first, let me say that I had this vet for a very long time. I took one of my cats there to get her anal glands Cleaned. The girl asked if we were staying or if we were going go and come back. I told her we would be back. She said that's a good choice because they get pretty loud because they don't like it. That was kind of a red flag to me because I've had my cats anal glands clean before and there was never a problem like that. Well, I take her home and her condition seem to get worse. She couldn't poop at all. she would strain but nothing would come out. She wouldn't eat so I took her back and he said he found there's an abscess back there. OK, so that's infection. How did she get an infection? So he ends up having to sedate her to "clean the abscess." I then I get a phone call stating that she has a hole in her colon and that he recommends that I consider putting her down. I was devastated to say the least. How the hell did my cat get a hole in her Colon??? but at this point, I didn't suspect anything because I trusted the doctor. So then I decided take my senior cat in to have her colon cleansed because I was afraid the same thing would happen to her. Because he was blaming it on the constipation. So being fearful that my other cat would see the same fate I decided to go ahead and get her colon cleansed. That was on a Friday, on Saturday I noticed blood in her stool so I called and he said give her Pepto-Bismol and call them Monday. I only gave her one dose of the Pepto-Bismol. He told to me to give her. On Sunday, She started throwing up and she Wouldn't eat or drink. I was gonna take her to the ER but since it hadn't been that long since she wasn't eating or drinking, I figured it could wait till Monday to see him. My poor baby passed away in the night at the foot of my bed. I woke up and she was dead. I called the vet hospital. And they acted like he was crazy for subscribing Pepto-Bismol. I then I looked it up online and it said it was very poisonous to cats. Why would this Vet give my cat Pepto-Bismol if it was poisonous? To say the least I'm completely heartbroken. Both of my cats died within two months of seeing this doctor. And I don't have any proof that he did anything, but I'll let you make your judgment from this as to whether you want to chance taking your animal to this doctor. As with any Vet. Question Everything and suspect everything when it comes to your fur babies. Even if they seem like the greatest doctors in the world. read more

I brought my cat to Dr. Rubio upon recommendation of a friend of mine. My cat has a large tumor on her face which has been repaired many times. But I had gotten pretty bad, and she's fairly old but in terrific shape otherwise. I wanted to get Dr. Rubio's opinion on what I should do. My former vet while nice , basically told me to put her down even though she's got a good quality of life. I wanted a possible surgical intervention because the tumor was going over her eye. Dr. Rubio was kind and gentle and told me that she didn't look like a dying cat, and that way he probably could help her. Well, he did the surgery and she looks and feels wonderful. And they called me the next day to see how she was. And I called to ask if another medicine would be appropriate for her on a long-term basis. And Dr. Rubio himself called me to talk about it. You could tell that he was very pleased with how the surgery went and seen genuinely happy for me and for my girl. I know she doesn't have much time left with us in the big picture but Dr. Rubio has given her an improved quality of life. His office staff is wonderful. Dr. Rubio and his Wife and staff are extremely Professional at Rubio Pet Hospital located at North Melbourne, Florida. I have been searching many years for the right Vet., as I had one of the best in New York! My Husband and I have owned for 6 years a Snowshoe cat, and he is half Siamese and over the top high spirited and we had taken him to a few Vets to help us calm him down with the correct medicine and never were able to get him under control! Doc. Rubio diagnosed the cat and prescribed him the perfect calming med. without it having to be a controlled med. and also changed his diet to Royal Canin Calming formula and by the way our cat loves the food! Now it has been 3 weeks since he is on his little dosing, and finally after 6 years we finally are so calm ourselves to have a normal cat! We are grateful to Doc. We recently called Rubio Pet Hospital because our rottie, Sasha, developed an ulcer on her stomach. We were given an immediate appointment even though it was late in the afternoon. Dr. Rubio examined Sasha and it was determined she would need surgery the following morning. From dropping her off for surgery to being called to let us know her blood work was good and even calling as soon as surgery was complete Dr. Rubio and his staff were professional and compassionate in a time that we were worried about our fur baby. Dr. Rubio, his wife and his staff are the most amazing and caring veterinarian I have ever been to. I had 4 dogs and Dr Rubio took/takes extra special care of all of them. Unfortunately my Luna just passed away from DM, but Dr Rubio diagnosed and treated her with patience, love and care. He allowed me to have that extra time with Luna, that her and I needed. With such a debilitating disease Dr Rubio still did not give up he constantly monitored her and us humans. This is the BEST vet office in Brevard! I got my puppy back in December for Christmas and was able to get him in there right away. They have great plans for your pet whether they are a puppy or not. Included my babies vaccines, neuter and microchip! They are thorough and always willing to answer questions, also give great recommendations in terms of dog food, and caring for your animal. The staff is very very friendly as well and also extremely helpful. I love Alyssa and so does my dog! She is so funny and you can really tell she has a true passion for animals. I have been using Dr. Rubio as our veterinarian for about 17 years. I met him when he first came to Melbourne, and took over the clinic in PetSmart. He was the only vet that could seem to help my Casey. When he left there to open his practice elsewhere, I worked diligently to find him and his staff.
