We went to several vets in the last six months because we are relatively new to the area. Most of the other veterinarians did not bother to talk to us directly or even on the phone to explain the problem. One other vet had an estimate for the biopsy and surgery prepared and handed to us by a staff member without any discussion or explanation - and the estimate for both combined procedures was several hundreds of dollars HIGHER than at Dr. Rubio's Pet Hospital. Since we have five adopted/rescued little shelter dogs, money is an issue, too. We are happy we have found Dr. Rubio and he will be the regular veterinarian!

The only reason I chose aloha over the Emergency Vet on EAU…read moreGALLIE is because aloha could offer me a set appointment and my cat was in a lot of pain so I didn't want her to have to sit in the waiting room scared. 2 1/2 hours later I was still not seen and had to create a fuss to get seen. The weight at the other clinic was one hour. My cat had an abscess near her tail and was in a ton of pain. Dr. Smith glanced at the abscess for maybe two seconds and said the abscess had already started draining on its own so therefore it didn't need to be lanced nor cleaned. She did not bother to clean the wound or anything. She sent me home with pain meds and antibiotics. Well, the next day my cats wound was much worse than it was before I brought her in there and at that point, it really did start to drain. My poor baby was dripping disgusting foul smelling pus and blood all over my house and she could barely stand because she was in so much pain. I called the Emergency Vet on EAU GALLIE and they were more helpful than Aloha staff. They recommended cleaning the area. I cleaned the wound myself with a mix of saline solution and betadine, which the doctor at Aloha advised me not to do, and after that my cat was much more comfortable because her wound was actually flushed out. I am not a medical professional, but luckily a lot of people in my family are and they advised me to clean the wound unlike Aloha. I am a local and based upon friends and neighbors and family members that have gone there in the past four or five years, this place has massively gone downhill. They can't decide if they are an emergency vet or a regular vet and you really can't be both. Their veterinary care is subpar and there's no way I would ever take my animal here ever again. Once I brought my cat for stomach issues and they wanted to do a colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultrasound, and a biopsy all in the same visit. I went to the other Dr. Smith who is an internal medicine specialist at the Rockledge Emergency Vet and he said he would not do anything more than an ultrasound and food trials before he had more information. This hospital is so extra and they charge you for things you don't need and the vets don't have the knowledge that they should. It sucks because I adopted one of my cats from aloha and he's a great kitty, but I am not comfortable trusting them with my animals. Never again.

The Lottery system seems a little convoluted and makes it a little bit more difficult to adopt an animal. Having said that, the lottery system is working really well because the inventory of jail animals is very low. It's great that you can see them during their quarantine. Which gives him a head start on getting adopted. The shelter itself is very clean the volunteers here are doing their best to take care of these animals. The cages are constantly clean and the animals seem for the most part to begin in all the exercise that they need or want. Even the sad animals here seems to be taken care of. I adopted a fur baby here and she came with enough medication to treat her skin problem for 14 days one pill a day she was also spayed here and she came with the medicated shampoo plus a bonus anti flea and tick pill. And let's not forget the included rabies shots and vaccinations. The doctor on staff seems to look at these animals and make sure they go out with everything they need to have a good start in their new homes. I don't know if it's just a temporary promotion but then zero adoption fees zero vet fee and no charge for the medication. I felt so blessed that somehow the sheriff is able to give away animals with full treatment and no expense to the new foster parents. The staff that works here was always very nice even when they yelled at me so that stick my hand in the cage while blatantly ignore the sign on the wall. I tried to explain to the volunteers that permission to stick my hand in the cage because the dog and I had a short conversation before I did it. They seem to be confused and will remind me again about the rule for safety purposes. But if you know me you also know, I do what I want! Don't shop and adopt! There are so many great animals waiting to be the best pet they can be for you and your family. Many of these poor animals were lost from the original owners or dumped in the woods. Most cases an animal that's been in jail is a lot easier to train cuz they're spirits have already been broken. Even if you don't plan on taking home any fur babies and you're in the area. It'd be nice to do for you to stop by and just play with some of the animals and give them attention. Most of the kitties like to be pet and most of the dogs love it when you take them out into the field.

They all seem to genuinely be concerned about the animals and work very hard to make sure each animal is set up for success as possible. They have a program for veterans that makes the adoption free. This month in September all adoptions are free. If you want to adopt come on down and see some of these wonderful animals. If you want to volunteer there is a process and it is thorough but once you get cleared it is the most rewarding thing you can do. Short of being a good husband and father,​ this is the most rewarding thing I do each week.

During this time, we contacted the office multiple times seeking guidance as his condition changed and worsened. One of my biggest frustrations was communication. When we called with concerns, we were generally routed through front desk staff and were told messages would be passed along to the doctor. As a pet owner dealing with a serious post-surgical situation, I often felt uncertain whether the full details of my dog's condition were being communicated and whether my concerns were receiving the level of attention I expected. My dog was later diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and ultimately required emergency treatment at VEG Viera. The care he received there was a critical part of his recovery, and I am extremely grateful to their team for the attention and treatment they provided during a very stressful and frightening time. I was also disappointed by the costs associated with my dog's care. At one point, I was advised that follow-up X-rays would cost $400. Given the significant expenses we had already incurred and the ongoing complications my dog was experiencing, I found the additional costs felt more like a money grab. In total, we paid $6,746.35 for the surgery and follow-up care through VSC and an additional $10,543.17 for emergency treatment at VEG, bringing our total expenses to $17,289.52. While others may have had positive experiences, my experience left me disappointed with the post-operative communication, follow-up process, and overall care my dog received. As a result, I would not choose this provider again.

The entire staff was super helpful. Dr. Lawrence explained everything upfront and after. The only suggestion that I would have is that for the follow-up bandage change appointments that it would be included in the cost of surgery even if the original estimate was slightly higher. From my experience, I've always had everything rolled up into the estimate. It was not a huge deal, more of an inconvenience.
