Been here two times now, so thought I would drop a review. I like trying local coffee places and this one in a strip mall setting is not much from the outside but worth checking out as the inside is very spacious and welcoming. They try hard and make some nice custom espresso drinks hot and cold. I enjoyed my standard hot Americano to go but note that the lids are a little wonky so be careful that they are on snuggly before drinking. They decorate the place at various times of the year and I enjoyed the Harry Potter theming during halloween times. The workers are super friendly. read more

You won't get too much better than Basecamp for your coffee. As an iced americano aficionado, theirs is consistently one of the best in NW Arkansas. It can be absolutely delicious. Whatever they do with their espresso/water ratio is perfect. Baristas are all talented, they always get it right. Now, look, absolutely critical to any coffee shop (or restaurant) is comfortable and available seating. This is something that a vast majority of coffee shops in NWA do not understand. Basecamp does have okay seating, it can get crowded, but there are comfortable options. I like being outside if I can, and their patio furniture could use an upgrade. It's certainly good enough, though. read more

This was my first visit here and I really enjoyed it. The staff was nice and patient while I decided. I like that they carry local syrups and chocolates. They had a small selection of pastries but a nice menu of coffee, tea, and seasonal drinks. They also had breakfast bites that all sounded good. I tried a cold brew and ricotta toast with honey, almonds, and fig jam. It was delicious and made within minutes. The coffee shop is spacious with plenty of tables, although most are wood or metal, so not the comfiest. Prices were average but they do have a rewards program and student and a military discount. It was a nice and quiet atomsophere, so great for studying and work. No all day free wifi though. They give you a code with purchase for 2 hrs of wifi. read more

They have an interesting drink selection. Lots of different coffee flavors, limited types of tea, and some smoothies. The baked goods selection was very limited. They offered pumpkin bread and a gluten free version. I think they may be understaffed. I waited 30+ minutes for a pretty simple order and it was not very busy. I think they would benefit from telling customers if they should expect a long wait. The lady taking orders was very kind and the barista was apologetic but I do think they need more staff. The atmosphere is very nice and this place has the potential to be a great coffee shop. The coffee however is another story. I came in to get a cappuccino and received one with burnt milk because of how hot the milk was steamed. There were black air bubbles on top of the drink and I couldn't carry the ceramic mug because of how scalding it was. read more

Basecamp is one of my favorite coffee shops in northwest Arkansas. They roast their own coffee and have the most kindhearted staff. It's the perfect place to work or study as there are outlets all over the place! Even at the tables in the middle of the coffee shop, there are power strips you can pull down from pulleys hanging from the ceiling so that you never have to worry about laptop or phone batteries dying. The coffee is excellent and they have tasty bites and pastries if you need something small to tide you over between meals! read more

I have had very unpleasant experiences at Basecamp. After going several times I had rude experiences with employees who were very short and changed their wifi to not be free so I stopped going in for those reasons. I had some friends recently ask to meet there which I did. After meeting them female owner of the shop was very rude and not accepting of the LGBT community. I have no problem with Christian establishments but it is clear that this one is one of exclution and rudeness which is super disheartening. read more

Every time I have gone in here, which has been a couple of months now, the employees have been rude and not welcoming. Basecamp is a very good coffee shop! The drinks are in the upper tier, and there's lots of good seating, including some comfortable seating! The only weakness, I believe, is the food. I came for some coffee and a study session/meeting. I found it a bit strange to only offer WiFi for two hours after your purchase. I had a zoom meeting that would go about 3 hours so I had to go elsewhere. Although, even if they provided endless WiFi access I don't know if it would have worked. I couldn't load a zoom recording on YouTube and had trouble with internet speed throughout my visit. Overall, it seems like a fine place to grab a coffee but I wouldn't advise trying to use this place for WiFi. It is also pretty loud, so if you have trouble studying with sound I would suggest elsewhere. The coffee was good and the food ok. read more

The coffee here was excellent but the cookie was dry and old tasting. The customer service was poor. Who is training these people? Two workers on a Saturday at 1 pm. Many customers. Long wait. Not rude, but not friendly. One lady walked in and was not even acknowledged for a few minutes until she finally just asked a question. One guy filling orders while the woman put dishes away. Not very good situational awareness. As we left, my husband said, "Have a nice day!" The young man did not even look up and said very tiredly, "you as well." Coffee shops should be fun and friendly! I've visited base camp about 4-5 times. First time the staff was very friendly. The following 4 times everyone behind the counter was fairly offstandish/unfriendly which made me uncomfortable to order. The atmosphere just doesn't feel welcoming as other coffee shops, including the folks who hang there. I really do enjoy their coffee and breakfast products, though, so I may continue to drop in and endure the awkwardness. I'd want to give it 3.5/5, but yelp is yelp. ‍ I also again think their actual food and drinks rock, but when there's so many options in NWA for friendlier & more welcoming cafes... that experience matters a bunch. read more

Decent coffee and tea menu. There are two separate dining rooms and the place is usually packed with college students. Service was nice and prompt, waiting no longer than 5 mins for a coffee when there were a few people ordering on front of me. I was there when they first opened and had a tour BEFORE they opened. Was friendly, great coffee, a business with a mission. Now they have little time to be friendly, inviting, act like they are all serving a greater cause. I get better service, treated like an appreciated guest, and receive better coffee just down the street. Their baristas, even if they've never seen you before smile, welcome you, and act like they actually enjoy their job. They also don't act like you are an inconvenience to the conversation they were having with their coworker. What's sad is I knew the staff, manager, and even attended the church behind this. Now they lost their local community impact for a cash cow attitude. The customer base too, like another review mentioned is very homogeneous. You'd think they would realize that their "mission" includes each and every customer that comes to their counter and make an effort to make the atmosphere inviting to those not already part of their "group". Mama Carmen's ranks somewhere in the middle for NWA coffee shops. Their coffee drinks are good but the variety is limited. Their beans are decent but nothing to write home about. The quality of the service is decent but it doesn't stand out. What I really like about Mama Carmen's is its physical space. There's a really pretty/funky mural on the outside of the building. The acoustics inside are good - you can hear the person sitting across from you, and I wasn't overwhelmed by other conversations. There are plenty of big tables and electric outlets, making it a perfect place to study. I stayed for maybe an hour with no hassle to leave. There are also fair-trade items for sale. All in all, I recommend Mama Carmen's for the space. The coffee is alright, though there is better in NWA. read more

This place is fantastic. They roast their own beans, and in the south, you just don't find a lot of those 'boutique' coffee shops. Couple that with their Fair Trade Coffee,a nd you have a great place to get a coffee with a conscience. Be prepared for a large U of A crowd, but that group is always fun. I absolutely love Mama Carmen's. I love the atmosphere and how much seating is available, so it's always good for a large group setting! The coffee is exceptionally good and such a great quality.
