This morning my car was towed by Beach Towing. I accepted responsibility when I called to get the car back, whoever answered the phone (after waiting for 20 mins on hold) was unbelievably rude. My rental car being towed was my fault but I wasn't rude to him. I had the rental agreement and photo ID and they still would not let me pick up the vehicle without a notarized letter from the rental car company. When I asked if it could be faxed he yelled that it needed to be the original copy. When I asked to speak to someone else he hung up on me. The rental company is now going to have to go and get the vehicle. Even the representative said he was rude with her. I'm a day worker at a restaurant on the beach. yesterday was super busy in Sobe and there was no parking for hours. I and other workers had to unfortunately park in a residential zone and wait for spaces to open so we wouldnt be late for work and lose our jobs. If your RENTAL CAR gets towed, here is what you need to do: 1. At night, you're unlikely to reach your rental agency's authorized manager, so uber home and go to sleep. 2. Find a nearby rental car office (of same brand of course) and go there in person as soon as they open. They will tell you it needs to be the location where you rented your car but in our case it was Sixt at Ft L airport and there was another Sixt office just a few blocks from where we were staying so we went there. The Sixt managers was incredibly helpful but didn't need to be. She could have kicked the problem down the road and made us go to the airport office but thank God she didn't! 3. Remain polite and request advice and help solving the problem you caused. Everyone is overworked and understaffed so be part of the solution. note #2 above. Manager was nice to us because we were nice to her. 4. Beach Towing, and presumably all others, will require a notarized Hold Harmless letter from the vehicle owner (the rental agency) authorizing them to release the car to the person renting. Probably only the manager at your rental car company will be able to provide this. They may be new and not know this so that's why I'm writing this letter. This is also why you have to go in person to the rental car agency. 5. Beach Towing failed to tell us on the phone that they would ALSO require a print out of the rental agreement. This came to us via email so we didn't have a print out but there is an Office Depot right around the corner so we walked there and were able to print it out for about $1. 6. Have your driver's license and be the person who rented the car and is named in the Hold Harmless letter. 7. Have about $350 in cash. Tow charges plus daily storage fees. See photos posted listing all fees. Fees are more for non-residents! Ouch! Per photos posted of the many signs at the tow location, they will not take credit cards unless you're a Miami resident. There is an ATM on site if you're short of cash. 8. Bring your patience and remember a) you probably got towed because of your own actions and b) these guys have a miserable job and get hated on every day. They towed my car at 4 a.m., claiming I was parked illegally, despite the fact that I live in the area and know I was not. They provided no proof to support their claim, not even a photo. I understand these tow companies are just doing their jobs but I have to give a negative review because of their outrageous prices and ridiculous process for retrieving a rental car from their yard. I had to pay $342 cash. Their lot is just 1.2 miles from where my car was towed in Miami Beach. They would not release the car until I provided a notorized letter from the rental company even though I had the keys, rental agreement and photo ID. The process for obtaining a notorized letter from the rental company took 7 hours. Be careful where you park in Miami Beach!! Read every sign on the entire block. I parked in a clearly marked spot and paid for the parking. I called the city inquiring as to why I was towed. They said I was parked in a zone that was restricted to commercial loading only during the hours of 7am-3pm. I went back to the location to verify this. I'm appalled at the lack of respect and care. I parked for an hour in the wrong spot, and then had to pay almost $250 to get it back. I found it with a PUNCTURED tire (it was in perfect condition) and the manager came after an HOUR to tell me I was wrong and that the punctured tire was my fault. According to Beach towing service, we got charged for after hour fee $30 because it got towed after 8 pm. City of Miami Beach claimed it's legit for towing company to ask for cash payment and impose whatever fees they desire, that is total BS. Beware where you park in Miami, it's best to take Taxi, Uber or Lyft as parking is expensive in Miami. Gave it one star for outrages cash upfront fees and the inflexible payment methods. It's a towing service, so I didn't expect much, but it was worse. Really awful people on power trips. Guy told me that I needed to send an actual piece of paper that was notarized since an employee got the van towed and I was out of town. Even with my authorization he wouldn't release the van without this (which is fine, i understand that). But then called me stupid, and told me he was trying to help because he actually came out of his office. Cost me $75 to send the documents - done exactly as he told me to, then he tried to hold the van longer because he said I didn't follow his instructions. Late at night parked the rental car in the wrong spot I guess. The city of Miami Beach called these scumbags to tow. They will not release a rental (that is their policy, not that of Budget) so now I will owe not only the tow, a ticket (which Id pay) bit it takes 7-10 days to process so I will have to pay 7 days of impounding plus an additional week of rental. This is the tow company policy and the city os complicit with this. Miami Beach doesn't give a crap about their visitors haven't felt welcome here and this is the icing in the cake.
