It was back to my local 'BC Liquor Store' this morning, for what might be called a sort of pre-Autumn & Thanksgiving catch of some spirit supplies. Unlike last year, I had daughter and her 'wheels' to enable me to catch what I wanted, and then have some quick & easy transport home with the goods this time!! Vodka, Canadian whiskey, dark rum, scotch, and an a bottle of Argentinian 'malbec' wine being featured (I much-enjoy a decent malbec, and could not pass on catching this one for a try). A good mix of spirits to put away in the 'cabinet' for the days ahead. read more

Haven't gone to this location for some time and won't be going back again. The cider selection was horrible with absolutely no good choices. The cashier I had seemed absolutely miserable, no chatter, no asking if I would like a bag for the 4 bottles I had purchased (which you would think would be a no brainer), no smile, no eye contact throughout the entire checkout. I had to ask for a bag and at the end of the transaction and there of course was no have a nice day at the end. She definitely stayed the course at being absolutely useless at any type of customer service throughout the entire experience. Customer service isn't hard but the gal I unfortunately got stuck with had NO CONCEPT of what it meant. The manager of that store should be embarrassed to have someone like that dealing with people. read more

I must say that liquor stores are one of the few things that the government gets right. Parking here is plentiful in the parkade below. It's free too. Yay! The selection here is a bit smaller because of the floor area, but it's still sorted in a logical fashion. I really like how they tell you the unit price ($/mL), making comparison super easy. The staff here were very friendly, and talked to us about completely random things such as bubble tea. The world needs more of these things. read more

This is the new liquor store of the former old one located near the Red Robin on the backside of Lougheed Mall. Located where the new residential buildings have been raised right along North Road, this liquor store is a huge improvement to the former. As the whole line up of government liquor stores has been doing this progressive change to become "signature" stores, most have gone through a renovation, but this one is completely new. And much needed for the area, and because of this store, two old government stores closed down, the one above, and the other one located near Austin and Blue Mountain. They have also upped the selection of wines, and now are more of less the same with their other stores. Before, I remember you needed to go to certain stores to get more premium wines, now the selection luckily has grown. read more

How can one not swing by after a long day at work to pick up a bottle of wine and enjoy it with some great cheese when she gets home. There is a great selection of wines, beers and hard liquor. Everything you you would want from a liquor store at a very convenient location. What is great about this new location is that you also have the grocery store, Smart Foods, the drugs store, Shoppers Drug Mart and the video store, Rogers Video just a few steps away. How could you NOT like a liquor store, like seriously. This one especially is great because of their staffs. I was looking into buying some wine, different types for a tasting event and asked for some advice, the woman was so friendly and took time to show and explain everything. I sure did learn a lot about wine! She also explained all the champagnes and sparkling wines. The selection at this store is a bit better than smaller BC Liquors, lots of stuff and they aren't missing much, beers, spirits they pretty much have it all. I just wish they had smaller or single servings of wine and champagne and sparkling because it's a drag to have to yank the cork out of a bottle that will go bad if not fully consumed, my pockets are crying. Lots of freebies! Look for the signs and bottles, you can get free hats and shirts and loads of other stuff. Even whitecaps gear? Oh count me in! read more

As the local outlets of my favourite government agency go, this BC Liquor Store is my favourite. It's big and new and shiny, plus it's open til 11 on weekends and is open on Sundays. It's also my nearest Signature Store, which means an extended selection of wines, including the higher-end stuff. A hop across the way from the the grocery store, this particular liquor store is about as close as you will get in these parts to being able to buy a bottle of something to go with your dinner ingredients without having to make two separate stops. Which is a good thing, because the underground parking in the complex where the store is located is atrocious, full of small, sharp speedbumps, tight turns, and tiny stalls wedged in amongst big concrete pillars. (Park on the street out front if at all possible.) Being able to get food and booze in one stop almost makes up for that. I wish I could give it five stars, and if the BC Liquor Distribution Board ever lowers its totally ridiculous markups so that I don't cry every time I see the prices for the same wines in Washington state stores, maybe I will. read more

A great place to buy, you guessed it, Liquor! I am so happy the BC Liquor store has moved here from the old location near Red Robin. It's now more accessible and the selection has expanded with the addition of the signature name. With this new location you are right in walking distance to Price Smart foods, a perfect complement. Pick up your cheese first and then head right on over to get a wine to match. I don't actually drink all that much but thanks to this store I think I should drink a lot more. read more

Since writing my review of this BC Liquor location, it has actually moved and turned into a Signature BC Liquor! Time for a refresh! So this sparkling location has been open about a year (moved in close proximity to my last review). This location is massive. Exploring all the wine can almost be tedious the selection is so massive and just so darn tempting... by the time I try everything I will be a certified wineo! They also have a large selection of beers, I was thrilled to find gluten free beer here (which is not extremely good but for a beer loving gluten bigot this is huge). Oh, and spirits, there are spirits galore. A few of my favorite finds: - Crystal Head vodka. It's a Dan Ackroyd thing. The bottle is a skull. So effin cool. Now, vodka is a big grey area for me (ie - may be glutenized), so my boyfriend asked the staff what its made of. They have a lot of insight, but weren't 100% sure and did differ us to contact the company. Result - it's peach based and I'm good to go! - Like 10 different fantastic Italian pinot grigos. - Now, I will keep my surname secret - BUT - I found limited release bottles of wine from New Zealand, and the label is my surname! My surname is uncommon and definately not one you would typically find on a bottle of wine. It was a bit dear but I got a bottle for myself and a bottle for my mom (who freaked, opened immediately, and she and my daddy stocked up with 2 bottles of the white and 2 bottles of the red). The staff here is always really friendly, never flinches when I buy copious amounts of alcohol (I like to stock up haha!), and knowledgable about the products. This store gets five boozy stars! read more

I like that this Signature store is 2 blocks from home. I can stagger in and stagger home. They have an excellent selection which is also well laid out. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Being located next to a grocery store works really well here. There's plenty of parking in the parkade below. read more

I would love to see a better local selection of beer and wine. The selection of higher-end booze is better.
