Communication from the time of booking until the cleanup was on point. The location at La Jolla Shores was perfect and easily accessible. Mateo was our guy and he setup early and was available if needed. He also helped me transport our stuff to the beach from my car. We had 2 fire pits, a table, s'mores and tiki torches. We set up towels and blankets around the fire pits with cute fairy lights to give it a little extra ambiance. The party was a hit and the kids had a great time!! We came to San Diego for a soccer tournament and wanted to do a team bonding event. This was a very fun group activity. We did the sunset package with s'mores. The girl that helped me over the phone was very helpful and recommended this location, Bonita Cove. Our whole group loved it and the girls had a great time. We even got to see the Sea World fireworks from this location. The guy that set up our event was very nice and communicated through text. I did meet him in person and he let us know that he was close by if we needed him. We paid through Venmo. Just an FYI, when you pay through Venmo they do charge you a little more. Chris did a great job setting up our Adirondack chairs, fire pit, tiki torches, s'mores, table and pop up tent for a bonfire party on 8/19 - the day before Hurricane Hilary. We had a perfect spot on Bonita Cove with a clear view of the Sea World Fireworks. Chris was responsive and even came back to relight our tiki torches when the wind blew them out. When we were ready to go, I texted Chris and he showed up in just a few minutes to start collecting everything. Beach Fire Guy gets a one star rating. I inquired on the Beach Fire Guy website a month in advance to set up a reservation for my friend's birthday outing. (Note that they have record of my request for a specific date.) Since I'm not a local, I wanted to make the reservation over the phone to discuss the location. I then received a call back the same day from "Reese." Reese sounded informative on the call, walked me through directions, and we decided on a time of 6:30PM at Mission Bay (more on this later). He then tells me that someone will call me the day of (6/12) the reservation to meet up and get the supplies dropped off. We ended that call, and I was glad I had a reservation a month out. Fast forward to the day of the reservation. I keep my phone on hand for when I would get that call. I'm traveling to Mission Bay, a 2 hr drive, with my friends, all my food, drinks, and gear ready for a bonfire. At 4pm I was getting antsy and called the Beach Fire Guy number. A woman answers and tells me there is no reservation. I'm trying not to freak out, but she tells me she will see if they can get me a pit in time and will call me back. Two hours later I haven't received a call. I call the number again, and it's Reese on the phone now. He tells me that a reservation was never made because we didn't decide on a time or location. It was at this moment my optimism shattered. That was a big, blatant lie. (Refer back to my online inquiry and the phone call where I made the reservation with Reese himself). He then sounds standoffish as he asks for what kind of pit package I want, gives me a higher price than what we originally discussed (not a big deal), and tells me we can have a pit at 8:30pm. I agree. It's 8:30pm and I'm at mission bay with my friends, and talk to Reese. He tells me to check if anyone has left their fire pits yet so we could start using one. Lo and behold, no one is leaving their pits, and they didn't leave all night. He then tells me he can't get a hold of his driver but will keep trying. Now Reese was being honest at least, and called me every 15 minutes. But each call he had the same line: "hey I can't get a hold of my driver, I'm sorry, I will keep trying". We do this until 9:15. My friend grabbed my phone on the last call and hung up on Reese, and we walked to a nearby restaurant to eat for the first time of the day. I don't know why I had such a bad experience with Beach Fire Guy. Technically there is no accountability on their end because they get payment when they drop off the supplies. They can easily bail on you at any time. Ultimately I'm really bummed. My friends and I made a one night trip around this bonfire plan, and it bombed hard, thanks to Reese... and Beach Fire Guy. read more

Made a reservation with the Beach Fire Guy for my friend's birthday. They were going to go stake out a city-provided fire pit, but if anyone has ever done that, it can be quite challenging. It's a little bit better in the winter, but you have to get there early and guard your fire pit all day in order to enjoy it at night. We wanted to have our get together in the evening and between dogs, work, and errands, our group was looking for something easier. I had been to a beach fire event that a friend had put together many years ago where they had a service, so I started to look to see if any where still in operation and if any were reputable. After looking at a handful of options, I landed on the Beach Fire Guy. I called and spoke with Reese. Even though I am local to downtown San Diego and have done beach fires in the area before, I really wanted an experienced opinion on where it should be specifically. We had narrowed it down to Mission Bay Beach or bayside. After talking to Reese about what we were looking for in terms of ambience and convenience, he suggested a location. I put through the online form and got an email confirmation back. Day of our event, I got a call from our Beach Fire Guy, (I believe it was) John. Super nice. He was going to set our area up a little before our time, and I asked him to drop me a pin of where and specifically it was set-up. Since we had the general area, but I didn't want to get lost. He did and it was super convenient. When we arrived everything was waiting for us and all we had to do was light our fire. All of our chairs were set up, the initial kindling and wood was in the pit, the tiki torches were out and the s'mores ingredients were standing by. While we were there, he stopped by to make sure everything was ok, and about 20 minutes before we were about to leave, I texted him to let him know. Super easy. Depending on how many people you have. It's not a cheap option, but the convenience is what makes it so worth it. The Beach Fire Guys were easy to work with and we had a wonderful view of the water and the SeaWorld Fireworks that evening. Wonderful evening with a firepit on the beach! Since we are from out of town, and have tried in the past to find beach firepits and were unsuccessful, this was a perfect service to use. We booked the Tiki smore beach bonfire. They provided us with everything needed. Due to current restrictions, we had to meet on the boardwalk and bring everything out ourselves which was super easy. We were charged like $200 and we only got to use it for like 30 minutes. Oh how I wish I could write a good review....but they never showed up! I had scheduled a beach fire for my bachelorette weekend. Originally I had requested July 4th, which they couldn't do beach of the hectic-ness of the holiday (totally makes sense!). On the phone, I rescheduled for July 3rd, which they said was fine. They told me the meeting spot, that someone would call when the fire is set up, and we spoke about my add-ons (a cooler with ice). I had seen a few reviews about them not showing up, so a week before my bachelorette party I called again. I left a voicemail requesting more add-ons. A guy called me back and I was able to add the smores kit to my reservation. I thought for sure I was good to go. On the day of the reservation, no one showed up. I called them a few times and finally got a callback (after our reservation time). They said they didn't have a reservation for me. Eventually, they found some information within their emails and said someone could come in 2 hours to set up a fire. Unfortunately, that time did not work for our group. On the phone, the people all seemed really sweet & awesome! If you're going to book with them, I would advise calling them the day before to remind them of your reservation and make sure it's still in their books. read more

It is so perfect after a beach day to come to the bay or beach and have tick torches, chairs and a beautiful bon fire waiting for you so you can enjoy the gorgeous moon and fire works. We had an absolutely blast at our bonfire on Mission Bay! I've been wanting to do one since I moved to San Diego four years ago but never really had the chance (and COVID totally screwed that up for a year and a half). Chris helped set us up and was extremely responsive and easy to work with. He set up the bonfire for us (all we had to do was light the fire) and cleaned everything up as well. We had the package with the s'mores and also added a cornhole game. At this particular location, it was completely secluded and we caught the SeaWorld fireworks in the evening. TO KNOW: They DO NOT set up the fire. You're paying 200+ for them to bring wood, a mini-bonfire put, burned down tiki torches, and a small match box that will be NO help lighting you fire. It was my boyfriends birthday(which I told them), and intentionally set the appointment 1 month out at an HOUR before sundown because watching the sunset is my boyfriend and I'd favorite thing to do -- After they left me waiting for an hour with an empty promise that someone was always 1 minute away, it took another hour for them to finally make it to our location 1 full hour PAST my reservation time. This is after they called me an hour early saying they were ready to get started, and out of kindness, I skipped picking up my food to drive all the way to the beach early so they could set up, only for them to leave me waiting for 2 hours. My family and I drove down from Orange County for a day trip to have a bonfire at Mission Bay (Santa Clara Point). Since it was over a very hot weekend, so it's also very crowded. We had a hard time finding parking but since we were supposed to meet Bryce at 4pm; we got there by 3pm and was able to keep circling around for parking. By 4pm, it's just a matter of being patience as more people were leaving. Bryce was very cool and set up the bonfire. He told us where he would set it up to get the prime view of the Sea World's fireworks at 9:50pm. We did the shindig package with extra chairs. We also like the fact that it's cash only so "no show, no pay". No need to worry. Even though the bonfire was set up around 4pm, we didn't really lit the fire until past 7pm after sunset. We basically just hang out at the beach as the kids playing the sand castle, we flew kites. There were plenty of wind, flying kites were super easy even for me, first timer. Because it's in Mission Bay, the water is very blue and less wind and the kids liked it better. The wave did kick up a bit as the night progresses. We brought igloo and corns and just got hotdogs from local store. We had hotdogs and corns over bonfire. Since it was super warm during the day, night time didn't seem that cold after all but we did bring jackets and blankets just in case. After dinner, we had s'more and the kids love the whole "cooking over fire" experience. My daughter kept asking to go back "tomorrow". We saw a couple of fireworks going off before 9:50pm from a distance and wasn't sure if we should stay to make sure there's a firework. By 9:50pm past, we were like urgh I guess no fireworks then suddenly poofed, the fireworks from Sea World was happening. Really great seeing so close. A disappointing experience. I hate to be like this but it's important for others to understand that their night won't probably go as expected. Especially after reading other reviews with the similar experience I had, I had to speak on mine as well. I booked online for my daughter's 15th birthday about 3 weeks in advance. I was so excited that there was even a service like this. I called the next day to confirm my booking and the receptionist said it wasn't there but that she could book me now. She told me I'd hear from someone 30 minutes prior to our start time. There was never any email confirmation or follow up calls since then. My daughter had invited her big group of friends and she had a whole countdown on her Instagram leading up to the party. I really don't wanna drag this story out but long story short... I called and texted their number multiple times about 3 hours before all the way up to 30 minutes after the start time. I have never felt so ghosted! My night got so jacked up worrying about whether or not they would come. I went on Yelp and found another phone # to call. That guy from there was helpful and found my reservation and someone finally came. After all the stress, no communication aside from me hunting them down, and being an hour late, they still expected me to pay full price. Then offered a 10% discount. The guy who set us up still expected a tip (it wasn't his fault, I get it) But wow.. I told him to take his tip from the total cost of what I was paying. This experience had me so sad and disappointed leading up to his arrival because I was so embarrassed that this party was a doozie! To top it all off, the actual fire itself was weak the entire time. Not even worth all the hassle I went thru! What they have is a great concept and they all have the friendly personalities to really make this work, but the execution is horrible.
