Bring it up and we can send it out if it needs repair." I drove an hour to Lancaster from my home. Took it into the store and was immediately told they don't work on that particular brand! Screw them! There's a guy in the city that looked at it for free. I will not be dealing with this place again. Such a disappointment.

Guitar Instructors more interested in buying guitars then teaching students!…read more When I went in to Mencheys of Hanover to purchase a guitar I was looking at I was told by Customer De-Specialists that the instructor was looking at it and playing it now with a student. I would have to wait to find out if he was interested in purchasing guitar. After waiting 35 minutes; not being asked help with anything else, what I assume was the manager told another customer de-specialist to go find out if he was purchasing said guitar. After the de-specialist went and asked the instructor he came back laughing and saying sorry bud. WTF. Mencheys you can go suck it! Does the instructor not have a guitar of his own? Doesn't he get a discount that would have been money wasted? Does he play every guitar through there to see if he is going to buy? Seems like a lot of new product going straight to used. That is why the guitar was on discount because of all the scratches on the pickgaurd! Yeah... Mencheys you can go suck it. Customer Service horrible, Stock discounted because instructors playing instruments during instruction, and I could think of a lifetime of negatives. If you live in the Hanover area take your kids to Coffey's Music in Westminster where they know how to treat guests and have great instructors. P.S. Spellcheck for Mencheys is Henchman! Paid to have a guitar repaired there. Was told it was fixed and the issue was not actually…read moreaddressed at all. The issue was that one of the pickups was quiet in the middle position. I was told when I went to pick it up that they couldn't find anything wrong other than a small piece of metal that they removed must have been cutting the sound out (did not test the guitar in the store just took their word). Come to find out, when I got it home, that the issue is the switch and that both pickups don't come on until the switch is midway between the middle and bridge position...you would think that when paying for a repair this is something they would figure out easily. Complete waste of money. I also asked them to take a look at a fret-buzz and they fully forgot so that was also somewhat annoying (I paid for a setup and repair). Guitar was exactly the same when I got it back down to the same exact fret-buzz. I was so dissatisfied that I refused to even drive back there to get a refund. Ultimately, untrustworthy. I believe whoever did the "repair" was deceitful to me. Now in all fairness, this was a few years back and the same people may not be working there anymore...I just thought of it again when I had to repair the exact same issues myself.

Bob Kain was demeaning, rude, and shockingly unprofessional…read more As we teach privately and rent several instruments to our students, my husband and I were looking for new violins in which to invest. We found a few on Craigslist. We also found Country String Shop on Google and popped in for a look. Bob seemed a kind---albeit anxious---man. He shuttled us towards his most expensive violins in the thousands of dollars range and seemed annoyed when I asked about his less expensive violins. We tried several and went home to consider a Vuillaume copy though it was more expensive than we had wanted to spend. Later, I went to try a Strad copy from a Craigslist seller and learned that the Vuillaume copy at Country String Shop was actually his on consignment, which was merely an interesting point. A few days later, I returned to Bob Kain's and left a substantial deposit to try out two violins and several bows over a weekend, per purchasing protocol. I have never known any serious musician to purchase an expensive instrument or bow without first testing them in various acoustic settings. That Sunday, my husband and I performed with several different violins we were considering in a large hall at a local church that Sunday to test the performance power of each violin. The Strad copy easily outperformed the rest and was worth most for its price at only several hundred dollars. We purchased that one and a different Craigslist seller's Strad copy whose value-to-cost ratio was also extremely high. Despite not desiring to purchase either of his two violins at this time, we decided to purchase a case, bow, and strings from Bob to thank him for his time. Upon returning the instrument, I was only able to say, "Unfortunately" before Bob yelled at me, "I just knew you weren't going to buy this violin from me! You played me for a fool! You just needed a violin to play over the weekend! [Owner of Strad copy] came in earlier today and I know what games you guys are playing. You never were going to buy anything from me!" He threw my deposit check at me and stormed off. I was thunderstruck and never got a chance to thank him for his time and make the bow, case, and strings purchase. As we own five instruments and have numerous friends who would happily lend us violins were we in need, I must say we did not "just need a violin to play over the weekend." Had the Vuillaume copy strikingly outperformed the other violins we were considering, we would have made the purchase. Bob's accusations were misdirected and unfortunate. He later went on to tell other customers that I bought a violin from him and then returned it and demanded my money back. This is a complete fabrication, and I can show every carbon copy of my checkbooks and credit card history showing I never made such a purchase. Perhaps he decided that my deposit money was purchase money, but that would be highly delusional, as he gave me a receipt saying "Deposit for violin and 3 bows," not "Purchase." If he did believe my deposit to be a purchase, I believe he would have given me a purchase receipt of some sort. Akin to Wyatt True's review, Bob treated me terribly for having had two brief impersonal encounters with me as a customer. Despite being a small man, his volatile behavior and lack of professionalism put me in quite a fright. Needless to say, we cannot recommend this business to you.

Over the years Tab Books for: "Faking ", Slide Guitar for beginner to Professional, Blues Books and books that make this 'Old Hippey' feel good! Recently: Kalimba, An Original Hugh Tracy Kalimba; and a Heart Shaped Mbira; both known as an African Thumb Piano, mine; had one years ago, lost it. Now, i have two. There are 'stores' in Springfield that sell to The Musician, Professional Musician; God Spare You from The Righteous Indignation if you're not in that League. Stay Out. NOBODY in my metropolitan area of 6 million plus had it. So I called Bob, who said he would set the guitar aside for me. Road Trip! The next day, we took the 3 hour journey, and met Bob in his small shop. Prior to our arrival, he had set the guitar up for me. After 30 minutes of playing, the sale was made.
