Requested a quote for both exterior and interior painting and repair. The salesman/estimator said it would be 4-6 weeks before the work could be done. After Bear Mountain painting received the down posit they said the earliest they could do it was 12 weeks. Additionally, the cost of the project was twice the original estimate. They said they offered a 10% discount. They did not apply the discount to the increased price even though the project manager said we would get about $500 off the additional $5,000 dollars worth of work. The project manager then recanted that statement in a follow-up phone call. This is a dishonest company that knows how to jack up the price after they get the job. Buyer beware. read more

We started using Bear Mountain years ago. Last time their crew was here they got paint on a shade and instead of telling me about it they turned it around. Quite frankly, I had no time to deal with this matter. They reallllllly push for those Google Reviews. The last time they did an amazing job on my basement and Christian did it. I obviously got lucky. I noticed Nick keeps saying he looks for people in his database and they are not there when they leave an unhappy review. Maybe he needs a new database. No one ever followed up about the shade by the way and I am a busy person that doesn't want another problem. So, it's still there and I can see the paint. I guess I am now the one throwing shade. I am a homeowner and DIYer of over 25 years. They painted the trim on our new house in the spring of 2022. The paint on the front door and trim around the garage doors began to bubble in less than a year. When they repainted the door it looked like something on a haunted house. It looked old and painted over. They used way too much paint and didn't clean up. They painted the door a third time with the same result. They painted the door a fourth time, which was much better, but we don't want anything to do with them again. I can already see paint fading on the trim near the roof one year later after the initial paint job. When they repainted the garage door trim, the worker showed me where there was no primer underneath the paint. I was told the first time that they would use primer if there weren't any from the builder. That worker demonstrated that they did not, as they were the ones to paint it last. I doubt they used primer the second time - I wasn't watching. The fourth time they painted the door, they painted the interior because the third job had made a mess. They used a can of paint they found in my garage without asking. It didn't match. They tried to tell me the paint around the door and the rest of the room didn't match because it faded. (It's only four years old;) They told me sunlight made the door and door hardware fade. It had been a year but the issue was bubbling paint and an extraordinary sloppy paint job. Twice. There was no fading and I never mentioned fading. They were upset we said the door hardware was ruined from them painting on it and tried to charge us to fix it. Ernesto asked if I wanted the truth or a lie when I asked how the 4th time turned out so well. He said the other two times, the crew was not as detail oriented as the last crew. They knew this when they assigned them to work on our door. Twice. The original job and each redo was subpar. I was offered excuses that only an idiot would agree with. Now they "offered" to help with the door hardware by charging me more money. They will not touch our house again. We will not be paying for anymore of their services. If you couldn't get matching doors then you don't take the job. The salesman was great, but thats it. Company canceled first appointment. They showed up for 2nd appointment and did the job. I was told to keep cars off for 2 days. On the 3rd day while dollying my fridge the floors finish came off. 4th day after moving cars out dull spots where the tires where. Called and was told they would be out next week to touch up. Updated review: It's been a couple years since their work. It's just bad. The hall we had the ceiling replaced and repainted is chipping and the seams are quite visible. Our kitchen ceiling now has paint chipping everywhere. Unless you want to pay someone to redo their interior work, don't use them. And no, I don't want the company attempting to repair it. read more

We don't normally post reviews good or bad, but felt the need to do so in this situation. Bear Mountain Custom Painting performed a complete (ceilings, trim, walls, doors) interior job for us in June of 2020. (Our home was 6 years old at the time.) The workmanship, in our opinion, was of very poor quality. Upon contacting the owner, he immediately blamed the issues on the house settling prior to even viewing the issues. When he actually did visit our home several weeks later, he again stated that any issues were due to the house settling. When inquiring about his 36-month workmanship warranty, he claimed that he determined the workmanship was of good quality and we had waited too long to contact the company. We filed a BBB complaint which was answered with many contradictions. The BBB complaint was considered "resolved" simply because the owner responded to our complaint. We had no recourse but to file in civil court to try to recoup some of our losses. We won our case in civil court. The owner immediately appealed to state court. We reached out to the owner with an attempt to settle prior to state court with no success. We had no recourse but to hire an attorney to represent us in state court and are awaiting a trial date. In the fall of last year, after working less than 1 week on my siding job, Bear Mountain Custom Painting (BMCP) informed me that the job was costing them too much and that I would need to pay an additional $7500 (over my agreed contract price) to complete my project. BMCP had been contracted to replace siding with Hardie shingles, according to Hardie install specs. Their demand stopped my project cold, and when BMCP re-started, they did so with a different subcontractor crew. This crew worked much faster, but at the expense of damaging my home. As the damages piled up, I pointed them out to the crew and was told by BMCP's project manager that I needed to leave the crew alone and let him deal with the problems- he didn't. I continued to document damages, but was told they would not be "dealing" with most of them when BMCP was presented a list of damages. I declined to let them continue to damage my home and was told I would need to pay in full for the siding work, as well as a contract breakage fee for painting that was to occur after the siding project. In fact, BMCP threatened to put a lien on my home and sue me - if I did not pay in full. I ultimately did pay, but then found out they were not paying their subs when the crew supervisor showed up on my doorstep. I also found areas on my home where the crew had reverted to a non-standard, not previously agreed, installation method. I can only assume they were thinking I would never see the incorrect, non-agreed-to installation. BMCP finally offered me a discount, but only if I would sign an NDA to keep my experience private. Nick, I think you have no idea what went on with our project. your reply is the opposite of everything that occured. extra work order? you told us TWO coats would do it, accomodate our move? the movers put all first floor furniture in the garage so i lost money on them moving us... also the paint upgrade? again yiu said two coats and then it took three. We were told by Jared that Juan would be here the whole time with a second crew. Ricardo showed up the first day with two helpers and from then on one little old lady who he left here most days alone. The second crew came once for half a day. project started a day late bc ricardo was behind on another job and for whatever reason our contract which listed Juan was apparently not true. then the job went over by 4 days. i did a touch up request and that was so bad i just didnt call again. Nick please take a look at all the photos i emailed with the touch up request, i can paint better with no painting skills. we are totally depressed by the feeling we got completely ripped off by you guys. read more

Art (senior sales consultant) came out took pictures and notes. Sent contract over for $10,922. A page or two back said $1865 to paint deck floor. When he called I questioned that and he said deck painting was included in $10,922. When job was completed office said the $1865 is not included it is additional charge. In past I paid $7000 for all trim painting. Afternoon of first day owners son Zack came out and said Art missed quoted job and it wiill be an additional $6300. .Owner Rob came by and said Art made a mistake, but not on them. Misquoted work is on me. He was surprised the customer would expect them to absorb the mistake Art made. Never heard a word from Art (senior sales consultant) P.S They have not come back to replace the furniture and items they moved to paint which their contract says they do in 7-10 days after deck is painted. read more

I had some work done by them. It turned out they were extremely unprofessional and did work that looked like a kid did it. It was HORRIBLE! They painted my house with paint that did not match in color and also did work where they left my door on shed unable to close and the work they did on the shed had the boards uneven. After multiple calls to try to get them to correct it the company finally sent someone down on a day I was in vacation and we had a date set when I was returning. They totally ignored the date I set up and came when I was in vacation. I called and reminded them the day they were suppose to come. Later I get flooded with calls and emails from an angry worker saying he spent gas coming to repair it when if they were more organized they would have looked to see what day I set up. This worker seemed to have anger issues!! I'm begging you don't be mislead with this company. They come off as legitimate and a good company but you will see once they get your money you are out of luck. They sure tricked me! I only wish I would have came to Yelp and read the reviews and maybe I would have been spared. If you read the replies to their customers after they finish the job sloppy is very telling. They are condescending and do not have the attitude of wanting to correct the work or please the customer after they complain. The whole ordeal was stressful and all I wanted was the company to come and fix their shoddy work. I had to get another company who was honest and had integrity to come and correct the horrible mess they left. Which was more money! I didn't have a great experience with Bear Mountain. My job entailed painting the exterior of my house and several interior rooms. Once the crew arrived and started work, there was never anyone from the company that came by to supervise or communicate overall project status, and the crew members did not speak very good English. The crew head indicated they had found some exterior pieces of wood that needed to be replaced, however no one from the company provided updated costs for that work therefore when I got the bill at the end it was - surprise - 3X higher than the estimate. Also, about a week into the job when the crew had only been working only on the outside, a supervisor showed up and said they needed to be finished that day. So they did a very rushed/sloppy job with all the interior paint and patching (lumps and bumps in the wall, bathroom towel holders rehung incorrectly, etc). Overall I feel that they worked very hard to land my business but did not do a good job managing the job to make sure it was proceeding on schedule nor did a good job communicating with me, until they were ready to get paid. Based on my experience, I will not work with this company again in future. read more

Once again BMP is not telling the truth about the conversations or missed appointments. Nor are they telling the truth about the overall quality of the job. We have been incredibly patient and have accepted any extra costs to get the best quality job possible. At no point has anyone offered to come rectify this hence why we have left reviews. We have even had the warranty company they are using to replace our damaged screens tell us they cannot get BMP to return their calls. It is a shame because my main reason for using BMP was to use a local company and not a big name painter. Had I known their crews are subcontracted and clearly not happy working for them (hence the first crew leaving mid job because of a dispute with BMP over a previous job), I would have looked elsewhere. I have dozens of emails, texts, call logs, and pictures. Take a look at the bottom board on the wall. The whole board was replaced by BMP and only received one of the two coats we paid for. They told us they had ordered the windows for our house and that they were going to be there that weekend. We went ahead and paid ( mistake!) And we are still waiting on the windows 3 months later! We have recieved the run around since then. My husband and I have a bet as to whether they will ever actually finish. If they do, I will update this review to reflect that. We've used Bear Mountain for multiple projects. Most recently, we had our kitchen repainted, including the cabinets. We also had some damaged and rotted wood replaced outside. We are very happy with the results. Jared is always polite and willing to add or subtract items from the quote. Ivan and his helper were very neat in their work--I didn't have to clean up after they were here, which I really appreciate. Keenan checked on the progress and made sure everything was on track. One of the painters threw the remains of his lunch in my front bushes after they had their lunch break in the driveway. Another one of the painters was using his tobacco vaporizer in my house. Company denied it of course even though I saw him with my own eyes. Found some things that needed to be fixed after they left (runs in the paint, wall paint on the white ceiling where the roller went to high, etc.) but at that point I didn't want them returning to my home. Added 11/18/17: Just discovered that the more expensive "washable" paint I paid for is not washable. The paint they used came off the wall on the rag I was using to clean a spot. Let me start by saying I used Bear Mountain in the past. The painting part of their work was good, no issues. However, they also took on a ceiling drywall repair and repaint, that even after two trips was not good at all. I finally just gave up and said 'go'. I contacted them again via their webside in December of 2021 for an estimate to replace all exterior doors & windows, plus some smaller inside paint jobs. The sales consultant visited my home in early December, spent over an hour reviewing what I wanted done and measuring every door and window in my home. Another 2 weeks later I contacted him re: the promised estimate. He sent one estimate over for just one of the interior paint projects. when I inquired about everything else, he admited he had lost the window/door measurements and would have to come back to my home. This was right before Christmas, so I told him to contact me after the holidays. It's now February 1st and I've heard nothing. Needless to say, if this is the kind of attention to detail and customer service they deliver, I can't trust them as a vendor. I was already second guessing why I should contact them since my last project didn't end well. But now I know for sure. All the marketing you see, doesn't change the fact that they are higher than most and except for strictly painting projects---don't seem to deliver. read more

My mom lives in Cumming and I live in Orlando. I interviewed three painting companies and Bear Mountain Custom Painting gave me the most peace. Since I was not at the location, I asked them to work with me on getting this handled. They included me on all the contract and project dates. They are truly a professional painting company. Before starting the project they had a color coordinator come to my moms house to pick out colors. My mom was blown away at their detailed work and professionalism. After pressure washing, they scrapped each board on my mom's cedar home to remove the old paint. She loves everything about the results and how the crew handled themselves. They knocked on her door each morning to announce themselves before they began working. We would highly recommend them and appreciate the whole experience. read more

Before getting the exterior of our house painted, we got estimates from close to 10 companies. We had some pretty extensive rot on two front and one back window, and most companies suggested that we just using a wood bonding agent to hold all the remaining wood together. Bear Mountain suggested that we replace the whole sash on the three windows, completely removing the rot - which ended up being by far a better choice. The group of guys painting our house were on time every day and stayed late every night, and the one morning they were going to be 20 minutes late, I got a phone call from them notifying me that would be the case. We have a relatively large house, and from start to finish (not including the first day where they pressure wash) the whole project took four days. The painters and office staff at Bear Mountain were very knowledgeable and responsive, which from what I hear is a rarity. I definitely recommend Bear Mountain and would use them again. read more

Bear Mountain did a great job painting our family room. The painters where great, so why 3 stars? Because they painted the one wall in the kitchen the wrong color. When we talked to the sales person he assured us they could match the paint but somehow the color choice did not make it into the quote. I just assumed that the sales person would convey or that common sense would prevail but that was not the case. So now I have one wall a different color then the rest of the kitchen. When we called about the mistake we where told that the quote did not mention color matching. Then told us they would come out and fix it for a fee and that we would get a discount if we left a good review. I will own that i should not have assumed that they would do what the salesperson told us and we should have read the quote and realized that they didn't include that color in the quote and made sure it was in there before excepting it. I will also expect responsibility for assuming that a company would stand by what a salesperson told us. So by all means use them. They do great work but get everything in writing, every detail. Don't assume they will do what is stated verbally by the salesperson. read more

We hired BMCP to paint the majority of walls on one level of our home plus the ceiling in our kitchen. We have strange angles all through our home plus shadows and hard to see areas. They were very thorough on going back through the house making sure areas were covered and trim was smooth. We did point out a couple areas that could use another run over and they were happy to touch up. We did need to check on fixtures or vents. Those that we missed taking off were being taped to be painted around but we caught those in time to take them off. They did a great job fixing areas on the walls and ceiling that were damaged from old leaks and were surprisingly tidy even taking the popcorn ceiling down in those areas. In carpeted areas, there were very few platters or drips and the few that there were came up easily with a little goo gone. We're very happy with the job they did on some difficult areas and cleaning up after themselves when the job was done. I did notice that our garbage was full with paper they used to protect the floors. Not a deal breaker, but it would have been more convenient for us had they taken the garbage with them. Overall, we were very happy with the BMCP crew and the job they did. While they were here, we also received calls checking in with us to make sure everything was going well. They are definitely in the business of making sure their customers receive prompt, professional service. read more

We've used Bear Mountain for 3 painting projects, both interior and exterior, and have been very satisfied with the final results each time. When they came to do the estimate they listened to what I said we wanted and had a clear picture of the job and our expectations. The painting crew was very efficient and neat and they were respectful of our home and me. There was a little miscommunication between me and the crew and they ended up patching/painting some holes that I did not want filled or painted over. In addition, I have since found a few areas on the bathroom fixtures and on the floors along the baseboards where there is some very fine paint splatter that could have easily come off had it been wiped off right away. Other than these minor issues, the entire process went smoothly and everything looks beautiful. Overall, I am very satisfied with the finished results and will definitely contact Bear Mountain again for future home painting projects. Bear Mountain Custom Painting far exceeded our expectations in every aspect of this project. The job entailed painting the interior and exterior framing of two windows which had been replaced a month earlier plus re-painting the walls (2 coats) of an atrium foyer, and very large 2-story atrium family room, two stairwells, a large 2nd story landing area, and a dining room, plus intricate stairwell trim in the family room area, plus all 6 inch baseboards and door facings in all five rooms. Truly a major undertaking. First Jared Tuttle came by and we discussed in great detail exactly what the extent of the painting would be. Jared's expertise in materials and processes were invaluable in saving us time and money plus improving the final cosmetic results of the project. He knew much better than us how to get the most bang for our bucks and his suggestions turned out to be spot-on in the final outcome. The next day Jared emailed us the most detailed estimate and description of work we had ever received for any painting project, which included separate breakouts for optional items which we could use to meet our budget. I cannot over-stress the trustworthiness, professionalism, competency, and cooperativeness of every person we dealt with throughout this entire project, from Jared to the job foreman (Jeff) to the superb crew (Daniel & Rodrega) and, finally, the super-helpful office support of Sonja and Wendy. I'm serious, we've never experienced such competency and dedication (to customer satisfaction) as we enjoyed from every person we dealt with in this company. It's quite unusual to see such consistency throughout the personnel of any organization. Also I seriously doubt you will ever experience the clarity of understanding of what is to be done and exactly how and when and by whom it will be done as you will with this company. And the value of all this attention to detail becomes eminently obvious in the pleasure of the experience and the final results. On the ever sticky aspect of cost, I will say this ... Bear Mountain is not a low-ball contractor. If your only qualification is cost, I know from experience you will be able to find someone cheaper. We recently had Bear Mountain paint our living room, dining room, kitchen,stairway wall and ceiling. The customer service, job estimate, and pre-job work was very professional. The painters did a good job of covering furniture, flooring, and all associated fixtures. That being said, the actual painting was not as professional as I would have liked. The rep and I identified 18-20 areas during the walk through that needed touching up, some were quite obvious. After almost 3 weeks of no contact, I had to call and remind them about finishing. It was almost 4 weeks from the time the job was finished until the touch-up was completed, excessive to me. If I was there at initial finish, I would have not paid until completely satisfied (my wife paid them and hurriedly gave them excellent marks on their "report card"). Some of the rolled walls were touched up with brushes which was sort of odd to me since you can tell the difference after drying., not so professional. At this point I was done. If I have another painting project I think I will go with someone else as I cannot recommend this company read more
