Wow! This is my first time visiting this liquor store and I was fooled by the outside. This place looks small from the outside but once you step in, it's huge with a large selection of everything. It is spacious with lots of additional areas. Its also great because theres a few cashiers so wait time is short. This is not the first time I have been denied entry to this store with my service dog. This time the security guard actually physically barred me from entering. She was wearing her service vest and I stated she was my service animal and legally allowed into all places with me as she guides and aids me. I have contacted the manager many times and nothing seems to change l. It's disgusting to be treated like this in public and very humiliating and upsetting. I will never give this place any business again. People need to understand that not all disabilities are visible and no one ever pretends to be disabled as it's not in any way fun! Joined a friend for a fantastic event here last night : World Whisky Cocktail Seminar. Hosted by Matt Jones and held at Legacy Liquor, I had a great evening. We were seated at a long table towards the back of the store where we tried six different cocktails during the evening. Mr. Jones was here from out of town, a guest speaker/bartender if you will, and in concert with Legacy staff they put on a tremendous experience. Matt had a huge breadth of knowledge as an award winning bartender, and spoke at length about everything from the origins of the different whiskey types and brands to various cocktails, how to craft perfect ice cubes and some of the accessories used in bartending. Literally - this was not a dry lecture - it was engaging and incredibly interesting! The venue is really spacious - surprisingly so for the area. The staff making and serving the drinks were professional and courteous throughout. Parking can be a bit challenging but I would recommend looking either on west 2nd or slightly further south. Unmetered spots are still around if you look for them. Legacy is also transit accessible - only about a ten minute walk from the Olympic Village skytrain. I would happily return here for another one of their events, or to get a recommendation for something special for a party or a gift! Now this is a fancy liquor store! Legacy Liquor Store holds a lot of tasting events so be sure to check their calendar. Some are free and some are ticketed events with a bit of food. When the husband and I decided to drop in, they were having a Wiser's Tasting. They let us try their regular bottle and special blend (surprisingly good). This store is quite big and you can find the most obscuer brands of beer here. I even found my favorite beer from Belgium, Satan Red. Happy = Me. read more

This is our new favorite alcohol/liquor store in Vancouver. Oh, how I love this store! There are so many reasons why this store stands head and shoulders above the others: -terrific, large, spacious space. Think industrial warehouse meets trendy wine shop. You get the picture. There's a ton of space to wander and walk around, and even when there are lots of people in the store, it still doesn't feel crowded. -humongous selection of of wines and beers and hard spirits, as well as wine-oriented accessories and gift items. -well-designated areas for the various spirits, with clear signage, too. -loyalty program. Each dollar spent is a point. After "x" amount of points, you get a discount. Hey, it adds up. -tons and tons of tastings and events every month. I took the flyer for their March events and there's more than one per day! Pretty amazing. -and here's the best part: the staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and they know their product lines and can help with any question you might have. My husband and I were blown away by this store. They falsely advertise the products they sell. They advertised "Matsui Hakuto Premium Gin" (and show a picture of it on their website when you purchase it) but shipped me five bottles of the standard, lesser valued Matsui gin -- yet still charged me the price for the premium gin. When I called to complain they first didn't believe me, and told me I was wrong. Then they told me that they don't even have the premium gin in stock (which is probably why they tried to underhandedly ship me the lesser quality gin when they charged me for the premium gin). It wasn't until I told them that their website says I bought the premium gin, that it shows a bottle of the premium gin, and that I have screenshots of this that they changed their tune. They reluctantly confirmed that I was correct. From that point on I was annoying for complaining that they charged me for premium Matsui gin but sent me the standard, cheaper Matsui gin. On the bright side, the employee told me that at least my house didn't burn down. What terrible customer service! read more

The Mercedes of liquor stores--the best ever. Walking here felt like stepping into a Whistler hotel lobby entrance, with the mahagony wood and plants, and high ceilings. My favourite section here is the Remy Martin display case: classy, elegant with lounge seating too. Not sure if this is actually a place to have drinks, as it's right in front of their cigar lounge! How elegant is that? And the tasting room in the back--their communal table will put some restaurants into shame. Looking forward to an event here one day. read more

This place is humongous and has the best liquor/accompaniment selection in town. Wow! Have passed by Legacy Liquor Store over the last couple years, but always neglected to go inside, thinking it was a tiny little beer/wine store, as most are. Boy, was I mistaken. Legacy Liquor Store is a giant and I'm willing to bet they can fully service the ingredients for your dream bar at home. There's all kinds of products here: beer (microbrews, imports, limited runs...), wine, liquor, liqueur, cocktail mixers, pre-mixed cocktails, cigarettes, cigars, gift accessories, drinking accessories, pairings... the list goes on. The store is also very well laid out to take the browsing customer on a journey, but handily leaves customer with a feeling of convenience and intrigue (e.g. "I came to buy spirits/wine for the house party, here they are conveniently at the front" and "boy does Legacy carry a wide range of products!"). To be fair, I'm not sure at all what the prices are (I was in awe at the selection and store layout) so I can't comment there, but the store is worth a visit. read more

There is a lot to be said about this place. It is huge relative to any other private liquor store that I've walked into. I spent nearly an hour in this place looking at wine, and whiskey of all origins from American, Irish, and Scottish. I like my whiskey, wine, and spirits. Now get this!!! They even have the FLAVOURED SAKE that I was looking for. NOBODY in BC has it. I know because I phoned the BC liquor board asking for it, and they didn't know what I was talking about. It's always a treat to stop in at Legacy! They carry a great selection of wines and scotch, many of which are not sold in government liquor stores. The prices are pretty decent as well. What really makes Legacy great is the excellent customer service. All of the staff are knowledgeable, provide great recommendations and can help you find things. If you're looking for something imported, don't worry they have that too. If they don't have something that you want, they'll order it to the store for you so you can pick it up next time. The layout of the store reminds me of a large, well-organized grocery store. Kind of like an adult playground. In addition to liquor, they also carry gifts, gift bags, mixers/chase, cigars and more. I normally love coming here, but yesterday went in with my mom and the guy with a ponytail who works in the beer section gave us attitude because my mom's first language is not English and she misheard him when talking at the checkout line. I had forgotten about it when my boyfriend mentioned he also got bad service from someone at this store the same day (it was thanksgiving weekend and we had both visited the Legacy store separately as we live nearby). I asked if it was the guy with a ponytail, and my boyfriend confirmed yes-- he also got some sarcastic comments from him. Seems like the ponytail guy is a bit of a douchebag and I'd really prefer the usual nice folks working at this store. read more

Can I just live here? I have at the very least found my new temple of worship. Upon entry I think I could feel my pupils dilate and dopamine rush through my system, and suddenly I was floating blissfully through a world of wine and liquor as smiling faces greeted me and bottles of all colours sparkled before me on endless shelves reaching as far as my eyes could see. Leather chairs complemented the whiskey area, and a huge table was set up within a wine corridor with a woman leisurely sipping some sort of cream liqueur on one end. I think after about 20 min of staring all dopey-eyed at the selection of gins and absinthe my BF came up behind me telling me they do tastings as well. One of the liquor saints who works there began to tell me all about the events and it almost brought tears to my eyes, it all sounded so lovely. After humming and resisting filling up an entire cart like someone's trophy wife with a 40 year age gap on their wedding night, I finally decided we need to try cake flavored vodka. (How seriously could I come to any other conclusion? Cake vodka. Why not?) Not wanting to leave, but beginning to feel like a weirdo for staying so long, I took my blue bottle to the cash register when I was stopped. "Would you like to try it first?" So, yes - they let me TRY THE VODKA before buying it. Like we're not in East Van, like we're real people, like we're customers, they let us try it before buying. A part of me was just thinking that this is what all liquor stores should be like. But that's the difference. It caters to people like us who love and appreciate alcohol fully. Not just to pick up a mickey for the weekend, but to really enjoy our vice from start to finish (welll, maybe not always finish....) Best liquor store ever. read more

Good wine selection, fantastic beer and spirit choices, and the best sake collection I've seen on this side of the Pacific (to be honest, though, it's not as if I have looked all that thoroughly). My only beef with Legacy is that their markups are crazy inconsistent. A large percentage of their products are not listed with the BCLB... I am comfortable with paying markups on products I wouldn't otherwise be able to get at all, that is the cost of selection. However, there have been a few occasions that I have bought something at Legacy only to stumble across it later at the BCLB and see that I was gouged with a 30% mark up. But then some items are the same price as the BCLB listing or marked up only modestly. It makes me feel like I have to go in with my research done and makes me suspicious of ALL their pricing. For example: RON ZACAPA 23 YEAR OLD RUM Legacy - $100.95 BCLB - $79.99 26.25% markup EAGLE RARE SINGLE BARREL BOURBON Legacy - $82.20 BCLB - $59.99 37% markup! KNOB CREEK 9 YO SINGLE BARREL Legacy - $73.95 BCLB - $58.95 25.25% mark up Much of their selection is marked up reasonably, but these are examples that I have managed to stumble upon just over a couple of visits. I'm sure that there are many more. I know that I'm splitting hairs, not everything is priced so outrageously, but knowing that there's a chance of the bottle that I am eyeing may not be worth close to what they are asking for it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's not as if they pay the full BCLB price when they purchase their products (I'm not sure of the discount, I know it's not much, but still), so their profit is even higher than the markup percentage. We had a bad experience here in September of 2016. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the way we were treated by a cashier named "Levi" to Manager, and thought Management would handle the situation and re-train Levi so she never provided rude service to other customers again. At that point we had accrued hundreds of dollars in reward credit (that gives you an idea of how much we had spent there before the altercation), and decided to only shop there since to use the rewards we were entitled to. Fast forward a year and a half - we were at the cashier and found out that that Legacy Liquor Store had written negative things about us on our profile - all because of that altercation that occurred almost two years ago. That tells me Management was on Levi's side; and not ours. We were prepared "let it go", but since we found out they certainly have not, we have decided to speak out, out of principle. We, the customers, should not be blamed for bad service and rude treatment by their employee, Levi. So here it is: We were purchasing a bottle of wine and some beer from Legacy Liquor store one evening after work in September 2016. We went to the check out to pay. The cashier, Levi, was not friendly and was very curt in her mannerisms. I suppose it is bad customer service but not a crime to be unfriendly. She asks for our phone number and begins the transaction. Then, in an authoritative tone, demanded ID from both of us. She's rude at this point but we start digging through our pockets and bags to get the ID for her. We find our drivers licenses and give them to her for inspection. She then throws them down on the counter, and barks at me: "I said, I need two pieces." (She never did). At this point, we are annoyed. We do not enjoy being treated like criminals, nor being barked at, from a business that we are supporting through our purchases. I was in shock and didn't really know what to say. My boyfriend saw how badly I was being treated and stood up for me - he said to her "you don't need to speak to her like that - you can ask nicely". Levi did not like being talked back to. She aggressively retorted with "I can't help it if SHE wasn't listening" (and points her finger in my face). I felt angry and wronged, and just didn't know what to do or say. It felt like injustice. We tried to tell her that she could be polite and get the same outcome, but she wouldn't hear us. She just kept cutting us off and tried to tell us to get out of the store. Unbelievable. We then spoke to the manager, a short haired middle aged woman who didn't seem particularly empathetic with the way we had just been treated. She seemed like she was more concerned about "being done with work" than how her customers were being treated. She said she would "speak to Levi" but clearly, since we have nasty comments on our profile two years later, she clearly did not handle the situation at all. So, let me be clear - this was not about the ID. This was about being barked at, accused, and mistreated by Levi, a cashier with a power-tripping agenda the size of the sun. It left a bad taste in our mouths. The fact that we are STILL considered "at fault" to this day make us uncomfortable. There are other local, privately owned liquor stores we would much rather support - businesses that treat their customers with decency and respect. Where is Levi now? I suspect her antics have gotten her fired since that one evening in 2016. But, who knows. We will definitely not return to find out. read more

No trip around the False Creek area is worth while if you don't stop at Legacy Liquor Store. It's the biggest privately owned liquor store in Canada and has a fantastic selection of craft beer, specialty wines and spirits. If are in a rush to pick up something on the go, however, this may not be the place for you. Their selection does not make it easy on the consumer. Often I walk in planning on just making a quick purchase and end up spending 20 minutes trying to decide on what to get. But if you have the time to make such wonderful decisions I couldn't direct you to a better place! The store even has it's own customer loyalty plan where you can earn points towards store credit. On top of that it also accepts CAMRA memberships, which gives you 10% off of your purchase! your losing money going anywhere else. read more

This is the only liquor store in Vancouver that I go to for specialized beer, wines and spirits. They're able to order what you're looking for if they don't already have it. They also have tastings fairly often, and if they don't, they have a few bottles open at their bar so you can sample before you buy a product. read more

Wow. Now I wish I lived in the Olympic Village. This massive liquor store carries everything and anything liquor. Their selection of Giffard products makes me want to buy every flavour and just stock it in the bar. Wide varieties of everything, even rare brands. Wine selection is also extensive, wall after wall of everything wine. Tastings held often, the day we were there we were able to try some sherry. This store is actually a huge selling point for anyone thinking to move to this neighbourhood - you'll never be at loss to get the party started, that's for sure! They have the most extensive collection of just about anything alcohol I've ever seen.. Rather than always complain about the rain, people really just need to drink more. It was like Costco tastings for alcoholics. We flowed from Italian wines to Main St Brewing and then a collection of fine whiskeys for dessert. I struggled to cut myself off. Selection is vast and you'll see a lot of cash spent. Fancy! Seriously gorgeous liquor store, with lots of space, helpful staff, and an incredible selection. I came in looking for a bottle of red as a gift for someone. The one I had in mind I could not find, despite the website saying it was in stock (note - apparently the website does not update their stock numbers properly, so call ahead if you want something in particular). Despite not having the bottle I wanted, a helpful woman was able to find me a bottle that was similar, in the price range I requested, and also helped me find an additional bottle of something drinkable for that evening that would please the palate of my host. I like wine, I know a few things about it, but my general opinion on wines comes down to "I like this. I don't like this." Having someone help choose a wine for someone more picky was great. I browsed around the shop a bit with my two bottles in hand. The whiskey room is pretty amazing. The wine bar at the back had tastings of three different Italian wines happening (I liked them. They were wines I could not pronounce. Except pinot grigio. I know that one.). The beer selection is also pretty great, with a good variety of craft brews from the US. Be warned, the prices are steep, my friends. I was wowed by the crazy selection of gins sitting in the middle of the floor when I walked in. They had tiny batch, craft distilled gins from the San Juan Islands, Seattle, and other places. Super cool. Expensive, but very cool. The same was true for the other spirits in the store, but I refrained from looking, knowing if I found the bourbon I was going to be spending more than I wanted. I wanted to pair a cigar with the wine I had bought as a gift. They have a cigar room through the whiskey room, and I asked an employee for help. Sadly, he didn't know anything about cigar pairing, but a nice man who was shopping offered to help. Off I went with cigar in hand. At the till, the nice people rang me through, and since Robin had mentioned gift wrapping I inquired about getting the gift bottle wrapped. Apparently it was a Christmas time deal, but they went and found some wrapping for me and did up the bottle all pretty-like anyhow. Awesome! That was very nice of them and they totally had no obligation to do so. It's a bit of a splurge, but a good place to go if you are looking for wines that are hard to find (they stock Orofino.... oh yes!), spirits from small distilleries, and craft beers and ciders. This is 'the' go-to liquor store in town! Looking for the next craft beer you're going to fall in love with? They'll have it here. Need to look for a rare spirit to mix a certain drink with? You'll find it here. Looking for a huge selection of old whiskey's? They'll most likely have it here. Need some help on finding a nice bottle of red with that steak for dinner? You'll find advice here. I absolutely love this place. There isn't another liquor store in town, including any BCL Signature branch that has the variety of liquids as Legacy. I stumbled into here last summer when I read a post on top 5 places in Vancouver to buy craft beer and ever since that hot summer day, I've been trying to find every excuse I can to visit Legacy time and time again. They have never disappointed me when I'm looking for a certain specific brand of spirit for my cocktails and they have also never disappointed me when I need to stock up my fridge with a couple craft beers. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely approachable. Each one is willing to give you they're personal opinion on what they like and will help you find something that will suit your taste. I could not emphasize how big their selection is of literally everyone. Visit this liquor store once and I swear that you won't find another place like it. read more

Legacy Liquor Store is hands down, the best liquor store in all of Vancouver. They have a massive selection of every type of liquor you can possibly imagine. Their selection of wine is extensive, as is their spirits. I love how they have a built in cigar and tobacco humidor right beside the whiskey area. They have a loyalty program where you get money off your alcohol after a certain spending amount, so it makes it an attractive place to go if you're in the area. Their prices, however, like other private liquor stores are generally slightly more expensive than BC Liquor, but I feel the convenience of going to that location (if you're in the area), the friendly staff, free alcohol tastings, and extensive product line make it justified. read more

FOUR varieties of Chartreuse? I'm sold. Legacy Liquor claims to be the largest privately-owned liquor store in the province, and I don't doubt it. It will surely be well-used by residents of the Olympic Village, but should also be a destination store for those throughout Metro Vancouver wishing to stock their bars or cellars with more obscure spirits. On the beer front, their selection is extensive, easily rivaling the BC Signature Liquor store on Cambie. As I'm not a wine lover, I can't comment on that section, though it looks impressive. Prices for spirits aren't outrageous, and seem to be only slightly higher than the BC Liquor store. On the downside, the website catalogue has a very poor search function, so it is hard to get a wider grasp on what they have without a call or visit. A search for "Pimm's", for example, turned up 5 pages of results - none of them Pimm's. A search for Chartreuse had similar results - 5 pages, none of them Chartreuse. This despite the fact that Legacy stocks both Chartreuse and Pimm's. I hope this will be remedied in time, as it would be useful for price comparison with BC Liquor, who have a fantastic search function. read more
