The prices seemed high and I was informed that's just the way it is with these inflated prices. I was waiting on an estimate from another company across the road but they were busy. I ended up getting the steel at Grosse. This afternoon their competition called me back across the road and I was completely shocked. The steel that I purchased I could have gotten literally at half price. I will be buying all my steel from the competition across the road because it probably all comes from the same place. I'm not going to deal with a company that is going to take advantage of the days we are in and gouge customers. This is how businesses end up going out of business! Greed!

I've had a number of plumbing jobs done by them, their work is first rate. The technicians are…read moreknowledgeable and polite. The reason I didn't give them five stars is not based on the quality of their work, but on the billing. My bills were often several times more than expected. Some of that is normal--one finds unexpected issues in an older house. My frustration was due to the office. Trying to get details from the office people, about either parts or hours, was like pulling teeth. They hated answering questions, often misunderstanding and overreacting to even a simply enquiry. In terms of parts: if they have to go to Home Depot and get parts, you will be paying for their time to get the parts. That's fine. But from what I could find out, there was also a serious upcharge on those same parts. This may in fact be industry standard, but to me, it seems like double dipping. I would expect to pay an upcharge for parts they keep in stock, but then, I'm not paying for the person's time acquiring the parts. Here, I was paying for both. (I'd recommend going with them to the hardware store and just paying for the parts yourself. The price different is significant.) In terms of time: Hours billed always considerably longer than I expected. Some of that is disposal, etc. But there was a time when the person left before completing a minor task. I had to call him back. It took some time before he returned. I was curious to know: Since this was the technician's mistake, did I pay for all that extra travel time? I never found out. I asked, not for the total hours, but for the times that made up those hours (clearly, you'd need to know the time frames in order to count the time?). Never got an answer. The regular office person refused to answer and finally passed me to her supervisor, who sent me a form email and then never responded to the actual question. Bottom line? If you want the job done well and don't care about details or cost, they're a great choice. I don't see myself calling them again.

This is my third purchase from The Barrel Guy for plastic drums for a rain water recovery system…read more I've gone from a two drum to four drum to a seven drum system. The plastic drums I bought were food grade (maple syrup flavoring) so as to not put any weird chemicals into the yard. Last summer I added a pump that will run handily supply water to a sprinkler using by yard hoses. Already sleuthing on next summer's addition!
