project as tolerable as one could hope for. For as messy as a construction project can be, it says a lot about someone who believes in a continuous clean and neat approach. While Artur did much of the project himself, any time he had helpers or subcontractors onsite (plumbing, electrical, tile etc) , they were just as outstanding as he was - it's clear to me that he has high standards for himself and for others and will not accept any less. I am not someone who is comfortable with people working in his home unsupervised, but I would trust Artur and the people he works with to do anything. His work speaks for itself and pictures do not do it justice - it's even more beautiful in person. We have plans in the next couple of years to redo our bathrooms and he will be our only call. Thank you, Artur, for bringing our dreams to life - and for being just an all around outstanding human - it was a privilege to have you on this project.

We were initially recommended to a few contractors that specialized in restoration from leaks but started to feel uncomfortable with the process and like they were all trying to take advantage of us via the insurance claim. A neighborhood Facebook group pointed us to Chermak with consistent reports of them having great service, but also a fair price and staying on time and on budget. I was quickly connected to Angel the project manager and she was able to come out to our house that week for an inspection. She immediately built trust with us and showed a genuine care for wanting to get us back into our home (we had been out already for 3 months). We trusted our gut and quickly got to work with Angel and Chermak and getting the ball rolling on the scope of work to be done and approved by our insurance company. And to risk the obvious pun here, Angel was an Angel, there's no way this would have gone how it did without her, for all that she manages and does she's very efficient and good at her job and really absorbs a lot of the stress and difficulty that is common to this kind of work. She also was very reasonable with us in not upselling, offering suggestions where things could be easier or money better spent, which helped with our trust. Fast forward to the working starting EARLY (which was a good thing) and not only completing on time but even a week EARLY than what was planned, so exciting for us. Kim from the design team helped us get our plans together for the bathrooms to achieve what we really wanted out of them and set the plans in place. Tyler was our GC for the 8 weeks of restoration and I selfishly don't want to tell everyone how good he is because then everyone will want him. We were concerned about having so many people in our home and around our stuff, but he so quickly made us feel comfortable and was adopted into the family. He also really listened to us and understood our wants, needs and particular requests as the bathrooms were constructed, he knew it was important to us things be done the right way and was willing to take the time to see it through. He's also just an all-around good dude and we miss having him here. I've given many referrals since our job wrapped to other prospective clients for Chermak and we intend to hire them again when it's time to remodel our kitchen. Our job was not without any issues but they were determined to do the right thing and see us be happy with the end result, which is a really great experience in this kind of arrangement. I want to specifically mention the team that worked on the place since I'm so happy with the job. David is a great guy and was easy to work with. However we had several issues:…read more First, he pushed for us to use a white color that my wife didn't love. In retrospect it was to save cash, the buckets of paint have another project name on them. Next, even after a change in scope from two colors down to a single color, the cost was not updated. In retrospect I shouldn't have written the check but even after follow up communication and questions there has been no change. In addition, he and his team replaced a quite a few fascia boards as ours had rotted. David overbought the boards and then left the unused boards in my backyard. Finally, He left early from the project, leaving his team who did not clean up the entire mess. There was also no final project walk through and so I have a couple spots left that were missed.
