I decided to use the builders preferred lender, American Mortgage. Florida Real Estate law is a little different from Georgia Real Estate law and the learning curve, on my part, made the processes a little longer than expected. The Loan Officer I worked with, Chelsey Jennings, was extremely professional and made herself available to answer my questions, day or night, 7 days a week. Ultimately, I got a great interest rate and the my home closed, on time without any last minute surprises. I would highly recommend American Mortgage!

I was referred to this company by a realtor, and was told I would get the lowest price possible…read more Bottom line, they quoted me high rates that weren't even being offered by banks (banks were 2% less than what he was saying). He said it would be thousands of dollars more at closing if I wanted lower rates, and that he would take care of lender fees. I ended up calling 7 different banks and they said they have no clue where his quotes were from, and sent me the actual quotes for that time period (same day as his quotes/ within the same hour and all banks had roughly the same rates, but none were even close to being as high as his). I ended up closing at an extremely low rate, and paying very little at closing. Going with the bank, I saved 2%, $200 monthly payment, close to $10k at closing and $250k over the 30 years on interest. I'm not sure what motivated him to drive up my price, but I will NEVER recommend him to anyone. He acted like he was doing me a favor and helping me out, but after very little research, I see how these companies will attempt to scam people that aren't savvy with the house buying process.

Even through a failed home purchase (issue with seller not the mortgage), Jamie helped us to navigate our way through things and also to get things established for the next house we eventually found and purchased. She answered any and all questions we were sending her and she was able to break down the answers in a way that made perfect sense to us, not being in the mortgage industry. She even watched the rates like a hawk as they fluctuated up and down and up and down and... In both instances, we did the full loan application, and from the initial purchase contract being signed until we were Clear-to-Close, Jamie got the paperwork pushed through FAST -- pretty sure in record time. I don't know what magic she has, but the the speed that she got things done was impressive!! She went above and beyond in every aspect of her job (and even in many aspects which were not really in her job description). But she helped us SO much and made the mortgage side of the home purchase process completely seamless with zero issues, scares, or turbulence through the 6+ month journey of us finding the right home. Even while she was away from the office on vacation or for other reasons, she was still reachable and also gave us contact info for a co-worker to answer any urgent questions we might have had if she couldn't reply quickly. The level of care and professionalism that she showed us is unmatched to any other Mortgage Loan Originator that I have worked with. Jamie was incredible to work with and if you are ever looking for a mortgage (new, re-finance, VA or Conventional, or anything related to mortgages) -- Jamie is the person that you want to work with to get it done. I know that when we need a re-finance or new loan, Jamie is going to be our first call.

She and her team (Kalen and Serena) have all been fantastic to work with. I couldn't ask for better communication. They're available days, nights, and weekends via email, text, and phone. They've treated my incessant questions with pure grace and took care of everything I needed. She walked me through all my options, found me a great rate the same or better than any other company or broker I talked to. She always had a solution when issues popped up, and they even found me a better insurance quote than I had been able to find--by several hundred dollars! (And I was going through multiple independent insurance brokers) That's just one more thing that they go above and beyond on; I never would have expected my mortgage agent to shop for insurance for me! I close in a few short days and they made this entire process easy, ESPECIALLY considering that I requested a date for closing just a little over 3 weeks from when I went under contract. I really can't say enough nice things about Jamie & team.
