I took my cat there today for the first time for her yearly shots and check up. The assistant (Anna I believe was her name) and Dr.Rubio we're very friendly and professional. They were dealing with a difficult situation with another patient but made sure to answer all of my questions and took time to make sure my kitty was taken care of. I would highly recommend them to anyone with pets. My kitty was not happy to be there but then who likes going to the doctor

Just took our maltipoo puppy to Dr. Rubio's clinic, the staff was very welcoming, the clinic is incredibly clean, I love that they have a puppy plan that you can sign up for to help offload costs of vaccinations and spaying/neutering. Dr. Rubio and his staff pay close attention to detail and your pet concerns. We are are looking forward to having our forever vet care with them. Thank you!!

Let me start by saying that this review of Premier Vet, Dr. Roger Melton, and his excellent staff…read moreis 5 out of 5 stars. My dog Bandit tore his CCL the last week of July 2025. Bandit is an allergy dog, so I'm very aware of his ailments and what to do. A CCL tear was not on my radar. I went to my local vet because I initially thought it was a sprain or possibly something was in his foot. The local vet diagnosed him with a CCL tear and told me the "GOLD STANDARD" is a TPLO. I conducted my research and came across a TikTok video titled, "Why I regret my dog's TPLO surgery." I began to explore alternatives and came across Dr. Melton and the Tightrope Method. I narrowed my search to two vets--a practice just north of Boston and Premier Vet. I contacted both practices, and Dr. Melton got on the phone with me to explain the procedure and the pros and cons of the other methods (there are several, including TPLO, MMP, Tightrope, Zlig, etc.). A doctor willing to speak to you before you become a patient is rare, and it was the deciding factor for my dog, Bandit. I agreed to have Dr Melton perform surgery on my 8-year-old Parson Terrier. We arrived for surgery, met Dr. Melton, and over several hours, Dr. Melton's team prepped Bandit for surgery. Bandit went in at 12 p.m. and by 3 p.m., he was ready to go home. Dr. Melton discovered another issue during surgery on Bandit that could have led to a future knee problem. Overall, Dr. Melton and his team are professional and courteous, taking the extra time to explain everything to you, and his prices are more than reasonable and fair for a surgery (plus follow-up). The recovery time for a TPLO is 12 weeks, and it requires sedation for the majority of that time. Bandit was up and walking the next day. It's been two months, and he's running around with his brothers, going for walks, and being his usual happy self. I went back to Dr. Melton for another procedure for Bandit, and that went wonderfully as well. Dr. Melton is not only a great veterinarian, but he also speaks to you, allowing you to ask questions, challenge him, and I appreciate him (and his team). Thank you, Premier Vet, Dr. Melton, Sharon, and your entire team. David G (and Bandit)

We had an examination appointment with Veterinary Specialty Clinic to see what our options were. It was determined that the sarcoma mass needed to be removed. Was given estimates and although the estimate was higher than I'd hoped, it was not a shock as surgery is just costly. Prior to surgery, during surgery and aftercare was a very good experience. The entire staff was super helpful. Dr. Lawrence explained everything upfront and after. The only suggestion that I would have is that for the follow-up bandage change appointments that it would be included in the cost of surgery even if the original estimate was slightly higher. From my experience, I've always had everything rolled up into the estimate. It was not a huge deal, more of an inconvenience. Thanks to the Dr. Lawrence and the entire staff for taking such great care of my pet.

Following the surgery, he experienced significant complications, including repeated vomiting and respiratory concerns. During this time, we contacted the office multiple times seeking guidance as his condition changed and worsened. One of my biggest frustrations was communication. When we called with concerns, we were generally routed through front desk staff and were told messages would be passed along to the doctor. As a pet owner dealing with a serious post-surgical situation, I often felt uncertain whether the full details of my dog's condition were being communicated and whether my concerns were receiving the level of attention I expected. My dog was later diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and ultimately required emergency treatment at VEG Viera. The care he received there was a critical part of his recovery, and I am extremely grateful to their team for the attention and treatment they provided during a very stressful and frightening time. I was also disappointed by the costs associated with my dog's care. At one point, I was advised that follow-up X-rays would cost $400. Given the significant expenses we had already incurred and the ongoing complications my dog was experiencing, I found the additional costs felt more like a money grab. In total, we paid $6,746.35 for the surgery and follow-up care through VSC and an additional $10,543.17 for emergency treatment at VEG, bringing our total expenses to $17,289.52. While others may have had positive experiences, my experience left me disappointed with the post-operative communication, follow-up process, and overall care my dog received. As a result, I would not choose this provider again.

Reading some of these reviews are a relief because I sensed something else. I believe this clinic caters to dying animals and/or white owners. If you don't fit that demographic, fuhgetaboutit! My four year old cat is admittedly nervous at the vet. I took her out of her carrier and she explored the exam room for a few minutes. When Dr. Fontenot came in, I learned that the clinic doesn't allow owners to handle or soothe their pet during the exam. Big mistake! They got as far as putting her on the exam table. In the hands of two strangers, she was terrified. 20 seconds and one cat hiss later, I was told they couldn't examine a cat that would "attack" them. I was stunned. But I also don't believe in being anywhere my presence or dollars aren't appreciated, so I left quickly. I've been a cat owner for over two decades (my first cat lived to 17, my current one is four and I fostered in between) and today was the first time my pet and I were labeled and rejected. Dr. Fontenot also rudely suggested that I "return to my previous clinic" which I would certainly do if I were still in that area. I look forward to discovering a clinic in my new locale that's more empathetic to the pet's experience and familiar with the variety of methods to help alleviate anxiety, like allowing the familiar and trusted owner to be more involved with the exam process. It's a partnership! This makes me appreciate my many prior positive experiences with our former clinics even more. S/O to Stevens Animal Hospital in Pompano and Riverview Veterinary Hospital in Atlanta. I know our next great clinic is out there. ‍

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Rockledge Specialty & Emergency Hospital and the care…read morethey have given our baby cat, Eddie!!! His journey has NOT been simple, and they have supported us medically and emotionally every step of the way. Eddie came in very sick, and instead of guessing or rushing, the team took a very thoughtful and thorough approach. He had so many things done, including staying overnight multiple times, an echocardiogram, ultrasounds, blood work, PCV checks, and multiple rounds of testing to try to understand what was happening. It was all soooo confusing as to what was wrong with him, but the team never gave up. They carefully ruled things out, explained results clearly, and never made us feel rushed or like our questions were a burden. Eventually, the doctors shared that Eddie might be facing FIP or lymphoma which was so scary to hear - but they walked us through what that meant, what treatment options existed, and what to expect. They were honest, compassionate, and hopeful in all the right ways. We had the FIP medication overnighted and started it immediately, and have seen amazing results! This would not have been possible without Dr. Smith's intellect and dedication. Along the way, the staff constantly reminded us how much they loved Eddie and how sweet he is, which meant so much especially on the hard days. He has always been treated like a loved patient, not just "another cat." We were especially touched when Dr. Smith came in during his Thanksgiving break to care for Eddie when he needed treatment. That kind of commitment is rare, and we will never forget it!! Today, Eddie is gaining weight, healing, and slowly getting stronger, and we truly believe we wouldn't be here without the careful, dedicated care from this hospital. We are deeply grateful for the doctors, technicians, and staff at this hospital. If you are looking for a veterinary team that combines outstanding medical knowledge with genuine compassion and heart, this is the place to go!!! Thank you to everyone who works there! I'll start off by saying, kudos for being open on Christmas for emergencies like our car accident…read moresituation. But that's about all I'll say positive about our experience here. The front intake staff was good and friendly. The facility was clean and safe. If your pet has diarrhea or vomiting, this so called "hospital" can probably help you in an emergency with fluids and pills. It seems that's where their "hospital" supplies and support end. We sat in the front lobby for 3-1/2 hours because the "triage" nurse had our dog with a fully broken leg from a car accident listed as "stable and ok". We got pushed back for 2 other pets that came during that wait time. One did seem to be real emergency and needed help ASAP.Once we got in a room, the nurse spent a few minutes checking heart rate, eyes, tummy, then the leg. Also made us check weight a second time because someone forgot to write 34.7 kg down. No other body checks for a dog who was in a car accident. Doctor vet finally came in 30-45 minutes later and said "that's for sure broken, sorry I should have gotten to you sooner but he was listed as stable and ok on the chart". Even though he cried in pain for 3 hours in lobby. After spending a minute or maybe 90 seconds looking at him, she ordered "x-rays". Fully sedated our dog with anesthesia for an hour and only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY! They took no blood or urine samples to check his body out. Dr came back in said "he needs a surgeon and we don't have one until next year". Then said with his arthritis, it would make surgery difficult. Handed us a list of other hospitals and specialists they knew of from Jupiter to Orlando to Gainesville to as to help us. Then gave us $667 bill for one xray, 2 prescriptions for pain, and splinter for the leg. No directions on how to help his leg stay stabilized except "put him in kennel". The next day after calling all their people on the list the next day, including the University of Florida we were told no one was staffed for a bone surgery for the holidays. Luckily I found a bone specialist down in Vero Beach who took us in Saturday. After reading the treatment summary and calling you guys, his staff and him could not believe that you guys only took ONE UNCLEAR XRAY of a small part of the leg. No blood or urine samples at all. With the specialist we got 7 xrays of the legs and 2 of the spine and chest without anesthesia! We were only there for 1-1/2 hours as well and they have a surgeon who can do surgery. On their xray array they also caught a prostate issue. That is how you give pets good care, is by actually checking them out fully. If you have something simple like dehydration or vomiting, these people can probably help. But if you want real useful healthcare with actual hospital style supplies and staff, I'd strongly suggest finding a more appropriate emergency hospital. After waiting so long and getting one xray and a splint then kicked down the road to a real vet hospital, I'd never return here again. I truly feel they owe me a full refund for at least the xrays, as they didn't even accomplish that simple task fully, and I had to pay to have them redone. PS The bone specialist said nothing about arthritis making this fix difficult.
