I am sure some others have had an ok experience but please also consider they give a 3% discount for a positive Yelp review (it is advertised on their website. Red flag I should have noticed! Dangit.) We had a saga and it took months to resolve (and my house still isn't fixed completely): -Hired to replace drywall in my living room (ceiling and front wall, part of which was around a window) along with painting and texturing. They also removed texturing throughout the main part of my house and were supposed to do a light orange peel texture (because they couldn't do smooth) and paint. The fact that they couldn't do smooth really should have tipped me off...but there were many things being fixed and they were the only bidder who had a good plan for the ceiling - if only they could have excuted it! -Did the work, which was a somewhat challenging time because I couldn't communicate with the two people doing the work. I think they spoke Korean? and may have been the owner (Grace Kim)'s parents? Grace spoke English and another family member, Wonha did but they were only onsite briefly and periodically. Like when everything went wrong -The main problem (at first) was multiple joints still showing where the ceiling was replaced. I let Grace know and she agreed it was incorrect and sent the same two people back to fix it. Another couple of days of basically not being able to use my house and it looked better, for sure, but not great. Grace came back to do an inspection and said it looked "beautiful" and that "ceilings are hard, it is not going to get any better than that." She offered me a $300 discount. I told her I was not going to pay the second half of the amount owed because the job was not done. The joints were still obviously showing. -Other problems included: the drywall on the front wall was not replaced correctly, so there is significant bowing above a window that takes up much of that wall. -The ceiling texture was applied incorrectly so it looks like crap; another contractor said they didn't have enough air when they applied it? I don't know. Also, in their effort to "hide" the joints that were still obvious, they applied a whole lot more texture so some areas are even uglier with thicker texturing. They didn't cover the walls when they applied the texture so it dripped down onto the walls. -They used some kind of glossy paint so all of this is even more obvious. -They messed up painting in two areas, so there is a wall that needs to be repainted. After I refused to pay, I had to go through the process of filing a complaint with the Nevada State Contractors Board. They were great but this was annoying, time consuming, and dragged out an already long process of getting my house fixed and livable. Eventually, after an inspection with Grace present (where she suggested ways they could make it better - hmmmm, Grace, why didn't you already try those things? Like painting with a flat paint), a Notice to Correct was issued and SCK had 30 days to fix all the problems. Because it's so hard to hire contractors these days, I was informed an extension would likely be granted. Because they'd done it incorrectly and already tried to fix it once, so obviously could not do it correctly, I opted for the solution where SCK chooses and pays another contractor to do the work. I also got 3 estimates from other drywall contractors, each of whom pointed out more problems with SCK's work. (I had also gotten one that I submitted with my complaint to the NSCB). Eventually SCK ended up refunding the first half that I'd already paid them to settle this and be done with it. Although I would have preferred to have this actually done correctly, to the NSCB's approval, I was really, REALLY ready to be done with SCK and this process. The estimates I have gotten make me think it will take just as much money to fix what they did as it would have for them to just do the job correctly - I am just hoping it's not more. If you read this far, congratulations! Do yourself a big favor and choose someone else to do your painting and drywall! I will say they did a good job removing popcorn texture so maybe you could take a chance with that.

I procured four separate bids from painting companies that were all over the place. SCK Painting's bid was mid-range, and fairly priced for the quality of work. I plan to use Grace and her team for exterior painting work which I'll likely complete within then next few years. I would recommend SCK Painting to anyone interested in exceptional painting services throughout Reno at a competitive price.

New Era was one of the few that got back to me and bid the job on short notice, and their price was reasonable. They showed up, did the job, and when I asked them to replace any damp insulation and charge me extra, they went above and beyond, even going to buy a new roll of insulation and charging me zero extra except the cost of the materials. If that wasn't enough, when they found out that I was replacing the roofing myself, they gave me a bunch of advice, dropped off some extra flashing and vent covers I was missing (again, free of charge), loaned me some tools, and even showed up and showed me some tricks to shingling valleys about midway through the job. Excellent service, can't recommend highly enough.

They were prompt in coming out but the bid was exceptionally high. My husband and I were in Real Estate and Property Management for 30+ years in the area (He is a Retired Broker). We have had roofs fixed and replaced over the years. We had a roof replaced a few years back on a home for around $20K and they did a great job. This estimate was for almost $12K for a leak fix. Reading the repairs that they were going to do made no sense at all, it was over-kill. And then to get a note back after my complaint telling me the same thing listed on the estimate still made no sense. It was an easy request, "just fix the leak", no extra this or that unless you can prove it. We had three other estimates from top Roofers in Reno take a look at it. The lowest bid was $1,400 and the highest was $1,800. This is way off from the almost $12,000 I was quoted. We were looking for a fair deal and therefore, we will chose one of the other companies. One of them has done exceptional work in the past but they do get busy. That is the main reason I was getting more estimates since it is hard to wait when you have a leak. But if I save ten grand, I can wait. The picture shows proof of the estimate and the charges minus my personal information. I will let you decide if you should use this Roofer.

He took measurements and had an estimate to me in two days. The price was very reasonable and the finished product was outstanding The crews for each segment of the project were very professional and polite. If a question arose, it was reassuring to always be able to hear from Bill or Darla, office manager. The project involved removing a concrete driveway and replacing the material with pavers. I then added steps and Bill's expertise and knowledge resulted in a lovely conclusion. The owner, Ricardo checked in frequently and added constructive changes, if needed. The project took ten days because of weather delays - snow, otherwise it would have been finished in four days. I was so pleased with the driveway that I had the company address my stamped concrete patio in back. First they power washed it , then re stained and sealed the entire area. I talked to their iron-welding expert , Jeremy who came up with creative ideas for hand rails for both the front and back. I'm very pleased with the results of both projects. Based on that experience, they earned an easy 5 stars... at first. Unfortunately, things went downhill when I called back to schedule the work. The admin I originally spoke with was on break, and the person who answered was shockingly rude from the start. I explained I was calling to get on the schedule and mentioned I already had a check issued to the company for the roofing work as part of my home closing. Instead of clarifying their process, she immediately told me that's "not how they work" and that she could decide whether or not the company would take my business. What stood out most was that she said all of this without even asking for my name, address, or any project details. The conversation felt dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. She laughed during the call, placed me on hold without explanation, and returned with the same condescending tone. Only after all of that did she finally ask for my information. I later learned she is not the owner, just someone who has worked there a long time -- which honestly makes the interaction more concerning. Long tenure should come with professionalism, not hostility toward potential customers. It's disappointing because my first impression of ABC Roofing was excellent. One negative interaction shouldn't outweigh a company's good work, but it did in this case. Customer service is part of the experience and I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously, because behavior like this can easily cost future business. Giving 1 star because I can't give 0. In the end, I chose another roofing company that charged more but treated me with professionalism and respect from start to finish. That difference in service made the decision easy.
