Recently he was treated unfairly and dismissively simply because he didn't fully understand or use the "woke" language they seemed to expect. He was forced to quit by the company because he wouldn't call people partners instead of friends. Instead of showing patience, kindness, and respect--which should be the bare minimum in any service business--the staff singled him out, embarrassed him, and ultimately made him feel unwelcome. Watching someone with a disability be discriminated against in this way was heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. Coffee shops are supposed to be warm, inclusive spaces where people feel comfortable. What happened here was the opposite. Regardless of personal views or buzzwords, every person deserves dignity, especially someone who may struggle to navigate complicated social expectations. Until management takes accountability and trains their employees in genuine inclusivity, compassion, and disability awareness, I cannot recommend this place. There are many other cafés that manage to serve great coffee and treat all customers with basic humanity.
