We obtained 6 estimates for our exterior painting, deck painting and wood rot repair for our home in Cumming, GA and we hired Kimberly Painting. We went with them because Mark Sharpe, our Project Manager was very inclusive with the estimate. All colors could be changed and he was very detailed in what he thought we needed in wood rot repair. To us, it seemed like the other estimates had wide variances in what could be added during the project. A couple of things did come up throughout the project that were impossible to see high up on the house and he kept up communication, showed us pictures and explained what we needed in great detail. The team worked diligently, they were polite, the products used were very high quality and you can tell they take great pride in their work. One of the leads, Jeffrey made sure we were happy before they left and Mark followed up to make sure we were happy as well. If I could give Kimberly Painting higher than a 5 star rating...I would! I was in need of a painting company to repair wood rot, squirrel damage to wood, replace windows and do a quality exterior painting job to my home. I had several painting companies come to my home to give opinions and estimates and every one seemed less than professional, ethical, knowledgeable on repairs nor trustworthy in their mannerisms. I started researching online for the best painting company around the Atlanta area and every single search resulted in Kimberly Painting. Every review on every website from countless satisfied customers all said the same thing....that they are the best company for your home painting project needs. I reached out to them and spoke directly with the owner Mark, who promptly came over to my home to assess my home situation and gave his honest and professional opinion. He was so thorough and found things that other companies had missed that needed repair, as well as gave detailed explanation of every detail that would be needed, cost and time it would take to complete the project. I instantly felt comfortable, in every way, with Mark and knew he was 100% professional and took great pride in his work and company. Mark wrote up a quote for me and it was all inclusive with even his company replacing several windows in my home. We set the start date and on that day, his team showed up and were so kind, pleasant, respectful, punctual, and most of all PROFESSIONAL. They repaired everything perfectly. In the process of tearing off some wood rotted siding, they had accidently damaged and ripped an awning above my back deck door. Mark had me order a new one, which he paid for and had his crew replace it for me no problem. If there was the slightest detail that was accidently missed, after the project was completed, Mark had the crew return to fix the item or items, in a prompt manner, which I was beyond impressed with, especially since he had been paid in full by that time. Mark was wonderful at communication throughout the entire project. He was quick at returning texts and phone calls, even after he had completed my house project. As most people have experienced, like myself, having a crew return to fix a minor missed detail, after the final check has cleared , is nearly impossible....not with Kimberly Painting. Kimberly Painting is an excellent company to work with. A welcome change from some of the other typical companies out there. I work out of town and had to get some exterior house repair and painting done quickly. The Project Manager Mark was great to work with. He came out when he said he would. He gave me a very fair estimate, kept me posted unexpected things that happened, helped confirm color selection because the house is in an HOA, was able to fit me in and get the job done! Starting with the professional and thorough estimate, to the luxury of being able to schedule work that fit my time frame, to a beautiful job completion, Kimberly did everything right. Their estimate was fair and competitive. Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. The work performed by Jeffery and his crew was top-shelf. We had an exterior paint job for our 93 year-old house that included some tricky work. They were meticulous in their performance and did everything right the first time. They performed some carpentry repair to a few soffits that looks like it is part of the original design. It's hard to match up materials for a house that's almost a century old. My wife and I finally retired from "painting interior rooms ourselves" to hiring a professional painter. We hired painters for two differ projects a few years ago, but found their finished work to be just a little better than our work. So, this time we wanted to secure a quality painter at a reasonable price. Prior to selecting a painter, we did our "due diligence". Our process included using online and family/friends references. We considered numerous companies before picking our final four. Kimberly was one of the final four. Although they were not the cheapest bid we received, we selected Kimberly due to our criteria and having the company president completing our estimate and spending quality time responding to our questions. We are glad we selected them because -- -- The work was completed at the quoted price. We had a couple of walls that needed extensive repair and they did a fantastic job of making them look smooth again. -- First day was spent protecting our floors and belongings and none of our property was damaged during this process. -- The requested paint was used with leftover left for our use. -- A few omissions a and corrections were needed and they came back within a reasonable amount of time and corrected everything to our satisfaction. COMPETITION IS STIFF AND KIMBERLY NEEDS TO STEP IT UP! (Initial consult/estimate) I really wanted to have a positive experience with this company because they were first on my list when I wanted a painting estimate. I had interacted with them years ago when they were also in the roofing business and I had remembered it as a positive experience. I contacted their office and scheduled a contractor to come out and provide an estimate. This part of the process went well and the contractor came out within a couple of days as scheduled. Things just went downhill from there. First of all, I like a contractor who is very personable and easily talks because I don't want to have to try and figure out what is going on in his head. Also if we are entering into a working relationship, the dynamic is important. This contractor was a bit quiet for my taste and just didn't show much interest. He did a quick look without really examining anything, (my other guy was very hands-on and asked a lot of questions throughout). I directly asked him to go into the backyard so that I could point out a couple of things because I seriously did not think that he was going to take the initiative. At this point I suspected that this was not going to be a positive outcome. However, I decided to reserve final judgment until after receiving the written proposal because I thought that he might be a man of few words but more internally focused. Perhaps he was just taking it all in and would have the details documented in his proposal. Nope! He missed about 50% of the obvious and there is just no way of recovering from such a debacle. Another indicator of this not being my guy: At the end of our conversation, I gave him a new email address. I repeated it twice and physically verified it on paper. A couple of days later, I get a phone message asking if I have received the estimate. Of course I say no and verify the email address that they have. It is incorrect. Details matter! Contractors: When you are meeting with a homeowner for the first time, that first impression is extremely important. Come prepared and be ready to engage the potential client, ask questions and represent your company in the best light. If you don't provide a thorough assessment, you can't have a thorough estimate. If you are having a bad day and just can't put your best forward, consider rescheduling. Even if I don't use a particular contractor, if I have a positive experience I will still share their information with others. Also, I may be inclined to use them at a later date. Homeowners: The initial encounter sets the tone for the remainder of the working relationship and you must be sure that your interests and needs are going to be completely addressed. Don't just focus on the outcome, focus on the process. Don't settle and don't rush! *** I did email the company to let them know why I had not chosen them. I do hope that they provide some additional training and education to their employees so that they are able to be a viable option for others. I honestly believe that most business owners who are interested in providing great customer service and growing their business will always appreciate honest feedback. I wish them well. ****4/1/16 On this day, I noticed that I had received an email from the owner of Kimberly Painting and I really appreciated his willingness to acknowledge and address the problem. We recently hired Kimberly painting to paint four rooms in our home. We felt that the consultation was very professional and helpful. We even received some extra guidance on paint color choices. When we struggled to find the perfect gray, we were given the option to color match an existing wall without knowing the paint color if needed. The painters spent almost a full day repairing minor imperfections with the walls so that everything would look perfect and brand new. They were meticulous in their work, painting all day two days in a row to get the job done with little interference in our day. They did the job right the first time around so that there weren't any areas that needed touch ups after a walk through. I had Kimberly paint my home in November 2013. I think they did a reasonable job but the project fell behind due to weather and the fact they did not paint on Sunday's or be able to provide additional crew members to speed up things. I also don't believe they know how to strip and stain wooden entrance doors very well. A number of spots were missed on the paint job.. We agreed to a small discount for our trouble. In addition the poly coating on my doors started peeling winter 2015 so they re-stripped and re-stained the doors but I have not yet be able to get them to finish up the poly coating. They have a 5 year written warranty but for now it remains to be seen if they will fully stand behind it. read more

In searching for a exterior painting company I received a few quotes. I did my due diligence as any homeowner would. Kimberly Painting had just worked on 2 other homes in my neighborhood within the month. I spoke with my neighbors and they raved about the quality and workmanship of the crew. I made the phone call to obtain yet another quote. Within a week I had the quote. Based on the price range of the quote (not the cheapest, but not the most expensive) and the satisfaction of my neighbors, I decided to pull the trigger and hire them. I was blown away! The crew leader Miguel was so kind, friendly, and easy to work with. I had some schedule challenges in needing to be home for painting exterior doors, but they accommodated me with ease. The job was done in 3 days! I required wood trim repair gifted by a puppy at my back door. Kimberly Painting waved a magic wand to make it repair and make it brand new.
