Don't let the name confuse you, because this is a Rotorua gem! I have never seen a ginger crunch so big in my whole life! All the slices and muffins on display are pretty specky and some are even gluten and dairy free. I think it would take me 2 days to get through one indulgence slice! The layout is pretty breezy and the vibe is relaxed. The menu is displayed in a huge wall blackboard. They offer healthy and homemade baking, sandwiches and other delicious things sure to tempt you. This is a cute little cafe serving up a variety of meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. I love to support vegan friendly restaurants whenever I can, so I came here even though it was just for a coffee with my partner. I got a soy cappuccino and my boyfriend got the same, and our total came to $12. I thought that was kind of excessive ($6 for a coffee?!) but I rolled with it since I just really wanted coffee. We sat on the big couch in the front which was nice and cozy. We had a good time and the cafe wasn't super busy (it was over Christmas holidays, but not an actual holiday day). The employees were nice and the coffee was good, one of the best I'd had on our little road trip from Auckland. All in all, I'd go here again because the coffee was good and it was a chill place to hang out, but I seriously think they need to reconsider their prices. read more

Third time having breakfast here. My fiancée is gluten and wheat allergic and has found the eggs benedict with salmon safe before. But salmon wasn't available today for the long weekend. We asked if the bacon was gluten free and got smirks and a comment that since it was on the gluten free menu it must be ok. Unfortunately it wasn't. We left after eating with my fiancée in the early stages of gluten/wheat allergy. Within 10 minutes she was oedematous and falling asleep. Anaphylaxis is not fun. Came here in search of vegan breakfast treats. The place is pretty cool and has a clear menu. Despite the promise of catering to every diet in previous yelp reviews, this wasn't the case. There's a bewildering array of vegetarian, paleo, gluten free, dairy free etc, but nothing that's actually vegan perhaps except the salad and granola. Disappointing. I didn't try the coffee (soy and almond options), since I'd already gotten that elsewhere. I'm not aware of anywhere in Rotorua that does so much as a vegan muffin. read more

I still don't understand the name but this is a good healthy option in Rotorua. I got the 3 salad plate with mushroom, potato, roast vegetable. The mushroom was great and well seasoned but the other two a bit too starchy. I would seriously be happy with 3 servings of the mushroom salad. Go check it out! read more

Popped in for breakfast this morning. In my opinion, it's a 3.5 star experience. I ordered a tall black coffee, which was ok but it was missing the splash of milk I requested and it wasn't filled to the top (sorry I'm an American, and I want every single drip of coffee) I chose a savory scone with lamb, cheese and mint, which did not disappoint. Saw vegan on the menu when walking by and had to check it out. Great service. The girl at the counter walked me over to the menu on the wall and went through everything that could be made vegan. They don't serve lunch until 1130, so I had to choose from the breakfast menu. Got the breakfast burger. It's allergy free and without a bun. The dish was SUPER delicious. Great little cafe located in Rotorua that specialises in wholesome foods. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful. The serving sizes are large - without a doubt they serve the most massive scones I have ever seen!
