Stop in here for a breathtaking view of the Peshtigo from one of the picturesque foot bridges that criss cross the numerous islands and side channels and the entrance of Swamp Creek into the Peshtigo. The islands themselves have quaint little cabins that can be used to protect your food from the insects and the elements during a summer picnic, party, or family reunion. There are numerous grills and firepit/grills with chimneys. These things are so cool! The park looks like it should be teaming with trout because it is home to every type of prime trout habitat. Within 100 yards there are rapids, riffles, pools, runs, pocket water, sand and boulder structure, timber, and more. However, I have yet to ever see much less hook into anything. But it is nice to enjoy such a beautiful scene. There is a trail that connects this park to Goodman Park. Be careful to go left when nearing the beaver dam, as the trail skirts the damn, and it is treacherous if you are in a hurry.

We stayed at the Peshtigo outpost, but did activities at both Peshtigo and Menominee outpost. At the Peshtigo outpost, there are camping facilities for any level of camper. Tenting to cabin with bathroom and kitchen. Let me start with the booking... they were so fantastic at setting up a great itinerary for us for our short stay! The zipline was awesome, and the views were beautiful! We did the rafting at Peshtigo in single person rafts and it could not have been more fun and picturesque! The alpine tower was tricky for me, but not for the rest of my group, they soared through it! EVERY SINGLE guide we had was so friendly and so kind! We can't wait to come back and stay longer! Where to begin...hmmm. First off, my husband and I have been coming to Shotgun Eddys for the past…read morefew years, and we absolutely love it there! Above all else, we look forward to coming there every year, and we are thankful for the employees/owners who help run and operate such a wonderful place. It's a place that's been around for many, many years, and the experiences you enjoy are proof as to why it's still here. Many reviews claim it's dangerous, that the employees don't give proper instruction, or that there is too much nature....in nature. To that, I would say this is not some lazy river in the dells. This is out in the wilderness, and you are warned of the dangers and sign a waiver before being allowed to raft. Do not come here expecting someone to hold your hand and guide you through every paddle you take. You are one your own after they drop you off ( you are, however, picked up at the end) . If you have cell service, they have an emergency number to contact them....but if you dont have cell service its not their fault, blame your phone company. Though you are given instructions on which sides of the river are better to take depending on the start and finish( and a map...which is prerty straigh forward...stay to the left/center until you past the first rapid to avoid the strong current of the streams on the right. After that, stick to the center until you come to the bridge at the end where you stay to the right before going over the last rapid.) You are also given a helmet and a life vest that they make sure fit you well before you are sent out. As well they tell you what to do and how to sit in the raft when going over rapids, or if by chance you fall out. Though advice does not prevent you from accidents or injury, you also can not blame the staff/owner on what mother nature herself has built and constructed and that you are fully willing to venture down. On that note, if you are camping there or just rafting, you are in the wilderness, not in some resort! There will be bugs, but this also means that there will be plenty of wildlife to be seen as well. If bugs are the worst of your worries, this place is not for you! We go there knowing there are risks involved, but then again, what good things in life don't have risks? Also, no one has ever forced us to go. We happily go each year and look forward to it. We aren't some super experienced white water rafting people, we only go once a year here. I will say if the water is low that you'll have to work a little harder to get past some rocks, and if it's high that going over the rapids may seem scarier, but you are provided a helmet and life jacket for a reason. We pay attention to the water and work together to navigate over the rapids as best we can (again just amateurs) , and we've never had anything more than a little bruise here or there. Everyone is different, though, and can do things differently from how we do. But you can not blame the business for your own actions on the river or any injuries when you are fully warned and again...sign a waiver knowing full well of the possible dangers on your trip. Too many people write reviews telling of bad experiences that sound more like someone who doesn't know what the true outdoors are like and wasn't prepared to rough it a little. Overall, this place is amazing, the campsite is well maintained and cozy, and the rafting brings adventure and many fun memories for those willing to take on the task. This place is one of a kind and will give you moments of a lifetime. But again, don't come if you're not willing to deal with the outdoors, paddling, or if you're looking for some wisconsin dells Waterpark resort. A group of 4 of us decided on a whim to go whitewater rafting, and it ended up being such a fun…read moreday! The day before our trip, Kosir's called to let us know the water levels on the Peshtigo were low and offered to switch us over to the Menominee instead. I really appreciated that they called ahead and gave us options to make sure we still had a great experience. When 2 more friends decided to join us a day before, they had no problem adding them to our reservation. The whole process was super easy from start to finish. Our guide, Mike, was amazing. He had us laughing the entire trip and was constantly telling jokes, and I felt completely safe the whole time. He answered all of our random rafting questions and was really knowledgeable about the river. The Menominee was a blast, and Mike made sure we got the full experience. The rapids were a ton of fun, we got to jump in and swim in the river, and he even took us "surfing" on the rapids. They also had a professional photographer (shoutout to Michael!) taking photos throughout the trip. Looking through the pictures afterward and seeing everyone's facial expressions was honestly hilarious, and he got the photos uploaded so quickly that we were able to start sharing them almost immediately. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kosir's. Great communication, super accommodating and friendly staff, and an all-around awesome experience!

It has everything from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, ATVs, you name it... The campgrounds are set up for small/individual groups to larger groups. Volleyball, hammocks a basketball hoop and other fun things are all around. The cabins are very clean and nice, AC/heat, private bathrooms and showers with nice hot water. Comfortable beds and linens. Then there is the awesome bar and restaurant. Order the Pizza or flatbread, it is excellent, and being from Chicago we know pizza! Eric is a fantastic cook and anything on the menu will taste great. The bar offers all sorts of beers and any other drink you want. Eric and Tom run this place, they know the area well and Eric is an expert on just about anything outdoors. Very friendly place and people. The mountain biking is awesome and if you are a mountain biker you MUST make this trip. The trails in the Nicolet National Forest are some of the best in the Midwest. Beautiful, single track, a bit technical in places, boulders, and the scenery is always beautiful. You may even see a black bear. Trails are well marked in the Nicolet. Rafting the Wolf River is exciting too, or you can kayak it as many kayakers come from all over the Midwest to kayak here. We are rafters, we love it, usually see a bald eagle or 2, lots of turtles, and just a great time. We like to go to Herb's Rafting which works out of Crab and Jacks, a bar/restaurant where a lot of motorcycle riders stop. It is always fun around Memorial Day when there are tons of kids camping at Bear Paw and then rafting the river. They get out at Crab and Jacks where there are numerous Harley Davidsons and riders watching all of this. Quite the different groups of people doing what they enjoy. Thanks to Eric for being such a great guy and Tom with some stories....oh boy, get Tom to tell you some stories... he loves that .... Thornton's was our campsite and cabin site, our caterers, our watering hole and our rafting guides. I could not have been more pleased with their services and I found their pricing to be extremely reasonable. As a first time camper as an adult, I found their site very clean, well maintained and quiet. Well, quiet after 2am. The Saturday night DJ made turning it in early near impossible. His chose selections which appealed to everyone. The songs kept the crowding growing and going. Definitely a great time had by all and we agreed there is a return trip in our future. *** wifi is available near the bar area but we were all unable to use it because no one knew the code. It's frustrating but also helpful. It forced us all to pry ourselves away from technology temporarily.
