On Sundays there are two services taught by the fun loving and warmhearted Pastor John. The first service begins at 9 AM and is a more traditional style with hymns. For the kids, there are different Sunday School Classes for elementary, junior high, and high school ages. At 10 AM, the service ends and there is time for the congregation to mingle and get coffee or sweets from the youth bake sale. The second service begins at 10:30 AM and is intended to be a more contemporary style of church service. This works out better for the younger crowd who value sleeping in. Throughout the week there are tons of activities going on including a variety of Bible studies and opportunities for local missions (Sandwich Ministry for the homeless, Women's Sewing Group for the military etc.). There are also several random events throughout the year like the Church Picnic, Concerts, Movie Nights, Board Game Socials, and more! Although I love this church as a whole, my heart particularly lies with the youth program called THE HAVEN. (Meets on Thursdays 4 - 9PM) Most of the kids who attend this noticeably diverse group are from around the neighborhood and have been regularly attending for some time now. Especially in the last two years, I've noticed these kids have really developed a heart for missions and are every day getting more involved with the church family. I would highly recommend this youth program for kids who are having a hard time fitting into other church youth groups. Many of the youth who get involved with THE HAVEN have commented there are no cliques here and that there is a real sense of family between them. I assure you; by coming to this church you will see what I'm talking about. Come to any of the services, Bible studies, or events you can find on the church's website. These are definitely people you want to meet and you will for sure be welcomed here!

The church is large and spacious (it fit 500+ people for the wedding), and I felt very nostalgic of my Lutheran school/church days as a child. I spent one day a week at youth group from 7th-12th grade. I always felt a deep connection to this church. That was until this church rejected me. I wasn't baptized as a baby because my father was going through cancer treatments at the time so obviously I wasn't the top priority. I believe in Jesus and his principles. I just hold some reservations when it comes to is he actually the son of god. For that reason, they refused me a baptism. It's amazing to me that they'll refuse it for a person who willing wants it while also doing it to a baby who has no choice.

The church is closed (construction workers inside) so I went to the parish office. - Me, in a polite and friendly tone: Good morning! Since the church is closed, I was wondering how I could get a little bit of holy water - Caroline in a cold tone: You can't get in the church - Me: I understand. That is why I came to ask how could I get a little bit of holy water - Caroline: You absolutely can't get in the church - Me: I understand, I don't want to get in the church (pause). How can I get holy water? - Caroline: Do you have a container? - Me: No, I just need a little to put on me right now. That's all. - Caroline: If you don't have a container you can't have holy water. While she is saying this I started signing in on the clipboard right there at the front desk. "Reason for visit: Looking for holy wate___" Caroline snatched the clipboard off my hands. You can see the word "water" with a scratch because the pen was still on the paper while she was taking it away. Yes, she snatched the clipboard while I was writing. - Caroline in an upset (not loud) tone: You don't have to sign in there, that is for school visitors. - Me: I didn't know - Caroline, still upset tone: What are you doing?? Why do you want to sign in?? - Me, calmly: Because I'm here as a visitor and I didn't know it was for the school only. You are being rude. I just wanted a little of holy water. - Caroline: I'm not being rude. We can sell you a container for $1. - Me: Ok. I'll pay. She filled a small bottle, I handled her my card. She said they don't take cards, I told her I'd go to my car and get cash. - Caroline: If you don't have money you can take it - Me: I have money in my car, I'll be right back. - Caroline insisted: If you don't have money you can take it - Me: I'll be back with the money I came back with a $5, she offered to give me change and I said I wanted her to keep it so the next four people who came asking could have holy water for free. She agreed, we said good bye. ------- What is the big deal about this? (Highlighting, not yelling) I APPROACHED THE CHURCH LOOKING FOR HOLY WATER FOR IMMEDIATE USE. It would be safe to assume I WAS HAVING SOME KIND OF HARD TIME. Instead of offering the holy water and maybe asking me if I needed to speak to a priest I was mistreated. That is what is wrong. Then she was ready to give me the water for free, which means, she could have offered that container the first time I asked (I would pay, anyway). Instead she chose to treat me like I'm not welcome, I don't matter, and be rude to me. Of course I used some of that holy water immediately as I was walking to my car to get the money (thanks Caroline, you made it worse, but I'm fine now). Public servants have to be held to a higher standard and churches are the ultimate public servant. That is why they get a tax credit. I was not buying gum from Target, I was seeking holy water from my church. Was it because I was wearing a baseball hat, jeans, and tennis shoes? Would she have treated me like that if I was dressed like a donor or one of the tuition paying parents? Luke 14:13-14 (NIV) - "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed." What if I was struggling so bad that I needed God and I was pushed away? Caroline, you would be a hand helping push that person off the bridge. Can you imagine that? A church employee being the last straw. That would be great on the news. To the Father, please check on Caroline. Maybe she is struggling. If that is the case, help her. It is your godly duty. If that's not it, TRAIN HER. And we wonder why the Catholic Church is losing people... While pushing people away. Maybe if you welcomed strangers as Jesus said we must, we wouldn't be shrinking our church.

What has stood out most is how personally invested this church has been in me. From the very beginning, people have been incredibly welcoming, and it genuinely feels like a place where you're known and cared for. Many families have been attending for decades, which speaks so much to the strength of the community. They also host such fun and thoughtful events--we joined for Trunk or Treat (dressed as Romans!) and have loved things like soup suppers and pie contests. There's also a small, intentional preschool and a growing young adult community, which has been really special to be part of. If you're looking for a church that is rooted in truth, centered on the Gospel, and has a strong sense of community, I can't recommend this church enough. You don't feel a sense of judgment or condemnation when attending this church. I have tattoos, plugs piercings and other "non churchy" appearance attributes but that doesn't make a difference. When I attend Beachpoint HB I am looked at through the Lens of Christ. I am seen for who Christ sees me. I am loved on the way Christ loves me and how he intended us to be loved, through his people and in community. Children's program is great! Since this is the beginning of a church plant, there aren't an overwhelming number of kids in the youth ministry. There are just enough kids for your child to have community but also attain the attention, love and care they desire and need! The band is great! Numerous singers both male and female with different instruments. It's not like you're at a concert so you are able to worship without being drowned out by the awe factor of just watching instead of participating, but it's not your 1950's gospel hymn worship choir either. It's right in the middle, able to cater to Gods children's from all ages an walks of life! The Preaching great! Pastor Ken gives you messages that are from the scripture. He allows the spirit to lead him, he is humble yet confident. I don't fall asleep when he is speaking even when I am tired. He doesn't ramble and he keeps it to the point! Over all Beachpoint HB is a solid church! I love all aspects and can't wait to see what God will continue to do through this church in His people and trough out the community!

They meet Sunday mornings at 10am at Fuzion, an arcade game-and-eat type business, similar to Dave & Busters. Our interaction with everyone there was pleasant. Seemed like a nice group of people that love Jesus. The message was really solid too, judging by the past couple sermons, it seems like Pastor Ken is a devoted and passionate disciple - something we really hoped to find in the pastor of a church. While, we don't have kids yet, they seemed to have children's ministry for infants - 8th graders, with sufficient staffing. We'll be back...and I plan on beating my wife handily at skee-ball after church :)
