Bear Lake Veterinary Clinic is a rare vet-owned and operated clinic, unlike so many that have sold out. What this means is good old-fashioned care at reasonable prices. I always appreciated their care. The way they treated me on the final day of my fur baby's life is something I will never forget. I had been in a month before assessing my (almost) 19-year-old Maltese, and while my mother, sister, and mother-in-law were all vocal that "it's time", my husband and I wanted to do her end-of-life care at home. On the final day, I called the vet's office and asked for a different cough medicine because it wasn't working anymore. Jessica was super kind, and I felt like she almost felt sorry for me because it was clear to everyone that we were holding on way past time. She kindly said she would get with the vet and call me back. I called her again with another follow-up piece of information about the cough's increasing intensity. And finally, when my husband and I faced the fact that she was likely in heart failure or in some other way at risk of a painful death (TMI to list all symptoms here) - I called a 3rd time and could barely utter the words "hi, it's Nellie's mom again. It's time". That was all I could get out. She didn't ask questions; she only facilitated a time that was best for me. We brought Nellie in, and the veterinary assistant and the vet could not have been any more compassionate and reassuring. I've had two other dogs, one euthanized over 10 years ago, and another one died in the OR, and no other vet and team was this compassionate. The kicker, I just received a handwritten card from their doctor and staff. I really don't have time to be writing a novel today as I prepare for a trip and on Super Bowl Sunday before company comes, but for those who are fed up with the corporate-run, money-first, pet-last, pushy clinics, this is the place to go. read more

We have been going to this vet for nearly a year now and unlike previous vet's we had that were always trying to upsell or were not nice, this vet clinic is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and takes the time to answer all my questions and concerns. From Jessica in the front desk, to Dr. Campbell and Dr. Baker! We recently had to get our dog Teddy's teeth cleaned and we were nervous of him going under anesthesia and because he has a small, abnormal trachea, they were so gentle with him. I also emailed the clinic with my concerns and they were quick to address each one. Teddy, our rescue, had to unfortunately have 4 teeth extracted but otherwise he did well and was taken care of. They are also upfront about their costs and I ask them to give me estimates so I can budget for expenses accordingly. I recommend this clinic and it sits right in the border of Apopka and Altamonte Springs so it's convenient! read more

Our Bruno had his first visit here yesterday and I brought my toddler along for the ride. They were SO friendly, accomodating and kind. The gave me estimates before doing anything and didnt give me a hard time AT ALL about not doing everything suggested.. even had a tech help me out to my car with Bruno. SO FRIENDLY. Everyone had a smile on their face, the office was clean and organized. We are excited to have a vet so close to home that seems to love our Bruno as much as we do! read more

this place is absolutely nuts with their prices! i have an elderly cat that will need to be put to sleep...they want $70 for the vet just to look at the cat, another $290 for the euthanasia, notwithstanding the return of her ashed which would be another 100+ these people don't care about a suffering animal...they only care about money!! how disgraceful!@ read more

I love this clinic! As a first-time puppy owner, I had a lot of questions, and every team member took all the time I needed to feel comfortable and have all my questions answered. Bear Lake Veterinary Clinic took such good care of my baby girl. I have a small Papillon who is very fearful of strangers but they took their time and were very gentle. They took the time to listen to all my concerns and questions. They ran test, caught her up on all her shots and gave me a great deal for stocking up on all her meds. The office was clean and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You can really tell the staff here really love what they do and care for your fur babies just as much as you do. We have had degrading service with the ongoing reaction to the pandemic. It seems like the priority is more to mandate restricting guidelines on the clients than to treat the pets. The last time I was in I was treated like a disease myself and honestly I am not sure I will ever be back. It is super convenient as far as proximity to my home but when you can't build a relationship with your vet due to their restrictions on clients rooted in fear it is not exactly conducive to a healthy working relationship or even trust. read more

Just saw Dr. Baker and I'm so glad we chose this clinic. The whole staff was amazing. They all collaborated to make sure our visit went well. They took the time to ask questions and answer them too. I brought my kitty in after making an appointment the same morning. I was greeted the second I walked in, and told the Veterinarian had an emergency come in so I would need to wait a few minutes. Not 15 minutes later I was taken into a room and met the veterinarian. She was so pleasant, and caring. Ran tests on my kitty, and came back with options for her care. I was never kept waiting long, and I got the sense that she really cares about the animals. I'll be bringing both kitties in to see her again. read more

As a local employee, I've known about this establishment for a while and even before visiting for our 2 cats I had met some of the amazing staff. Since my husband and I only have Saturdays off together (and we wanted to take care of our 'gatos' together) it was wonderful to be able to get a Saturday appointment. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write a review for Bear Lake Veterinary Clinic, but I don't want to pass up the opportunity to give Dr. Campbell and her staff another great review. I rarely give 5 stars, but there is nothing else I could possibly give to this wonderful clinic. Dr. Campbell and her staff are amazing, and they take such good care of my kitties, like they're members of the family. And they always remember each one and their special differences and personalities, and always give them the best care. One kitty had been having an on and off skin irritation for several years, and now with Dr. Campbell's careful attention to the symptoms, along with medication and a new diet she is completely better! And this clinic won't try to manipulate you into getting tests and services your babies don't need. I brought one kitty thinking he needed a dental cleaning, and Dr. Campbell said his teeth were fine and could wait until his annual checkup. I have been fortunate enough to have had Shellie Campbell as my furry babies' vet for 15 or more years now. I would follow her anywhere she goes. She is an excellent diagnostician and surgeon and has the biggest heart for my pets that I could ever hope for. She has operated on my guinea pig and gave him extra years of life and my beloved basset hounds. I only wish she would treat people too and I would sign up as her patient! They were really nice and the vet was kind to my dog. The only thing I felt was crazy was the waiting... if you didn't have an appointment and you just walk in with your pet, you will be waiting for hours...but it was worth the wait! Love the feel of the office as well read more

Dr. Campbell and Brooke are amazing. I've been going there over a year now, and sent my best friend there when her cat was dying, and we've consistently seen effective as well as compassionate care. They spend unhurried time with you and your pet, and they literally 'meet the animal where they're at' (for example they don't insist my dog get on the exam table if it's not necessary). The other thing I really appreciate is it's not about the money here and it was at the last two vet practices I was at. The happiness and welfare of you AND your pet are the clear priority. Not that it's inexpensive, but if you don't want to do something you're not going to get a sales push from Dr. Campbell. For the dying 18 yo kitty, another vet had recommended invasive and expensive procedures and my distraught friend just wanted to make him comfortable (and also knew he periodically had these episodes). Dr. Campbell partnered with her on his care and he recovered just fine. She recently recommended an effective solution for his unhappiness with other cats in the house which my friend didn't even specifically ask about (it came up in a general exam conversation). To me that's the highest praise I can give, that Dr. Campbell and her staff will partner with you on the care of your furry family member. read more

I don't trust my puppies with anyone else except Dr. Campbell and her gang! Bruno loves coming to the vet and getting that hands on treatment...He loves all that attention from the ladies. Polly is a little more reluctant, but Dr. Campbell is great about making sure she gives that stubborn little Minpin a complete exam and a little love to boot. They've both developed health issues over the past year, and Dr. Campbell has been great about explaining options and how I should manage their problems (diabetes for Bruno and thyroid for Polly). Since she explains everything so clearly, I feel like I can take care of them better and I know what questions to ask on our visits. I am so sad that I found Dr. Campbell shortly before I am moving. I have lived in Orlando for two and a half years and have bounced around to a couple of vets without ever being completely satisfied. My animals are my babies and Dr. Campbell and her staff treated my dog Indy with such care. My dog had a minor surgery and Dr. Campbell and her staff did an excellent job taking care of him.
