Dr. Beach focuses extensively on diagnosing without also helping you to change. Dr. Beach tries to push spirituality or religion on to you. There is much better help out there. I first met Dr. Beach when my child was referred to him by a well-respected psychiatrist. On our first visit, we discussed realistic goals and expectations, his policies, fees, and his training and experience in dealing with the specific challenges facing my child and my family. He conducted testing to help determine what specific support my child needed, and he used that information to help me be a better parent, to help his teachers better meet his educational needs, and so that he could provide the best therapy possible. I began seeing Dr. Beach for individual therapy after closely observing how he treated my child. He has always made it clear that the direction my healing would take would be up to me, and that we would only address those situations I brought to each session. He has helped me learn to cope with some major tragedies, and with those daily stresses we all face. I have never felt judged or talked down to, no matter what I have discussed with him. We have talked about religion as it is an important issue for me in healing, but he has never pushed any of his personal beliefs.
