Great. There's quite the variety of beer here, both local and from afar. You can also buy wine, liqueur and other types of alcohol. Overall, I've been impressed with the wide selection of beer and local wines. I try to get different breweries individual cans as it's a great way to try new beer. I am happy to see that this is one of the few places in Vancouver that carries Mikkeller beer. It's just pricey!! But sometimes it's just worth it to indulge. Having been introduced to Mikkeller while in Denmark & Iceland, I've never forgotten this great beer company. Their innovative beer stays on the palate. I think more of Vancouver needs to broaden their horizons and let these masters of beer in. So, thank you Brewery Creek for carrying some innovative products. read more

I like this liquor store but they recently added a tip prompt to the card machine where you need to select a preset $ amount or "no tip" before you can pay and leave. Sorry but when did scanning a few bottles or cans entitle you to a tip? I get that any job where you have to deal with the public can be hard, but chatting with coworkers and scanning booze isn't exactly the same as waiting tables or delivering food. I have consistently had a bad experience over the past 2-3 months, particularly with the newer cashiers on a power trip. One cashier in particular has made a big fuss of questioning my ID's validity, implying I look different from my photo, and looking questioningly at my face. For what it's worth, I am well over 19 years old. When I called her out on her behaviour, she replied in a sarcastic and demeaning tone. I will note that I am a woman of colour, and my white male partner was treated far differently with more respect from the staff. I'm a neighbourhood local and have been a regular for years. I usually have had a wonderful experience with the great selection of beer and friendly, knowledgeable staff. However, I will not be bringing my business to this cohort of potentially racist staff again. Probably deserves more of a three and a half, but I'm rounding down today. I love that this place carries imho the only good gluten free beer around- Groundbreaker from Portland. They also have an extensive collection of craft beer and a pretty decent wine selection as well as a mead selection...yes, you read that correctly. It is a bit pricey compared to government liquor stores, but really it loses stars for their customer service. Yes, they are very knowledgeable, but I am so over the "Main Street" customer service that has become the norm in this neighbourhood. This place is just straight up racist. Boycott the $hit out of them. For some reason only four people are allowed in at one time, and they have some unannounced traffic light system to tell you when you can go in. I went in with a white friend and was rudely told to stand outside while my friend went in. When I eventually got let in, there were four people inside and as we were trying to pay for our one bottle of wine I was again rudely told to leave (so that they could let more people I ). we would have been out of there in 20 seconds and suddenly they needed me to wait outside while my white friend paid so that they could let TWO people in, which by the way would have made five. As I left, they let both of them in. To the lady who thought her authority was more importany than her boss' money, I hope you learn to treat people with a bit more respect....and I also hope your boss reads this, watches the video and fires your ass. Just to add the full story to this, I called her out for being rude to me and she then refused to sell us the bottle of wine. I left and she maintained her refusal to my friend. For anyone who reads this, just so no one thinks this is an over sensitive brown person jumping to conclusions, my white friend spent the rest of the evening apologizing profusely for this incident, while I shrugged it off. read more

Clearly a great champion of the beer lover, in a funky, cool neighborhood south of downtown Vancouver. It looks like there's plenty of good food nearby, and there's certainly good coffee. There are antique stores on the same strip, and you could easily spend a morning strolling the area. If there's a beer lover or cocktail lover in your traveling party, please plan to make time for this shop. It's kind of a regular liquor store with the prefab shelves, plenty of coolers, rails diving entrance and exit. You don't realize right away how specialized the inventory is. The staff are friendly, but I didn't need to pepper them with too many questions, so I can't comment on their level of devotion to industry knowledge or anything. There are probably a dozen shelf blocks given to wine and spirits, probably half a dozen coolers given to chilled wines. A couple coolers given to ciders and other fruity drinks. Upstairs is the beer room, with three coolers full of west coast Canadian and American offerings. Around the corner are three more full of industrial lagers. There are a couple more coolers with foreign and more obscure/less-local domestics, and three shelves full of a variety of Belgians, along with many Cantillons and Mikkellers, some fairly obscure. A really nice lineup, though they could probably double it if they wanted to sell every conceivable beer available in BC--not that they need to, by any means. I walked out with a couple Mikkellers, a couple Cantillons, a few intriguing Canadian ales, and a bottle of Rum Runner from Sea Cider--*yeah*! I was secretly hoping for some Raven Ridge Fuji, and, alas, did not find any anywhere in the tiny handful of places I went in the city. Might be cidery-only, for all I know. These guys gave me a beautiful case of treats to bring home to crack and reminisce about BC over. I'll definitely be back. read more

Cool little neighbourhood liqour store on Main St. They've got a great selection of local and import beers, wines, and spirits. It is a bit pricier than a BCL and other liiqour stores, but in this area, there really aren't that many liqour stores. Which is surprising for how busy Main St. is. If you are a big beer lover, then you should definitely check this store out because they have plenty of local crafts to choose from. Their staff are also really friendly and make awesome suggestions to what you should get if you are undecided. I probably wouldn't make this my go-to liqour store, only because it is a bit pricy, but if I was in a rush or in the area, I definitely wouldn't mind popping in to pick up a bottle or case of alchy. read more

Nightmare of a Liquor Store. This is my 99th choice of cold beer stores in the area and for the 2nd time shopping there I had hands down the worst customer experience in my life. First off. Prices are Robbery. That's the obvious about the place. Next up my 2 lovely experiences: 1st Visit about 3-4 months ago: I went in there I was asked to leave because I was shopping too slowly and asked me to leave. The 250SQ/FT store house's 6 of the most unfriendly, standoffish, rude staff I have ever came across in my 35 years on this planet. I should have stayed away. 2nd Visit a few weeks ago: My girlfriend and I were asked to leave because we weren't allowed to shop together. An understandable rule during Covid but we were not told this rule on the way in. After inside I reached to grab a couple Tall Icy Boys (Raspberry Wheats from Phillips) with my girlfriend browsing at a nearby cooler, when Emma/Anna came up with arms crossed stating "If you don't want to follow the rules you will be asked to leave" I then asked what are the rules? We were never told any? She then rudely explained a confusing bunch of words with the basis meaning "No shopping in pairs unless you are paying separately" I replied "We aren't shopping together, my girlfriend doesn't drink beer. I'm just buying 2 tall cans for myself." The next words out of the employees mouth. "Actuallyyyyyyyyy, you both can just leave now" I put down the beers back and walked out of this store never to return again. After reading the stores reviews (over the past few years) these similar situations have happened to 100's of other customers and couples. I'm very surprised they haven't had BC1 News knocking at their door. Side note, the leather jacket door guy smelled of booze when he let us in together. Bandana face mask and all.. It was like the employees get a kick out of kicking normal people out of there store (No pun intended) Management hired a winning bunch here. Bought a bottle of wine here. Took the foil off a week later and saw that it was corked. EXTREMELY corked. Wasn't the first time I'd bought corked wine from this place, but it was the first time I'd bothered to return it (the other times were post-opening, versus the moldy zombie cork I didn't even bother to touch this time). Took it back and was told they'd take care of it immediately. That is, until I was asked for a receipt. After a week, it wasn't exactly something I recalled ever having BUT I did have proof of the credit card transaction, right there on my phone. They didn't even want to look at it. Talked to the manager, and the best he could offer me was his "personal discount" on another bottle of wine. Seriously?! Word to the wise: if you get wine from this place, get them to tape the receipt to the bottle. Keep the receipt on that thing until such time as you open it. Lock that thing in a safe. Laminate it to your stomach. Don't lose it! Nobody keeps their liquor store receipts, but at Brewery Creek you absolutely have to! Modern-day apps and POS systems be damned. All the financial data in the world won't prove to them that you acquired this toxic sludge from their store. It has to be paper. Forget that you've been a loyal customer for over a decade and easily spend in excess of $7000 a year at their store. They'll screw you with a smile, and leave you feeling like you've just been implicated in an Ocean's Eleven-style vinegar-for-wine caper. $7000 a year, Brewery Creek. And you just blew it for $18. I'll still buy beer from you, though. It's the only reason I gave you two stars. PS: Seriously?! read more

While I do agree with most of the reviews here with regards to the selection of craft spirits, however there is one glowing factor here. This glow is not in the positive, it's actually quite negative. This glow shows all the dirt that is their customer service. They do have a select few good people on staff here but once you get to the counter it's like you've stepped into a different store because the mood suddenly changes from a friendly face to a glowering one. Asking a question is met with a sarcastic tone or couldn't be bothered to speak to answer your question or acknowledge your presents. You can have the greatest selection of items on shelf but if your customer service and attitude suck, customers are less likely to come back nor are they likely to recommend the store to others... a great lesson here would be to learn the term "word of mouth". When it comes to customer service "word of mouth" is a very powerful thing, it can make you or break you. read more

This place is like the Whole Foods of liquor stores - sure, it's expensive but it's open late, the parking is free and I can't get enough of wandering around the place checking out the "organic, craft" whatnots. I go to Brewery Creek for the staff and the selection. The management and staff at Brewery Creek clearly care about good liquor and beer, and give a thoughtful nod to wine as well. I don't think I've ever purchased liquor here without having a conversation with staff about whatever I'm buying - either at the counter while I'm making the purchase it, or while making my selection. They just like to talk about why what I am buying is good, or recommend alternatives, which enhances not only the buying experience, but the sipping experience later as well. And an informed consumer can become a connoisseur. The liquor selection is standard liquor store, but spotted with little extras to keep things interesting. I found a bottle of The Kraken dark rum here after looking for months around town - even the Cambie BC Liquor store didn't carry it. And the beer selection superior to just about everywhere for domestics, and competitive with the signature BC Liquor stores for imports. Be sure to ask a staff member for recommendations. On the downside, they can't compete with BC Liquor Store prices, with a premium of about 10%. But they're also open until 11pm, so 10% may be a completely reasonable surcharge if you are looking for a great selection of beer between parties. read more

Look, it's a liquor store. There will be no poetic waxing and waning over the vast number of reds they have in stock (but there are hundreds, I'm sure), there will be no run-on sentences that gasp for air as they profess undying love for the knowledge of the staff (though they do know what they're talking about), there will be no unnecessary meandering through literary prose as I lay out the facts of this fine establishment. It is just that: a fine liquor-selling establishment that stocks plenty of good reds, a whack of pretty decent cold whites and a ridiculous craft beer selection -- all within a reasonable price-range. Brewery Creek is the best liquor store around. Well at least for beer selection, not sure about the rest, as I mostly drink craft beer and rarely drink wine or spirits. It seems in BC our beer selection is lacking. If you look at most cold beer and wine stores they carry the large macrobrews and a couple selections from some of the larger microbrews, but that about it. Actually if you go across the line, you will notice that every corner store actually has better selection. Well Brewery Creek is quite different, when I go their I feel like a kid in a candy store. I can easily take 45 minutes making my decision. Which is good, because it makes my 45 minute drive in from Surrey feel well worth it. Great store. read more

I was tempted to give 5, but held off because of the price point. But they get top marks for selection! I used to live near this place when it was still just the tiny beer store. Now that they have expanded they have so much more to offer. Why do I like this place so much? In no particular order: 1. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Looking for something in particular? They will help you find it and if they don't have it will find out if they can get it. 2. There used to be a friendly dog that was there (any business with a resident pet makes me happy) - haven't been in a while, so not sure if the dog is still around, but they keep treats at the counter for any visiting 4-legged customers. 3. They carry gluten-free beers which are labelled as such. For a while I was trying to be gluten free due to some (nonexistent) allergies and was desperately missing beer. Hurrah for the selection here! 4. The great beer selection. I just wish they would get Fat Tire. 5. Vancouver Island craft ciders. Yum. 6. These guys saved boxes for me when I moved. It was sweet. My review of Brewery Creek pertains only to their beer selection , which is fabulous (they also sell wine and spirits). The owner Gerry and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable; their recommendations have always been good too. They have all of the best local beer and also work hard to overcome our liquor bureaucracy and bring in the best from the world at large. You will not find a better beer selection anywhere else in BC. The one knock you might have against Brewery Creek is that it is expensive. Still 4 stars! This place is like Capers...i love just being there...pretty labels! Funky bottles!! Then i look at the prices. Good lord it is pricey in here! Seems to be higher markup than most private liquor stores...BUT Every time I ask for suggestions, the service is awesome, and adorable. I asked for a wheat ale recommendation and the guy who helped me...well....i just wanted to hug him he was so adorable in his passion for how I should pour half the bottle in a particular glass (wine glass!) then wait, then swirl it around or something, then pour the rest. I'll admit i stopped paying attention after awhile once that sly one-sided smile emerged on my face. my eyes were swirling and i kinda just wanted to kiss him (hug, kiss, you get the picture)... is it hot in here? Oh and i also got carded there last month. I turn 40 this year. That in and of itself almost got them that 5th star but i can't do it for $$$ alone. Been a long time customer every few days for over 10 years. But tonight this beer store lost me as a customer. They were quite rude and snippy when I tried to pay for $17 of beer with a $20 legal Canadian tender bill. They are discriminating against people with no credit cards or bank cards. Several other customers had to walk out empty handed due to having cash. The Bank Of Canada issued a notice today, telling Canadian retailers to STOP refusing cash customers over irrational fears about Covid19. I will never purchase anything here again after the rude attitudes I and other customers received tonight. Three customers in 10 minutes refused service..... going to be a lot of lost sales for this store and other stores. Perhaps they are not aware of the rapidly failing economy....maybe when they lose enough sales and they lose their jobs they will wish for regular cash customers like me......and hundreds of others. read more

This is more of a place to go for beer than for wine. They have a wide selection of beer, especially BC micro-brews. But there are also some fine American micros and other international fizz. They have a fair selection of wine -- good enough selection to pick out something nice ... but nothing to give you the kid-in-a-candy-store feeling. There's a lot of below-average cold-beer-and-wine-store plonk at prices higher than the BC Liquor Store. So if you're looking for a cheap bottle of Yellow Tail or Painted Turtle, head to the government shop. But if you want to spend $30 plus on a bottle, there are some nice choices. I think it might be hit-or-miss with the staff here. I overheard a staff member giving great service to a couple who were looking for a nice bottle of wine to give as a gift. They wanted so spend in the $50 range. We picked up a bottle of $35 BC bubbly, without help, waited in line at the check out, were shouted "NEXT" to and when we paid with a credit card the woman slammed the pen down on the counter for a signature and scowled at us. She asked for a second piece of ID and complained that it wasn't BC-issue (my friend paying isn't from here), which is kinda rude. How can you have a BC license if you're just visiting? Coming from SoCal, high end beer stores abound. Brewery Creek made me feel right at home. An amazing selection of craft beer, with super knowledgeable staff. The selection abounds, covering multiple countries, and marking the only place I can find some of the smaller SoCal operations in Vancouver, such as Bruery. Combine that with decent price point, and you bet its my beer stop on the way home from work. Only one trip turned me into a devoted fan. Dispointing! Usually we shop at this store 2-3 times a week and 75% of the time it's a great experience. Some employees come across as snobs and others are very nice and extremely helpful. Additionally, I am usually with my dog and they are very jive and always give him a treat. Today was unfortunately a bad experience. I was asked for an ID because my purchase was Over a $100. Fair enough and I have no objection to this. Today I had my dog and few grocery bags and had to put everything on the Floor to show my ID. I asked the clerk why I was asked today and not all the other times that I bought over $100. A lady behind right away jumped in and became very defective stating it's the POLICY! If it is then please do it all the time and not pick and choose whom. You are telling me if I had bought for $99 you wouldn't have asked? I was first in here about 5 years ago. This is where I learned Alexander Keith's is not really an IPA. They have a ton of specialty stuff, limited stuff, exotic crazy stuff. I can't say that I have ever bought wine here, but they have a lot of bottles. Ciders too. They have some unique hard stuff here: I've t ried Phrog Gin (Hornby Island), The Botanist Gin (Isle of Islay), Shramm Gin (made in Pemberton Valley with potatoes... I know!) and others. Pity they don't carry any Sloe Gin... I even saw yellow Chartreuse -- do I need to types of Chartreuse? If you are serious about making obscure cocktails hells ya! A lot of the beer is cold. Staff is helpful. CAMRA members get a 10% discount. Parking lot in the back and lots on Main street too. Lots to see in this neighborhood so check it out. The bus even goes there... read more

They carry Red Horse beer in both six-pack bottles and individual cans! Just went here only hours ago and was excited to see both and actually bought both. Interestingly enough, the cans have a higher alcohol rating than the bottles do. Other than that, they don't actually carry San Miguel either...Again, this place does have competitive pricing in comparison to other local liquor stores. Lastly, this place does have quite the selection of beers, so take your time and enjoy! Another case of too much hype? Or the legend not living up to the hoppy reality? I walked in expecting to be floating on frothy beer foam clouds, with barley angels greeting at the door, and malty aromas wafting about. But... sadly beer heaven was just not that awesome. It was more of a wine store with a section of beer tucked into the back corner. Hell ya, there are some awesome beers here, with a few that I have never seen in Canada. Definitely has some wide range of options here and the prices are very reasonable; certainly cheaper than bar offsales... I've definitely headed this direction before hitting the town and being the Vancouverite that I am I may have taken my soon-to-be belligerent self to a nearby park for a nostalgic pre game sesh. Living in Strathcona I have come to accept the fact that I will either have to plan ahead and make arrangements for BCL during its restricting hours of operation or suck it up and pay the inflated prices at many offsale sites, which I'm not usually too keen on doing. I recently got into trying out different kinds of beers, so I've been running around the city and checking out where I can get a good brew. It seems that Brewery Creek is my favourite place to go and grab a beer (or perhaps multiple beers). While Brewery Creek does charge a tad bit more than other private liquor stores there are some great trade-offs. Firstly the staff are super knowledgeable about their beers, and because of that you can easily get locked into a conversation. The staff are super easy to approach and passionate about what they like. Secondly they do order larger quantities of limited release beers than the other liquor stores. So if you are looking for a rarer beer, this is the place to check first. For anyone who is into both craft and great European beers, I would highly recommend Brewery Creek.
